The Heiress' Savage Comeback

Chapter 264 Andrew, The Scoundrel!

Titus quickly distanced himself from Leon, regarding him with a wary eye. "Leon, you're not suggesting that I should interfere with those two, are you? Harold is more skilled in such matters. Why don't you ask him instead?" Despite his concern for his best friend's happiness, he had no desire to provoke Simone's ire. Harold, who was standing nearby, choked on his drink. He shot Titus a glare and retorted, "What are you insinuating? Do I seem like the type to stoop to such levels?" He then turned to Leon, adding, "I won't partake in such underhanded tactics." Leon was left at a loss for words. Harold's statement made it seem as if he reveled in wicked deeds. With a hint of impatience, he asked, "What's all this fuss about? I merely want Titus to find out where Simone and Zac were before they disembarked the plane and if they were accompanied by others. If so, we could hire someone to post a few photos for clarification." He couldn't bear the thought of Simone being with another man, and he refused to believe it. Since neither Simone nor Zac's team had addressed the situation, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Titus was flabbergasted. "Have you lost your mind? Why should we interfere in this when neither Simone nor Zac's team are addressing it? You may have time to spare, but I certainly don't." Leon fixed him with a stare, questioning, "Are we even friends?" "We can put our friendship on hold for now," Titus retorted. Leon was left even more speechless. His friends were starting to get on his nerves."Just tell me if you're willing to help. If not, I'll find someone else." Titus had more connections in this regard, making it easier for him to handle, but his manager could do the same if asked. The only downside would be enduring a day's worth of nagging, which was a nuisance. Titus dismissed him with a wave of his hand. "Find someone else, then. I don't want to get entangled in Simone's affairs at the moment. Given her personality, she would have clarified the situation by now if she cared. The current state of affairs suggests that they're either genuinely dating, or she's indifferent to the rumors." He glanced at Leon again, adding, "Be a good friend and spare me the trouble. I'm seeing her tomorrow to purchase another talisman. What if she refuses to sell it to me because I helped you today?" "Since when did you become so fearful of Simone?" Leon queried. Titus snorted. "If you had been roughed up a few times and had to endure days of pain, you'd be scared of her too. Not to mention, she once ruined my reputation and stalled my career. I won't deny that she intimidates me." Having experienced the chaos she could cause, he knew better than to provoke her again. Leon sighed in exasperation, "What a coward." Titus retorted, "I'm merely being prudent." Seeing his firm resolve, Leon had no choice but to back down. "Then recommend someone who can assist me." After all, he didn't want the public to misconstrue Simone and Zac's relationship. Titus sighed, "Oh, Leon. If only you had been more discerning." Despite his words, he recommended two individuals to Leon.Having his childhood sweetheart snatched away by another man seemed like a pitiful predicament. Without hesitation, Leon reached out to the two individuals. Harold turned to Titus, asking, "Why are you purchasing another talisman from Simone?" At the mention of that, Titus grimaced. "It's all because of Andrew, that fool, causing me grief. After Jodie borrowed a third of his luck, he's been plagued by misfortunes daily. He's on the brink of a breakdown. And after he heard from Luca that I could buy a talisman, he started pestering me. I've made it clear to him that Simone won't sell to him, but who knew that the idiot would seize the opportunity to steal my talisman during lunch today? He even disappeared to God knows where." Titus sighed again. "When I called him, he told me that his luck had improved after stealing my talisman and that he has no intention of returning it. What choice do I have? I have to get another one from Simone." Harold couldn't help but find his predicament amusing. "You're a magnet for trouble." Having a foolish younger brother was indeed a curse. Upon hearing their conversation, Leon immediately offered Titus some advice. "Why don't you contact Simone now and purchase another one?" Titus raised an eyebrow. "What kind of harebrained idea is that? Simone just returned from her trip. She must be exhausted. As her older brother, I shouldn't be disturbing her." Harold scoffed, "Don't pretend as though she's acknowledged you as her brother. I bet you're just worried that she might get annoyed and ignore you if you approach her now." Titus was left speechless. This jerk is getting on my nerves! In response, he grumbled irritably, "Don't you know that some things are better left unsaid? Just keep your opinions to yourself, will you?" Harold shrugged. "I'm just brutally honest." He then turned to Leon, "You're not planning on dropping by Simone's place, are you? She just returned today. I'm sure she won't appreciate your visit." "No. I just wanted to ask Titus if he could find out more about Simone and Zac's situation." Titus didn't know how to respond. "You're overestimating me. Do you honestly believe Simone would confide in me? I'm certain she wouldn't." But Leon persisted, "I'm merely trying to create opportunities for you to get closer to Simone. It shows that you still care about her." Harold found their exchange entertaining, so he egged him on, "He has a point. You should give it a shot." Leon quickly concurred, "Exactly. You should give it a try. It's not like Simone will devour you." After mulling it over, Titus finally agreed. The main issue was that his talisman had been stolen, which made him feel incomplete. In the group chat, he tagged Simone. 'Simone, my talisman was stolen by Andrew.' Simone had just finished drying her hair and was lounging in bed, scrolling through her phone. Upon reading the message, she responded immediately. Simone: Has he really stooped so low as to steal your talisman? Titus: Yes, he chokes or gags on water or food almost every day now, and he bumps into things just by walking. It's not just ordinary bad luck. He's on the brink of a breakdown these days. Simone: He deserves it. Titus: He does. He even targeted me and snatched my talisman away. He also mentioned that after taking my talisman, he didn't feel as unlucky anymore. Does it really work? Simone: Of course it does. That talisman carries your aura, and since you are brothers, it can help him ward off misfortune. Titus hadn't expected his talisman to have such an effect. Titus: No wonder he refuses to return it to me. He secretly thought that if it worked for Andrew, he wouldn't mind. After all, they were brothers, and he would help as much as he could.Hesitantly, he asked Simone. Titus: Can I get a new one? Simone: Are you sure you want to buy a new one instead of getting the old one back? Reading her message, Titus felt a chill run down his spine. Titus: Are you suggesting that something will happen to me when he takes my talisman? Simone: Duh. He used your talisman to ward off his misfortune, making you the unlucky one. If luck is bestowed, and it only takes one talisman to ward it off, why would the mastermind go through so much trouble? So, are you prepared? Titus pondered, Prepared for what? Bad luck? He felt like cursing. Andrew had landed him in a heap of trouble! …
