I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
Mr Sinclair’s excitement was palpable. His hands trembled slightly as he processed the idea of working with Albert, a renowned figure in both domestic and international business circles. Albert, a direct disciple of a highly respected master, was not only young and accomplished but also someone whose collaborations were sought after by global corporations. The fact that he was considering a partnership with Sinclair Corporation felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Mr Sinclair. So caught up in his enthusiasm, Mr Sinclair failed to notice Liza, who was quietly standing nearby. Completely ignoring her presence, he eagerly accompanied Albert upstairs. Albert, needing to retrieve something, allowed Mr Sinclair to guide him, though it was clear he was unimpressed by the man’s obsequious behavior. After about ten minutes, the two reappeared, descending the stairs together. However, Mr Sinclair’s mood shifted dramatically when he spotted Liza standing nearby, with Serena beside her, tears streaming down her face. His expression darkened as anger flared. To him, this was unacceptable. Liza, his rebellious and defiant daughter, had the audacity to show up at Sinclair Corporation, and worse, she seemed to be bullying his precious Serena. It didn’t matter to him what the real situation was—Serena’s tears were enough to confirm his suspicions. In Mr Sinclair’s mind, Serena was the company’s golden child. Her talent and dedication were what had drawn someone of Albert’s caliber to even consider working with Sinclair Corporation—or so he believed. To see Liza, whom he viewed as nothing but trouble, causing a scene threatened to ruin everything. His anger boiled over, and he stormed toward them without hesitation. Meanwhile, Albert, following a few steps behind, observed the situation with a cold sneer, clearly unimpressed by Mr Sinclair’s outburst. Liza had been waiting for a while, seeking out a shaded corner to avoid the heat. As she adjusted to the cooler spot, an unpleasant voice broke through her moment of peace.“Liza, why are you sitting out here like this? Shouldn’t you be inside? Or wait—did the security guards refuse to let you in?” Victoria’s voice was thick with condescension as she approached, Serena at her side. Both women were impeccably dressed, their appearances screaming wealth and status. Victoria’s tone carried an air of superiority as she continued, “Well, it makes sense they wouldn’t let you in. After all, Sinclair Corporation isn’t the kind of place for people like you to wander into.” She let out a derisive snort, pulling Serena closer in an almost performative display of affection. “Our Serena, on the other hand, is exceptional. She’s already become the vice president of Sinclair Corporation, and she hasn’t even graduated yet! Some people should learn their place and understand where they belong. Otherwise, it’s just embarrassing when they get kicked out.” Victoria’s words stung with arrogance as she looked down on Liza, clearly reveling in the opportunity to belittle her. Liza, however, calmly raised her head, her sharp gaze locking onto the two women.Serena’s expression softened, her voice tinged with apparent concern. "Mom, don't say that. Sister is still part of the Sinclair Family. She has as much right to this company as any of us. Maybe the security guards just didn't recognize her. That’s probably why she couldn’t get in." Victoria let out a cold laugh, her disdain evident. "She doesn't belong here, and that's the truth." Still feigning kindness, Serena added, "Mom, why don’t we arrange for Sister to get a teacher? Someone who can teach her how to manage the company properly. That way, if she ever finds herself with nowhere else to go, she can always rely on us and the company." Victoria sneered at the suggestion. "Serena, you’re far too generous. Do you really think we should waste a teacher’s time on her? What if her incompetence drives the teacher mad? Family or not, we can’t go around ruining other people’s lives, can we?" Serena bit her lip, pretending to be caught in a dilemma. "Then how about this, Sister? Don’t just sit here looking pitiful. Let me show you around the company." She extended her hand toward Liza, her gesture dripping with condescension, as though offering charity. Liza let out a quiet chuckle before responding, her voice tinged with mock gratitude. "Thank you, Sister, for being so thoughtful and responsible. But you’re absolutely right—I don’t think I’m qualified to be involved in managing the company. There’s no need for me to burden anyone with my presence here." Hearing these words, Serena’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. Her plan to belittle Liza and remind her of her supposed inadequacy seemed to be working perfectly. But before Serena could say anything further, Liza’s tone shifted, calm yet cutting. "After all, I only hold 69% of the company's shares, while you hold… none. It’s admirable how hard you work to generate profits that ultimately belong to me. I’m truly moved by your dedication." Serena’s face drained of color. Her composure faltered, and her forced smile froze in place. Liza stood up gracefully, brushing off imaginary dust from her clothes as she continued, her voice now tinged with mock sympathy. "Oh, and just a little reminder—my mother is the founder of Sinclair Corporation. Sister, don’t be too disheartened. Maybe in your next life, you’ll be lucky enough to be born into a legitimate family. Who knows? You might even inherit a company then." The atmosphere grew unbearably tense, the weight of Liza’s words sinking into the silence. "Liza!" Victoria finally exploded, her voice shrill with anger. She clenched her fists, her fury barely contained. Was Liza mocking her for being nothing more than a mistress? How dare she! Meanwhile, Serena’s expression flickered between rage and despair, her thoughts spiraling. Everything in the Sinclair Family was supposed to be hers—why had Liza come back to ruin it all? If only Liza had never returned… If only she were gone forever, then Serena could finally claim what was rightfully hers. Suddenly, the screech of brakes pierced the tense air, drawing everyone’s attention.
