I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
Gavin assumed Liza might feel out of place or uncomfortable at the art exhibition, so he declined the two tickets without hesitation. That had to be the reason! This thought eased Alora’s anxiety. With a forced smile, she said, “It’s fine. If he doesn’t want to go, I won’t push him. Perhaps, after some time, he’ll move past everything that happened.” Later at Longwan Residential Liza’s eyebrows rose in mild surprise when she heard about XL’s upcoming art exhibition. “His exhibition? Here in Li City?” Gavin nodded calmly. “Do you want to go?” He didn’t need Alora’s tickets—one phone call, and he could have the event organizers personally deliver them to their door. Liza, however, shook her head lightly, her voice indifferent. “No, it’s fine.” She had grown up surrounded by XL’s art, so his works were nothing new to her. However, she couldn’t help but feel a tinge of annoyance. Why hadn’t Brother informed her about his visit to Li City? Why did it seem like he was sneaking around? Her thoughts left her a little unsettled. Without saying much more, she headed upstairs, quickly changed, and rushed out the door. Watching her leave, George stepped forward, visibly concerned. “President, should I follow Young Madam?” Gavin’s expression remained calm. “There’s no need.” George hesitated, frowning slightly. “But it’s getting late. If she runs into any trouble…” “She’ll be fine,” Gavin interrupted. “XL will look after her.” George’s eyes widened in shock. “XL? She knows him?” Though his curiosity burned, he bit back his questions, mindful of his place. After all, he had witnessed George’s salary being deducted too many times for being overly inquisitive. But just as he resolved to stay quiet, Jay sidled up to him, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Hey, Brother, something’s definitely off! I think Young Madam went out to meet XL.” George frowned but said nothing. Jay nudged him again. “Come on, admit it. If you were Young Madam, would you choose the president over XL?” George shot him a look of confusion. “What kind of question is that? Why would I think about something so ridiculous?” Undeterred, Jay leaned in, grinning. “I’m just saying, if it were me, I wouldn’t pick the president. He’s too cold and serious. XL, on the other hand, is a creative genius! Artists are always more fun to be around. Don’t you think the choice is obvious?” George stared at him, unimpressed. “You’ve got quite the imagination, don’t you?” Jay sighed dramatically. “Think about it! Young Madam is amazing—she’s a champion in translation, writes scripts, and is even a hacker! Meanwhile, the president… well, all he has is money. And he’s so stiff and serious all the time!” George suppressed a smirk, shaking his head. “You’re going to get yourself in trouble one of these days.” Still, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of curiosity about the mysterious connection between Liza and XL. “Something is definitely going on between Young Madam and XL if she’s rushing out to see him tonight!” George muttered under his breath, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Don’t you think the president is being a bit slow? As his assistant, it’s my duty to think about his marriage!” George resisted the urge to roll his eyes. His younger colleague never seemed to know when to stop. A moment later, the two returned to stand before Gavin. George, trying to sound professional, suggested, “President, perhaps I should follow Young Madam to ensure her safety?” Gavin raised an eyebrow and cast a sharp glance at George before addressing Jay. “You’re eager to head out tonight?” Jay straightened nervously. “No, it’s not that… it’s just that Madam left without her bag. If she needs money…” He trailed off, hesitant to suggest the idea of her borrowing money from XL. Gavin’s tone was calm but pointed. “So, can Jay spend your money?” Caught off guard, George blinked in confusion. “Of course. He’s my brother—it’s not a problem.” “Then by that logic, Liza can spend XL’s money too.” Gavin’s voice carried a subtle warning. “Has Jay been saying things to you? Perhaps he no longer cares about his salary. If that’s the case, both of you can head to the backyard and tidy it up.” George immediately straightened, his lips pressed tightly together. “Understood, President.” George opened his mouth to retort but thought better of it, silently lamenting his brother’s lack of adventurous spirit.Meanwhile, Liza had just arranged to meet XL outside a shopping mall. She waited for a short while before spotting two familiar figures approaching—XL and an elderly man walking beside him. The moment she saw them, her face lit up with excitement. She dashed toward them, her voice full of joy. “Brother! Teacher!” The older gentleman was none other than Teacher Ewan, a renowned expert in traditional medicine and a master of over ten classical musical instruments. With his flowing long robe and dignified demeanor, he exuded the aura of a wise sage. XL, seeing her rushing toward him, stepped forward quickly to steady her with a warm hug. “You’re an adult now, Liza. Must you still jump around like a child?” Liza beamed up at him, clearly overjoyed. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you were coming to Li City?” XL gave a small, dismissive smile. “It was a last-minute decision. I didn’t have time to inform you.”In truth, XL had planned to surprise her. He had missed his junior greatly and wanted to see her happy expression when they met. Liza’s eyes softened as she looked at him and Teacher Ewan. These two, along with her other brothers and mentors, had always been her pillars of support. No matter where life had taken her, they were the people she felt closest to—the family she cherished deeply.
