I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
Henry’s voice trembled with panic. “Please, don’t do anything to me! I swear I don’t like Liza at all. She’s my sister-in-law! How could I possibly have any inappropriate thoughts about her? I wouldn’t dare! You’ve got to believe me!” Gavin’s calm voice suddenly broke through Henry’s frantic rambling. “Henry.” Henry froze, holding his breath. Though Gavin wasn’t physically there, it was clear he knew everything that had transpired. “Good job this time,” Gavin said casually. Henry blinked, completely taken aback. “Wait… what?” Had he heard correctly? Did well? What was that supposed to mean? Rumors about him and Liza were flying all over Li City. He had been losing his mind with worry, but not only was Gavin not furious, he was actually praising him? After the call ended, Henry finally let out a deep sigh of relief, though his confusion lingered. Meanwhile, on the other side… Gavin set his phone down and turned to George. “Have you managed to locate Liza’s teacher?” George nodded quickly. “Yes, President. Madam’s teacher is a highly respected doctor.” Gavin’s expression remained thoughtful as he nodded. He had been pondering the events of the previous day, particularly his rapid recovery after his sudden relapse. He was well aware that Liza had used her own blood to counteract the poison in his body. It was a rare and powerful antidote, something to be used only in the most critical situations. What intrigued him even more was what happened afterward—he could hear her thoughts. That unusual ability had to be linked to her blood. Just then, Liza entered the room. The lights were off, and she hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Gavin, why are you sitting in the dark?” Before he could answer, Liza suddenly clutched her stomach, a wave of nausea overwhelming her. Gavin could clearly hear her inner thoughts. ‘Why do I keep feeling nauseous? Could it be something I ate? Ugh, this is so uncomfortable!’ His lips curled into a subtle smile. Being able to hear Mrs. Stone’s thoughts was turning out to be unexpectedly entertaining. As he approached her, he asked softly, “Mrs. Stone, is something wrong?” George quickly turned on the lights. As the room brightened, Gavin’s eyes adjusted to the change, but Liza looked even more uncomfortable. Without a word, she bolted toward the bathroom. In the hallway, Oliver leaned close to George and whispered, “Madam is throwing up. Do you think… you know… could it be that?” George gave him a side-eye. “What are you talking about?” Oliver raised an eyebrow, his grin mischievous. “Come on, don’t play dumb. The president and Madam have been… well, you know… spending time together. What if there’s a baby on the way?” George shot him a look of disbelief. “You’re overthinking things.” Oliver wasn’t deterred. “Overthinking? It’s totally possible! Aren’t you even a little curious? I mean, a baby Gavin would be pretty exciting!” George sighed, clearly questioning his life choices. How had he ended up with such an outrageous younger brother? Why hasn’t the president thrown him out yet? Oliver’s mind was in complete chaos. He couldn’t stop overthinking. With how capable the president seemed to be in every aspect of his life, if he and Madam ever shared the same room, it was only a matter of time before she’d end up pregnant. Meanwhile, Liza was reclining in a chair with her eyes closed, trying to calm down after taking some medicine. But her thoughts were anything but relaxed. She regretted everything—most importantly, eating those awful dishes prepared by her uncle. Suddenly, a troubling thought hit her. She poked at her stomach, only to realize with horror that there seemed to be a layer of fat there. “No way!” she gasped, jumping to her feet in panic. She grabbed a ruler and frantically measured her waist. The numbers didn’t lie. She had gained weight. At that moment, her brother’s voice chimed in carefully, “Liza , your dress looks a bit tight today.” That only confirmed her worst fear. Liza had always been thin, practically all her life. She had a picky appetite due to her strange sense of taste, so she rarely indulged in food—just enough to keep herself from feeling hungry. But after a few months of living with Gavin, somehow, she had put on weight. For a woman like Liza, gaining weight was a nightmare. As if the universe was mocking her, the butler walked into the room carrying a plate of freshly fried chicken. Now, fried chicken had always been Liza’s guilty pleasure. Even though she couldn’t fully taste the flavors, the crispy texture and juicy bite made it one of the few foods she genuinely enjoyed. The butler, knowing her preference, often went out of his way to make it for her. But today, Liza felt completely different. Just catching a whiff of the greasy aroma made her stomach churn. She quickly covered her mouth and waved her hand dismissively. “I can’t eat that right now.” The butler’s eyes widened slightly as if a light bulb had just gone off in his head. Ma was suddenly averse to oily food. On top of that, she had gained weight. Could it be…? He brightened up immediately and, with an enthusiastic grin, exclaimed, “Ma! Why didn’t you tell us earlier? This is wonderful news. Being pregnant is such a blessing!” Liza froze in place, completely stunned. “What…?!” But the butler was already beaming with excitement. “I thought it was just weight gain, but clearly, it’s because you’re expecting. Does the president know yet? No? Well, don’t worry—I’ll inform him right away!” Before Liza could even process what was happening, the butler hurried off to deliver the “good news,” leaving her standing there, utterly speechless.
