I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 208

Although Liza and Gavin occupied separate bedrooms, the entire second floor was exclusively theirs, ensuring they wouldn’t be disturbed. At this moment, Liza cautiously stepped into Gavin’s room, her heart pounding. She hesitated briefly before pushing open the bathroom door, her gaze landing on her reflection in the mirror. Her cheeks flushed deeply as she took in her appearance. “This is supposed to be clothing?” What she wore could hardly be called an outfit. It was made up of a few delicate, almost completely transparent strips of fabric. The sight was enough to make her feel lightheaded. She couldn’t even begin to imagine how Gavin might react if he saw her like this. Her breathing quickened, and the thought alone was enough to send her into a panic. Gathering her courage, she stepped out of the bathroom and dove straight under the bedcovers, her face burning as she tried to conceal her barely-covered figure. Meanwhile, outside the residence, Gavin’s car pulled to a smooth stop. His usual composed demeanor was replaced by a slightly tense expression as he stepped out of the vehicle. “Where is my wife?” he asked, his tone calm but firm. George, standing nearby, froze for a moment, visibly flustered. His thoughts were filled with dread, fearing that his recent actions might result in a pay deduction. Still, he had acted with good intentions—for the president’s benefit, no less! Snapping out of his anxious thoughts, George quickly responded, “Your wife? She’s already upstairs, in her bedroom.” Gavin gave a curt nod and turned to head inside. But before he could take another step, George hurriedly intercepted him, looking guilty and unusually nervous. “President! I’ve been loyal and hardworking all this time—it’s all for your sake! If I’ve done anything to offend you, please have mercy and spare me!” Gavin stopped in his tracks, his brows knitting together in confusion. “Have you lost your mind, George?” he muttered before brushing past him and heading upstairs. When Gavin entered his bedroom, he immediately sensed something was off. His sharp gaze swept the room, and his frown deepened. No one was permitted to enter this space—not the household staff and certainly not George, who was constantly by his side. Who had the audacity to intrude? His expression darkened as he removed his jacket and stepped further into the room. But as he approached, his movements stilled, his eyes widening at the sight before him. What he saw left him speechless. … Before he entered the room, Liza lay under the blanket, her heart pounding furiously. She knew Gavin would be back any moment. Panic set in as she grappled with what to do. How was she supposed to explain herself when he saw her like this? A flood of thoughts overwhelmed her. Should she confront him outright? “Have you been imagining this for a while? Is that why you got me such scandalous clothes?” Or maybe she should feign embarrassment? “Gavin, you’re so annoying! Do you really like seeing me dressed like this?” Her face burned at the mere thought. This is too mortifying! The sound of footsteps in the hallway grew louder, each step making her heart race faster. It felt as though her chest might explode. Suddenly, she resolved to abandon the idea entirely. It felt far too awkward and rushed to suddenly take such an intimate step. Their relationship needed to progress naturally, not through impulsive decisions.Liza shook her head firmly, chastising herself. What was she thinking? Selling herself just to recover her taste buds? What a ridiculous idea! She reminded herself that Gavin had been a figure in her life for a decade—first as her senior, and now unexpectedly as her husband. It was hard to reconcile this new dynamic with the possibility of him doing something so... bold. Realizing how absurd her plan was, she decided to change back into her normal clothes. Rising quickly, she headed toward the bathroom. But just as she was about to move, the bedroom door swung open. Gavin stepped into the room, his expression unreadable. Liza froze in place, her eyes meeting his. Her breath caught in her throat as she stood there, completely dumbfounded. If there was ever a moment she wished the ground would swallow her whole, this was it. Gavin had sensed earlier that someone was in his room, and given the situation, he’d figured it could only be Liza. Confidently, he walked in, not expecting much. However, the sight that greeted him left him utterly stunned. The room seemed to glow with a captivating allure. There she was, standing in the middle of his bedroom, dressed in a delicate white garment so sheer it might as well have been made of air. Her graceful figure was on full display, and her beauty was breathtaking. For a man like Gavin, who had always prided himself on his self-control, this moment felt like an unrelenting wave crashing into him. His pulse quickened, and a strange heat surged through his veins. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. Had she lost her mind? His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. Trying to maintain composure, he closed the door behind him and spoke in a voice that was unusually rough. “Liza, what… are you doing?” Liza instinctively crossed her arms over her chest, trying to shield herself as she stumbled backward. Her voice rose in indignation. “Gavin! You… you actually bought this for me? How could you? You’re so shameless! I thought you were a decent, serious man! Turns out appearances can be deceiving!” Gavin froze, his brows furrowing in confusion. When had he ever bought such a thing? And then it hit him—a vivid image of George’s guilty expression flashed through his mind. Ah, so that’s how it is. A knowing smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. It was all George’s doing. Gavin stepped closer to Liza, the playful glint in his eyes unmistakable. Slowly, he reached out, resting a hand gently on her back before sliding it around to her waist. His voice was low but carried an unmistakable note of delight. “Yes,” he said, his tone calm and teasing, “it looks beautiful.”Liza’s eyes widened as her mouth opened and closed, utterly speechless. Her voice quivered as she stammered, “Gu... Gavin! How could you buy something like this? You’re shameless!” Ignoring her protest, Gavin pulled her into his arms. His touch was warm, his body radiating heat as he held her close. Though his voice remained composed, there was an undeniable intensity in his gaze. “What’s there to be embarrassed about?” he murmured, his tone steady yet laced with emotion. “We’re husband and wife. This... is perfectly normal.”
