I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 101

Threatening her with Uncle James? Uncle James was the only person in the Sinclair Family who had shown her genuine kindness over the years. Liza had urged him on several occasions to leave the toxic environment of the Sinclair Family, but he had always refused. She couldn’t fully understand his attachment, but she knew he had deep-rooted feelings for the family, feelings that kept him tied to it. But if Mr Sinclair dared to expel him... Liza’s voice turned cold, like ice forming in a storm. “Fine. I’ll be there in thirty minutes.” Thirty Minutes Later Liza arrived at the door of Mr Sinclair’s office, and even before entering, she could hear his servile voice fawning over someone inside. “President Reed, it’s all a misunderstanding! A complete misunderstanding. I’ll have Liza apologize to you immediately. Would you prefer tea or coffee? My secretary can bring it right away,” Mr Sinclair gushed. A sharp, disdainful laugh followed. Victor Reed’s voice was crisp and dismissive. “I wouldn’t dare drink anything you serve. President Sinclair, you raised a daughter bold enough to plot against the Reed Family. There’s nothing left to discuss about this collaboration.” Panic seeped into Mr Sinclair’s tone. “President Reed, you’ve got it all wrong! Liza hasn’t been part of our family for years—she ran away a long time ago. Her actions have nothing to do with us! Please don’t hold this against the Sinclair Family. You wanted her to apologize, didn’t you? She’ll be here soon.” Victor Reed observed him with thinly veiled contempt, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk. “Didn’t you just say she has nothing to do with the Sinclair Family? So why are you asking her to apologize on your behalf?” Caught off guard, Mr Sinclair stiffened before straightening up. “Liza carries the Sinclair surname, and I am her father. She has no choice but to obey me for the rest of her life! Rest assured, President Reed, once she arrives, you may handle her however you see fit. Whether she suffers or not is entirely up to you. All that matters is that your anger is appeased.” A faint smile played on Victor Reed’s lips, though his eyes remained cold. “So, you agree that Liza was wrong and deserves punishment?” Before Mr Sinclair could respond, Victoria, who had been standing nearby, stepped forward with a sugary yet condescending tone. “President Reed, Liza is entirely to blame for this mess. She’s always been stubborn and unwilling to adapt. Miss Sophia was merely joking—just harmless fun. But Liza? She overreacted and made a mountain out of a molehill. She’s completely insensible!” Victor Reed nodded in apparent agreement. “Madam Victoria, you’ve hit the nail on the head.” Victoria’s eyes lit up with unrestrained delight at his words. For years, she had endured the disdain of high society as “Madam Sinclair,” a title that marked her as a mistress rather than a legitimate wife. But now, hearing Victor Reed call her “Madam Victoria” felt like an acknowledgment of her status as the true matriarch of the Sinclair Family. “Since you all believe Liza is in the wrong, I won’t argue with a junior,” Victor Reed said with a casual shrug. “Here’s a simple solution: send Liza overseas. I won’t ask for much. Do that, and this incident will be behind us. We can continue our cooperation as planned.” Victoria’s heart leapt at his words. The thought of Liza being sent away couldn’t have been more appealing. Ever since the last debacle, Liza had undergone a dramatic transformation, becoming unpredictable and increasingly difficult to control. Victoria had been growing uneasy, convinced that Liza would only become a bigger threat over time. Victor Reed’s suggestion was a gift she didn’t intend to refuse. “President Reed, you’re absolutely right,” Victoria agreed eagerly, her voice laced with false humility. “Liza has indeed been spoiled by us. She doesn’t understand the seriousness of her actions. Rest assured, we’ll send her overseas for proper education.”Just as Victoria was basking in her imagined triumph, the door creaked open. The sound turned her attention, and when she spotted Liza standing at the entrance, her forced smile froze, quickly replaced by a scowl. “Liza, you’re here,” Victoria said stiffly. Victor Reed glanced at Liza with disdain. “President Sinclair, Madam Victoria, I assume you know what needs to be done now?” Mr Sinclair nodded solemnly, addressing Liza with a tone as sharp as a blade. “Liza, you’ve disgraced the Sinclair Family by offending Miss Sophia and stirring up trouble. Your mother and I have already made a decision. You’ll be sent overseas tomorrow.” Leaning casually against the doorframe, Liza cocked her head, her expression calm but her tone laced with mockery. “My mother, you say? When did you have this conversation with her? She’s been dead for years. Did she pay you a visit in your dreams, or did you travel to heaven to consult her?”Mr Sinclair’s face darkened with fury. “Liza! Don’t act so nonchalant. Is this the attitude the Sinclair Family has instilled in you? As a member of this family, it’s bad enough that you contribute nothing to the company, but you’ve gone so far as to disgrace us publicly. And now you refuse to show remorse?” Liza idly flicked at her ear as if his words were nothing more than background noise. “Disgrace, you say? What exactly have I done to disgrace the family?” “Don’t play dumb with me!” Mr Sinclair snapped. “Do you think we’re blind to what you did at the Reed Family’s banquet? You humiliated Miss Sophia in front of everyone! That’s the trouble you’ve caused. Now that President Reed is here, get down on your knees and apologize this instant!”
