I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
"Henry , stop. I shouldn’t have come back. Now that Gavin is married, I have no right to look for him anymore," Alora said tearfully before turning and walking away in anger. Henry , watching her leave, felt a pang of guilt and quickly ran after her. "Sister Alora! Wait!" Alora’s sobs were loud and unrestrained, pulling at Henry ’s emotions. "Sister Alora, please don’t cry anymore. It’s been so long. My brother has probably moved on, and besides, he’s already married." Her teary eyes glanced at Henry , her voice trembling. "Henry , you don’t understand. Gavin doesn’t truly love Liza. Their marriage was a rushed decision, nothing more. If he had found his true soulmate, I wouldn’t have come back to disturb him. But I know he hasn’t." Henry frowned, unsure how to respond. "I don’t know, Sister Alora. I think Gavin does care for that woman, even if it doesn’t look that way. And honestly, you chose to leave him back then. Isn’t it unfair to show up now, hoping for something more?" Alora looked desolate. "You don’t get it, Henry . I love him. I always have. My life feels empty without him. I don’t want to come between anyone, but I just don’t know how to make him forgive me. He’s still angry, isn’t he?" Henry hesitated, looking conflicted. His tone became firmer. "Sister Alora, do you really love Gavin? Did you return to the country solely because of him?" Her expression faltered as she sensed something shifting in Henry ’s demeanor. He sighed deeply, frustration seeping into his voice. "Even though I don’t like Liza and even told her to leave Longwan Residential, she’s still my brother’s wife. Legally, they’re married. Neither you nor I have the right to interfere with that." Caught off guard by his sudden directness, Alora’s face darkened. She stayed quiet, letting her tears do the talking. "Look, I’m not saying you’re selfish," Henry continued, softening slightly. "But you need to understand that if Gavin genuinely loves Liza, then you can’t interfere. If their marriage is just a formality like you believe, then things will sort themselves out. But trying to force anything now isn’t fair—to him or to yourself." Alora sniffled and looked up with a glimmer of resolve. "Henry , I’m not trying to come between them. I just want Gavin to be happy. If Liza is truly the person he loves, I’ll step back and give them my blessing. But if this is just a temporary arrangement, wouldn’t it be better to end things now, before anyone gets hurt? I’m doing this for his sake." Hearing this, Henry exhaled heavily. "If you’re sincere, then that’s good. Just don’t cross any lines." He paused, his tone softening. "You know, I hate women who ruin other people’s relationships.… well, you know what our mother was like. Gavin and I were both born from scandal, and we’ve lived under that shadow our entire lives. It’s not something I want to see repeated." Alora wiped her tears away, offering a small smile. "Henry , I promise. If Liza truly makes him happy, I’ll step aside. She’s your sister-in-law, after all, and you should treat her with respect. She’s part of your family now." Henry nodded, somewhat reassured. "If that’s how you feel, then I’ll try to be more respectful toward her." As Henry turned to leave, Alora lowered her gaze, her fingers tightening into fists. A cold glint flickered in her eyes. She thought to herself, No matter what it takes, I’ll win Gavin back. … In the quiet hall, Liza glanced at Gavin and asked casually, “Is that young man really your younger brother?” Gavin took a slow sip of his coffee. “Mhm.” Liza raised her brows and studied him thoughtfully. “You two don’t look alike at all. Henry has a strong resemblance to Lady Edna , but you… you don’t look like either of them.” She walked closer, tilting her head as she scrutinized him further. “In fact, you don’t resemble anyone from the Stone Family . You’re different—completely unique.” Gavin smirked faintly but said nothing, his expression calm. Taking another step closer, Liza’s smile grew sly. “Could it be… that you’re not actually a member of the Stone Family ? That would explain a lot. Otherwise, why would they treat Henry so well but show you nothing but indifference? You’re both supposedly Lady Edna’s children, aren’t you? How could she be so blatantly biased?” Her tone turned slightly teasing. “And let’s be honest—Henry seems like a bit of a… lightweight. He can’t even see through Alora’s schemes. If you were truly siblings, born of the same mother, how could there be such a vast difference in intelligence and character between you two?” Gavin leaned back against the sofa, his posture relaxed yet imposing. “Are you done?” Liza ignored his question, her lips curling into a faint pout. “I just find it puzzling. You and Henry are both supposed to be Lady Edna ’s children, so why does she clearly favor him over you? It doesn’t make sense.” She paused briefly before adding, “I guess it’s because everyone sees you as a reminder of Lady Edna ’s less-than-honorable past. You represent the days when she… wasn’t exactly reputable. Henry , on the other hand, was born during her marriage, so he symbolizes something different to her—a fresh start, maybe?” George, standing nearby, waved his hands in an attempt to stop her. But Liza either didn’t notice or chose to ignore him entirely. She continued boldly, her gaze fixed on Gavin. “Even so, her treatment of you goes beyond favoritism—it’s cruel. Maybe… just maybe, it’s because you’re not actually her child. That would explain everything.”
