The Council's Arcane Academy
Jocelyn’s p.o.v. Erylis is in her element, running behind the convoy and in the company of Wolves. The only thing we both miss is the mind-link, at the moment we can only talk to Indigo and Kardia and even though I love them to death, it becomes boring. We can’t talk to Joseph or Griffin and they are right beside us at the moment, maybe I need to talk to Indigo about joining Little Crescent Pack. It will also make it easier to inform others, if I manage to see or hear something they haven’t and they can warn me of danger. I think that is the reason why Griffin is staying this close to Erylis, but so far she seems comfortable enough. “Indi, we need to talk.” I say through the mind-link. “Maybe we should join Little Crescent Pack, get a mind-link with the rest of the Pack.” I know that she heard me, but I don’t get a response immediately and I almost consider calling out to her again. “Kardia and I agree with you, it would make so many things a lot easier.” Indigo finally responds and I know that we will need to talk to Alpha Inti in the morning. Breakfast is a perfect moment, unless we run into some sort of trouble again. Griffin keeps running close to Erylis and they brush past one another every now and then, sending Erylis in a fit of giggles. She likes how Griffin makes her feel and she hopes I am willing to give Joseph a chance, she wants to know where this might lead. I look at our surroundings through Erylis’ eyes and I see a mountain ridge I recognize from our map, it was the one part of the route I wasn’t too confident about. “Kardia, get Ronion to the SUV. I forgot to tell them something.” I call out over our mind-link and Erylis is already on her way to the SUV, Griffin right behind her. Joey tosses a dress out the window and I pull it over my head, once I have shifted back to Human form. Griffin and Ronion don’t need to be asked, they give control back to their Humans and the convoy slowly comes to a stop. “Joey, can you give me both maps?” I ask and he hands them to me without a question, he knows I saw something on them the other day. I places both maps on the hood of the SUV and point at the same spot on both maps, but only on my map does it show the territory of a Pack. This Pack is smaller or the same size as Little Crescent Pack. “I have no idea which map is up to date, but I don’t think it is wise to take a risk.” I say and I see that Herold has joined us, all three are looking at the map and one another. “We need to go by that territory, whether we like it or not. If there is a Pack living there, they might become a threat to us and there is also the possibility that they are long gone. How do you want to proceed, Alpha?” I ask Inti. He doesn’t respond immediately, he is still looking at the maps and he can see that we have no other choice. This is our only way to the next clearing and the fastest way to White Mountain Pack, the place we all want to go to. “Herold, take a group of eight with you. Send two back the moment you have enough information and we will make further plans after that, we can’t take any risks.” Inti says and I see eight Wolves moving to the front of the convoy. Herold allows Armon to take control and a second later the nine Wolves run towards the territory. I just hope that the Pack moved away on their own or are friendly enough to let us pass, I am not looking forward to fighting another Pack that is trying to survive. “Alpha, can we join your Pack?” Indigo says and I see Joseph and Inti look at one another. “We aren’t going back, at least not any time soon and it will make things like this a little easier. We talked about and this is the most logical thing to do.” I tell them and I see them both smile, before Inti walks away to another SUV. “Welcome to the Pack, Indigo and Jocelyn.” Joseph says through the mind-link and for the first time in days, I feel whole again.I check on Jenna and Faye, before I turn my attention to Joey and hand him one of the painkillers Doc gave me. I know they will make him drowsy, but if something is going to happen, at least he will be out. “Go to sleep, Joey. Your body needs the rest to heal and if you sleep now, you will be awake enough in the morning to keep an eye on Faye and Jenna for me.” I say teasingly and I kiss his forehead, as he gets comfortable on the backseat. I softly close the door of the SUV and after folding both maps I place them inside the dashboard, before I walk over to Indigo. Now we need to wait for Herold, we need to know if we can keep moving or not and just as I am to open my mouth I hear paws pounding the ground. Every Wolf moves a little closer to the convoy, each of them ready for an attack. “Alpha, we need to move. The Pack was attacked, most of it burnt to the ground but there are survivors.” One of the Wolves says over the mind-link, both of them keep circling, ready to start moving again.“Doc, get in the SUV with your supplies. Get as much ready on the way, we will deal with the rest when we get there.” Inti calls out and a moment later Ronion has taken his place. I toss the dress back into the SUV and shift into Erylis as I step back, we stay close to Griffin at the rear of the convoy. “Start running patrol the moment we get there, keep an eye out for their border markings. Female Warriors will be our second line of defense, the rest moves to the middle of the territory.” Joseph orders through the mind-link and I know that I will go to the middle of the territory, just to keep an eye on things. We are traveling a lot faster than we have done tonight, but I know that Inti hopes we can save a few of Wolves or Lycans in that territory.
