I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
"It seems you haven’t met your senior yet," Gavin said with a faint smile, his voice dripping with amusement. He leaned back slightly, his posture relaxed but his gaze sharp. "Or… could it be that you don’t want to see your senior anymore?" Liza blinked, confused by his words. "What’s that supposed to mean?" she shot back, her expression tense. Gavin’s smirk deepened, his tone teasing. "Just curious," he replied smoothly. Liza felt her patience wearing thin. "Of course, I want to meet my senior," she snapped, her voice firm. "You wouldn’t understand the connection between us. Even if we don’t meet, we’ll always think about each other." Gavin raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. His gaze lingered on her for a moment before he chuckled softly, the sound low and rich. His laughter sent a chill down Liza’s spine. She instinctively stepped back, her instincts warning her that something about his reaction was off. "Why are you laughing?" she demanded, her voice filled with suspicion. Instead of answering, Gavin simply continued to look at her, his eyes sparkling with mischief. Realizing she wouldn’t get a straight answer, Liza decided it was best to leave. The auditions had ended, and there was no reason for her to stick around. She could meet her senior another time when the circumstances were better. Before leaving, Liza scanned a list of names. Her gaze locked onto one in particular: Loruf, 38 years old, married. The notes mentioned that he was skilled in hacking and known for his good looks. Her heart raced. This had to be her senior. Without hesitation, Liza rushed to find Loruf. She spotted him discussing the script with a group of people. Patiently, she waited for them to finish before stepping forward and carefully pushing the door open."Hello, Mr Loruf," she greeted politely. Everyone in the room turned to look at her. Loruf gave her a polite nod, his tone calm. "Nice to meet you, Scriptwriter Liza." Liza’s eyes lit up with excitement. He knows who I am! she thought. It’s him! It must be him! Despite being 38 years old, Loruf looked youthful, exuding a sense of refinement and charm. With his impeccable acting skills and striking looks, it was no surprise he had been a heartthrob in his younger days. Seeing her enthusiasm, Loruf smiled gently and asked, "Miss Liza, is there something I can help you with?" Liza froze for a moment, her smile faltering slightly. What’s going on? Why is he pretending not to recognize me? she wondered, glancing at Loruf’s manager for answers. Taking a deep breath, she asked carefully, "Mr Loruf, don’t you know me?"Loruf frowned slightly, genuinely puzzled. "I’m sorry," he said after a pause. "Have we met before?" His confusion was evident, and Liza’s heart sank. Her thoughts raced. Why was he pretending? Didn’t he say we would meet soon? Just as she was trying to piece things together, the sound of footsteps made her stiffen. She turned her head sharply and saw Gavin walking into the lounge, his face lit with a faint, knowing smile. "What are you doing here?" she snapped, glaring at him. Gavin leaned casually against the doorframe, clearly enjoying the scene. "Just passing by," he said with a smirk. Liza’s jaw clenched. Great. Not only was her senior pretending not to know her, but now this annoying man was here to witness her embarrassment.Determined to salvage the situation, Liza turned back to Loruf and said pointedly, "Mr Loruf, I believe you understand why I’m here. I’m looking for someone." At her words, Loruf exchanged a bewildered glance with his manager. There was a long, awkward silence. Liza’s confident facade began to crumble. She had been so sure. Why wasn’t he acknowledging her? Was it because there were too many people around? Did he think it wasn’t the right time? Her mind spun with possible explanations, but the disappointment in her heart grew heavier. Maybe Senior didn’t want to see her at all. Maybe, to him, their connection was fleeting and insignificant. Despite the countless interactions they had shared online, she realized that she didn’t even know the most basic details about him—his real name, his age, or what he truly looked like. If Liza suddenly approached random men to start a conversation, she feared they’d think she was out of her mind. A heavy sense of disappointment settled over her. She sighed deeply, bowing politely toward Loruf. “I’m sorry for the disturbance,” she murmured, preparing to leave. Just as she turned to go, a deep, icy voice interrupted her. “Mr Loruf, I apologize,” Gavin said, stepping into the room with his usual calm demeanor. Before Liza could react, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back toward him. “My wife is… a little unusual. Please don’t take her too seriously,” he added nonchalantly. Liza froze in disbelief. What did he just say? Her eyes widened in outrage, and she puffed up her cheeks as she glared at him. “Who are you calling abnormal?” she hissed, raising her hand to land a punch on his arm.Gavin dodged effortlessly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. Calmly, he continued, “Mr Loruf, you’ve witnessed it yourself. She’s prone to sudden bouts of… instability.” Without giving Liza a chance to respond, Gavin dragged her out of the room. Left behind, Loruf watched the exchange with a thoughtful expression. So that’s why she had approached him so boldly, he mused. She wasn’t normal. Outside, Liza was fuming, her face flushed with anger. She yanked her arm free from Gavin’s grasp and glared at him. “What nonsense were you spouting in there?” she demanded. Unbothered by her fiery temper, Gavin replied smoothly, “If I didn’t say that, how else would I explain why you were acting so strange?” Liza opened her mouth to retort, but his logic made her falter. “He’s the one who refused to acknowledge me,” she mumbled, still feeling wronged. Gavin raised an eyebrow, an amused glint in his eyes. “And did you ever stop to think why that might be?” Her gaze sharpened. “What are you trying to say?” With a faint smile, he continued, “Do you really think it’s just because you’ve been ‘on each other’s minds’ all these years? Liza, has it ever crossed your mind… that you might’ve got the wrong person?” His words hit her like a bucket of cold water. Her pupils widened in disbelief. “Got the wrong person?” she repeated weakly. But that didn’t make sense. Mason had assured her that her senior would be here, and Loruf fit the description perfectly. Could she have overlooked something? Her mind raced, replaying everything she knew about her senior. The uncertainty left her feeling flustered, and she finally muttered defensively, “In any case, my senior and I share a very close bond.” Gavin was about to call Mason when he paused, hearing the frustration and determination in her voice.Liza’s expression turned despondent as she clenched her fists. “You don’t understand,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. “You’ll never understand the connection I have with my senior. We’ve known each other for ten years. Ten years! During all that time, we’ve supported each other, even from afar. When I was at my lowest, it was his encouragement that gave me the strength to keep going!”
