I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle
Gavin silently opened the jewelry box, took out the diamond ring, and slid it onto Liza’s finger. Without a word, he gently took her hand and led her out of the store. Liza blinked, confused. Her gaze shifted from the sparkling ring on her finger to Gavin’s calm expression. Was that it? Shouldn’t he say something? A romantic confession, perhaps? Instead, he’d put the ring on her finger and acted as though nothing had happened. George stood quietly nearby, his thoughts racing. Wait a second… wasn’t there supposed to be a matching ring for the man? Why didn’t the president mention they were a pair of couple rings? Two days later Liza had decided to keep her plans for the casting session to herself. Apart from Mason and the director, no one else knew she would be attending. Just as she prepared to leave, Gavin appeared at her side, his usual calm demeanor masking any emotion.“You forgot something,” he said, reaching out to take her hand. Before she could respond, he carefully slipped the diamond ring onto her finger again. She stared at the ring, then back at him, confused by his insistence. Was this about declaring her status as his wife? Was the ring supposed to send a message to someone? As soon as Liza stepped out of the house, George hurried forward with another ring in hand. “President, your ring.” Gavin accepted it with a small nod, his expression unreadable. George glanced down and internally sighed. So the president only bothers wearing his ring if someone else reminds him. What a flirt! The casting session was being held at a building in the heart of the film studio. Gavin stayed behind in the car, watching with a sharp, calculating gaze as Liza stepped out and made her way toward the venue. His expression darkened slightly as his fingers tapped rhythmically against the car door. “Who are the investors for this project?” he asked coldly. George quickly pulled up the information and froze when he saw the names. “President, one of the investors is Mr. Sam !” A flicker of disdain crossed Gavin’s face, and he tapped the car window with his knuckles. His lips curled into a faint, icy smile. “Mr. Sam ? He dares to think about my woman? How bold.” George’s heart skipped a beat as he hurried to respond, “President, I’ll handle it!” Gavin’s voice remained calm but carried a trace of warning. “We’re not thugs, Assistant George. There’s no need to be reckless. Remember, this is Liza’s script. If you’re going to intervene, do it wisely. Understand?” George immediately straightened and nodded. “Got it, President!”This is Young Madam’s debut project, he thought to himself. Anyone who tries to interfere has to be taken care of discreetly! Just as he opened the car door to step out, George hesitated and glanced back at Gavin with a cheeky grin. “President, Young Madam is seriously impressive! She’s a top translator, and now she’s proving she can write scripts too. Compared to her, aren’t you… well, a little dull?” His grin widened as he added, “You better watch her closely, President, or someone might steal her away!” Gavin didn’t react immediately, his sharp eyes lowering in thought. “Mm,” he replied simply, as though George’s words didn’t bother him at all. But George wasn’t done yet. “I’m being honest here, even if it’s not what you want to hear. I’m saying this for your own good, President. If you don’t—” Gavin’s gaze lifted lazily, a subtle smirk tugging at his lips. “Assistant George, isn’t your salary a bit… excessive?” George instantly fell silent, his cheerful grin vanishing. Why do I even bother? he thought bitterly as he stepped out of the car. I should just keep my mouth shut. … After heading upstairs, Liza made her way straight to the audition area. On the other side of the venue, Brandon’s eyes narrowed in surprise as he caught sight of a familiar figure. “Serena, isn’t that Liza?” he asked, frowning. Serena, accompanied by a few of her actress friends, turned to look. The moment her eyes landed on Liza, her body stiffened, and a flash of malice crossed her face. However, she quickly composed herself. After all, this was a public setting, surrounded by cameras and actors. She had to maintain her delicate and innocent image. “Brother Brandon, why is Sister here?” Serena asked softly, feigning confusion. “Could she be here for the audition too?” Brandon shook his head. “That doesn’t seem likely. She isn’t an actress, and I doubt your father would approve.” Serena’s eyes filled with mock helplessness as she sighed. “I didn’t expect my sister to harbor such resentment toward me. She must’ve come here after hearing that I’m auditioning. But she’s never studied acting. Brother Brandon, what should I do?” Her performance drew sympathetic looks from the group. Among them was a minor actress named Susan, who watched the exchange with growing interest. In recent days, Susan had heard plenty of whispers about Liza, particularly her remarkable victory over Davis in a translation competition. While many admired Liza’s skills, the entertainment industry largely remained unaware of her. Most of the actresses gathered here only knew vague rumors about a supposed rivalry between Liza and Serena, with Brandon at the center of it. Noticing Brandon’s disdainful attitude toward Liza, Susan quickly formed a plan. If she could publicly humiliate Liza and force her out of the audition, she might earn Brandon’s favor—and perhaps even that of the influential Stone Family, who had invested in the film. Susan excused herself, claiming she needed to use the bathroom, and headed in Liza’s direction. Liza reached the audition area but chose not to rush in immediately. She wanted to confirm the details about the role being cast that day. Just as she was about to call Mason for clarification, a sharp voice interrupted her thoughts. “Wow, is this the kind of place where just anyone can show up to audition? How ridiculous!” Liza turned her gaze toward the source of the comment, only to find a woman standing smugly in her path. It didn’t take long to realize the remark was directed at her. The woman, accompanied by her manager, sneered openly. Her manager’s expression mirrored her disdain as she chimed in, “This audition is for the role of Diane. What makes you think you’re qualified to be here? You’re clearly out of your depth! Let me tell you now—our Susan has already been pre-selected for this role!”Susan folded her arms confidently, her tone dripping with arrogance. “Exactly! The scriptwriter personally said I’m the perfect fit for Diane’s character. Why don’t you do yourself a favor and leave now, Liza? You’re only embarrassing yourself!” As if to punctuate her point, Susan’s manager added with a scoff, “Seriously, what’s going on with the security here? Are they just letting anyone wander in? This isn’t some public playground!” The two women looked at Liza with a mix of amusement and disdain, clearly expecting her to cower under their hostility.
