I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 231

Mr. Sinclair clenched his teeth, pretending to take the moral high ground. "My eldest daughter has always been reckless and troublesome. She’s caused another mess this time, and I’ll deal with her myself! I’ll take her home and teach her a lesson. But, President Albert," he continued with a seemingly earnest expression, "can you accompany me? I don’t have the means to resolve this on my own, and I don’t want my daughter to suffer unnecessarily. I just want to save her." Albert let out a cold laugh in his heart. If he hadn’t already seen through the Sinclair Family’s schemes, he might have been fooled into thinking Mr. Sinclair was a concerned and responsible father. But knowing the truth, Albert was eager for what was about to unfold. Still, he maintained a calm façade and replied, “Alright.” Upon hearing this, Serena and Victoria couldn’t hide their excitement. They were convinced that Liza had no way out this time. If the situation escalated, the Sinclair Family’s shareholders would surely turn against her.Everyone quickly gathered at the door of the suite. From inside, faint voices of a man and a woman could be heard, sending murmurs of shock through the crowd. Victoria, feigning hesitation, tugged at Mr. Sinclair’s sleeve and whispered with a conflicted look, “Sinclair, maybe Liza genuinely likes President Louis. She might’ve acted impulsively because of her feelings. It’s not entirely unreasonable for them to be in a relationship. Please, don’t be too harsh on her in front of everyone…” Mr. Sinclair, however, raised his voice in anger, playing his role to perfection. “If I don’t teach her a lesson now, how will she ever learn? This daughter of mine has ruined my entire life! And now, she dares to seduce a man at a public banquet, throwing the Sinclair Family’s name into the mud! I’ve had enough—I’ll call my lawyer and sever all ties with her!” The crowd rushed to console him, urging him not to act in haste. Still, Mr. Sinclair clutched his chest dramatically, shaking his head with a pained expression. “Her mother was the same way back then… I tried to set her straight, but I failed…”Suddenly, a voice interrupted his theatrical performance. “Dad! You’re cutting ties with me?” All heads turned as the suite door creaked open, and Liza stuck her head out with a calm, mildly surprised look. “Oh! Everyone’s here! What’s all the fuss about?” The crowd looked her up and down, their eyes narrowing in disdain. She only cracked the door open slightly, and faint murmurs of a man’s voice could still be heard from inside. This sent waves of gossip through the group. Mr. Sinclair’s face darkened as he bellowed, “Liza! What on earth are you doing in there? Open the door right now!” But Liza only gave him an innocent look, her tone light and unbothered. “I don’t think so.” Her nonchalant attitude enraged Mr. Sinclair further. The crowd joined in, voices rising with judgment.“Miss Liza, your parents are trying to help you. You’ve embarrassed yourself enough—just admit your mistake and put an end to this!” “Even if you’re desperate for money, you shouldn’t stoop so low! You’ve brought shame to the Sinclair Family!” Victoria, standing smugly to the side, felt triumphant. In her mind, Liza was destined to be a stepping stone for her own daughter, Serena. This moment would seal Liza’s downfall, leaving her no chance of ever recovering. Victoria’s thoughts grew darker as she imagined what lay ahead. Liza would suffer at the hands of President Louis, her dignity stripped away, until she ultimately met her end. And when that time came, she could finally join her mother in the afterlife. Victoria put on a sorrowful expression, dabbing at her dry eyes as if wiping away tears. "I’ve always treated Liza as my own, even though she’s not my biological daughter. But even I… even I have my limits."Mr. Sinclair’s face darkened, his patience running thin. “Liza, what are you doing in there? Why aren’t you opening the door?” A faint smile played on Liza’s lips. “Are you sure you want me to open it?” Mr. Sinclair’s plan was simple: force the situation into the open. He feared President Louis might deny any involvement with Liza, so he had orchestrated this moment to catch them "in the act." If the scandal became public, President Louis would have no choice but to accept responsibility and marry Liza to salvage his reputation. Now, however, his impatience was mounting. “What’s the matter? Have you done something shameful? Is that why you’re afraid of everyone finding out? Stop wasting time—come out!” Liza raised her eyebrows slightly, her voice calm but with a hint of playfulness. “But…” Before she could finish, one of Victoria’s loud-mouthed friends chimed in with a disdainful snort. “Miss Liza, are you scared of what we might see? You’re just a child without proper upbringing. How dare you disgrace yourself at such a significant event?” “Her reputation has always been questionable,” someone else sneered. “This isn’t surprising at all!” “President Sinclair,” another voice piped up, dripping with mockery, “you’re from a respectable family. How could you have a daughter like her? If this gets out, the Sinclair Family’s reputation will be in shambles!” Hearing the growing accusations, Mr. Sinclair’s frustration boiled over. Even though this whole setup was his idea, the crowd’s disdain for Liza only fueled his anger. The thought of her potentially ruining the Sinclair Family’s reputation lit a fire within him, and he could no longer hold back. “Enough!” he roared, storming forward and yanking the door open with all his might. “What exactly are you hiding in here? What have you done—" He froze mid-sentence, his breath catching in his throat. The scene inside left him utterly dumbfounded. The others pushed past him, eager to witness the spectacle, only to stop short in surprise. The bed in the adjoining bedroom was perfectly made, the sheets crisp and clean, without a single sign of any inappropriate activity. In the suite’s living area, three people sat casually at a small table, a deck of cards spread out before them. Liza stood among them, looking completely unbothered. She glanced up at the crowd now crammed into the doorway and tilted her head. “What’s all the commotion about?”
