I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 186

“Serena, Brandon has arrived,” Madam Victoria said softly, glancing toward the door. “His company has also been dragged into this mess, and he looks very upset.” Serena’s face twisted in anger for a fleeting moment before she forced herself to regain composure. “I understand. I know what to do,” she replied with a bitter determination. A moment later, Brandon entered the room, his expression heavy with frustration and concern. “Serena, what’s happening? Why would your fans go so far as to attack Liza? I heard they brought weapons! She could have died!” Though her heart burned with resentment, Serena carefully masked her emotions. She adopted a vulnerable demeanor, her voice soft and trembling. “I... I don’t know why they would do such a thing. It’s terrifying to think my fans could act so violently. Thank goodness my sister is safe.” Brandon studied her, his suspicion briefly surfacing. However, her apparent distress eased his doubt.“You’re right. No matter what Liza has done, violence is never the answer. Those fans were way out of line!” he said firmly. Serena bit her lip, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “My sister has hurt me many times before, but I’ve never held it against her. I would never condone such behavior. I feel awful about what’s happened. If she had been seriously hurt, I don’t think I could live with myself.” Brandon reached out to comfort her, but before he could speak, Lady Sinclair’s voice boomed from across the room. “Serena, stop blaming yourself!” the elderly woman declared as she hobbled closer with her cane. Turning to Brandon, she added sharply, “You still don’t understand what kind of person Liza is, do you? She’s manipulative and vindictive! Those fans of Serena’s wouldn’t harm anyone—they were just trying to frighten her. This is clearly one of Liza’s schemes to frame Serena! You must see through her lies!” Meanwhile, the scandal about Serena’s fans attempting to attack her sister had exploded online, with netizens condemning Serena for inciting such reckless behavior. “If Serena wasn’t behind this, why would her fans act like this?” “Only someone with her influence could push fans to such extremes!” The backlash wasn’t limited to Serena herself. The Sinclair Corperation and Brandon’s company both faced industry-wide boycotts, leaving them scrambling to contain the damage. Back at the Stone Family residence, Brandon sat in his office, staring at a pile of termination contracts with a pounding headache. “Serena insists she had nothing to do with it,” he explained to his father, Mr. Stone, trying to keep his voice steady. Mr. Stone’s brows furrowed. “Nothing to do with it? That’s hard to believe. Wasn’t Serena the one who collaborated with Davis to accuse Liza of cheating during that competition? Liza disproved their lies through sheer ability! And now this? It’s obvious her fans acted on her behalf. This mess has harmed everyone, including our company!”Mrs. Stone, standing nearby, snapped, “Enough! Serena is part of our family now—Brandon is engaged to her! We should be supporting her, not pointing fingers. Besides, Liza has caused nothing but trouble for this family!” Mr. Stone scowled. “Serena’s the one constantly stirring up problems! Don’t forget, it was Liza who secured numerous business deals for us in the past.” Mrs. Stone bristled at the remark but remained defiant. “Liza is a curse! Serena is kind, sweet, and obedient—everything Liza is not. She’s clearly jealous of Serena and orchestrated this entire scenario to bring her down. Open your eyes, or you’ll let Liza fool you, too!” Mr. Stone let out a heavy sigh before turning to his son. “Listen, Brandon , I don’t care what’s true or not at this point. This situation cannot be allowed to hurt the company any further. Go to the PR department immediately and start damage control. And as for Liza, do whatever it takes to convince her to end this feud quietly.” Reluctantly, Brandon nodded. “I’ll take care of it.”Even as he prepared to follow his father’s orders, his mind churned with doubt. Serena wouldn’t encourage violence—he was sure of it. She was always so gentle and considerate. He couldn’t let Liza’s actions cloud his trust in her. Could he? … George had been following the storm of outrage online. The internet was ablaze with criticism directed at Serena and Brandon. His confusion only grew as he turned to Gavin. “President, doesn’t Young Madam have a recording of everything? Why hasn’t she posted it yet?” The evidence was clear and damning. If Liza released the recording, it would expose Serena’s direct involvement in manipulating her fans to commit such an unforgivable act. Instigating minors to attempt such a violent crime was beyond reprehensible. But despite holding such a powerful weapon, Liza hadn’t used it. “Could it be that she still cares about their relationship as sisters?” George speculated aloud, his brows furrowed in thought. Gavin chuckled faintly, his eyes gleaming with understanding. “She didn’t post the recording outright,” he began, “because she knows exactly how to play this game.” George blinked, puzzled. Gavin leaned back, his smirk widening. “By holding back and only sending a warning, she’s giving the Sinclair Family false confidence. They’ll assume Liza doesn’t have any solid evidence. They’ll think they can clear their names easily and even turn the tables by accusing her of slander.” George nodded slowly as realization dawned. “She’s letting them dig their own graves,” Gavin continued. “Once they’ve exhausted every excuse and painted themselves as victims, she’ll drop the recording. It’ll leave them with no room to defend themselves. Every lie they tell now will only make the truth hit harder later.”George’s admiration for Liza grew. “That’s brilliant… But also ruthless,” he murmured, his eyes wide. Gavin’s expression softened slightly. “She’s handling this perfectly.” “But still,” George said, suddenly emotional, “Young Madam is too kind! After everything Serena has done to her, she’s still holding back. If it were me, I’d have exposed that woman’s true colors immediately!” Gavin raised an eyebrow at him, amusement flickering in his gaze. “She’s not holding back out of kindness,” Gavin corrected calmly. “She’s being thorough. When Serena falls, there won’t be any chance for her to crawl back.” George fell silent, realizing the depth of Liza’s strategy.
