I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 280

Gavin’s gaze turned icy, his demeanor indifferent. James, consumed with anger, was visibly shaking. “It’s all because of her!” he shouted, pointing at Liza. “You’ve pushed your friends away for this woman. Fine, it seems we’re no longer welcome at Longwan Residential!” Gavin’s tone was calm, almost dismissive. “That’s correct. Now, please leave.” James stood frozen, dumbfounded by Gavin’s words. His disbelief quickly turned into fury. “You’re throwing me out because of her? She’s bewitched you! Alora, what sorcery have you used to make Gavin blindly obey you? You must be quite skilled!” Without waiting for a response, he stormed off in a rage. Liza pouted, her displeasure evident. “I wasn’t even done with him yet, and now he’s stormed off after barking at me like that.”Gavin’s expression remained stoic as he replied nonchalantly, “Let him go. He’ll be back. When he does, we’ll deal with him properly.” Liza tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “You’re so sure he’ll return? Is it because of Alora?” In the Backyard of Longwan Residential James caught up with Alora, who was sitting on a bench, quietly sobbing. “Alora, don’t cry. This is all Liza’s fault! She’s the one influencing Gavin to cut ties with us!” James said, his voice laced with frustration. Alora dabbed at her tears, her face a picture of sorrow, but her eyes betrayed a hint of malice. Her mind raced with thoughts of retaliation. She couldn’t continue like this. If she didn’t act now, her chances of being with Gavin would slip away forever. As long as Liza remained in the picture, there was no way to get close to him. If that was the case, then Liza had to go.“Alora, don’t be sad,” James tried to console her, his voice softening. She looked up slowly, forcing a faint smile. “James, I’ll be okay.” But James wasn’t convinced. Seeing her fragile demeanor only fueled his anger. “If Liza doesn’t want us around, then so be it! We’ll never come back here again!” James clenched his fists. “I’ll remember what happened today. Liza won’t get away with this!” Alora quickly intervened, her voice trembling with concern. “James, don’t… Don’t provoke her. Gavin seems to care about her a lot. If you upset her, it’ll only create trouble for him. I— I can’t bear to make things harder for Gavin. I… I can’t leave him.” She bit her lip and continued, “Besides, Alora has every right to dislike me. Alora offended her before, and she’s still holding a grudge. That’s why she doesn’t welcome me. I understand her feelings, so please don’t blame her.” Her voice softened further as she added, “I don’t want the situation to escalate. Let’s go back together and apologize, James.” James frowned, his frustration mounting. Alora had previously heard about her sister, Alora, offending Liza. However, that incident had happened ages ago, and she couldn’t understand why Liza was still holding onto the grudge. How petty could this woman be? In James’s mind, Gavin was only drawn to Liza because of her looks and her status as a teacher at Li City University. But what if the truth about Liza came to light? If Gavin discovered she had lied about her qualifications and wasn’t as competent as she appeared, would he still find her so captivating? He had already taken steps to expose her by reporting her for allegedly entering the university through the back door. By now, the matter should have been resolved, and Liza should have been informed about her expulsion. Even if she wasn’t fired outright, James thought smugly, her reputation at Li City University would be tarnished beyond repair. With that thought, he let out a self-satisfied smirk. “Alright, let’s go back,” he said. Alora, clinging to James’s arm, kept her head lowered, but a sinister smile tugged at her lips. At Longwan Residential Lunch was served, and the dining table was adorned with a feast fit for royalty. Gavin leaned in close to Liza, brushing his lips against hers in a soft kiss. The butler, passing by, beamed at the scene, his smile stretching wide. “Ah, the president is so affectionate toward Young Madam, even before lunch. What a loving couple!” Gavin maint Meanwhile, Liza’s cheeks flushed crimson. The kiss had nothing to do with their “affection.” It was a ritual they followed before every meal so that Liza could regain her sense of taste. Gavin, however, didn’t bother to explain, leaving the butler to his assumptions. The butler placed a dish in front of Liza with a proud expression. “Young Madam, give this a try. It’s a specially prepared dish to promote good health. All the meals today follow a diet designed for… well, preparing to conceive.” Liza froze, her lips twitching slightly. How did the butler know so much about this? Why was he planning meals for conception now? As soon as the butler left, Liza began sorting through the food on her plate, picking out the dishes she didn’t want. With a mischievous grin, she piled the unwanted portions onto Gavin’s plate. “I’m not eating this. You can have it.” Gavin’s calm gaze shifted to his bowl now overflowing with her leftovers. Without a word, he picked up his chopsticks and began eating. This had become a habit for them. Liza always passed the food she didn’t like to Gavin, who accepted it without complaint. However, just as Liza was transferring more food to Gavin’s plate, Alora walked into the room. The sight before her made her pause, her eyes flickering with emotions she struggled to conceal.
