The Council's Arcane Academy
Aziza’s P.O.V. I walk in to the office and I hate this room even more than I already did, Hunter pulls me in to his arms. “Don’t tell me they had some good news.” He says teasingly and it actually makes me giggle. “That depends, if you consider that only the underaged males didn’t commit crimes as good news.” I say and he pulls me even closer to his chest. We both hear Ragnar growl and I decided to chalk it up to my words. “The women in the dining-room are all unmated and for that reason there was no one that could stop them from talking to me. All the mated females are not allowed to leave their homes without a chaperone. Every female in this Pack is willing to testify against Roger and every male that wronged them. Some also involve Talon and one involves Ayden, so we can add some charges to both of them. But my main concern is, how do we get to the mated females? I don’t think that the five of you can handle that and we don’t have enough cells in the dungeons to lock them all up.” I say as I look at the men. Kaiden suggest to round them up one by one, but Ragnar and I object at the same time. “Ragnar, why do you think that is not a good idea?” I ask and his reasoning is accurate. “You are right. The first one we capture will warn the others and that might mean an attack on us. I suggest we call Armas and tell him about our predicament, maybe he can come up with a solution.” Ragnar’s P.O.V. Something is different with Aziza and I am not sure if I like this turn of events. It is almost as if there is a wall up around her, not that the men are aware of it and even I hadn’t noticed it at first. It wasn’t until she spoke directly to me that I noticed a change in her. It wasn’t outspoken, it was just very subtle and yet it was also very clear to me. Donny has been howling in my head since we discovered the change in her and I doubt he will calm down any time soon. I tell her that I will contact Armas and ask him for his advice on this matter. I walk out of the office and in the meantime I dial Armas’ number. “Council-member Armas, this is Ragnar. Aziza has just informed us of a situation in this Pack that we can not handle without help.” I say as I close the door to my room. We discuss our options for almost half an hour, before we have a solution for the situation here. Five minutes later as I walk back in to the office my phone rings and I answer it quickly when I see who is calling. “Hi Mom, to what do I owe this pleasure?” I ask and she gives me an earful on my awful behavior, before she starts laughing. She asks me if I remember the discussions she always had with her Sister on fated Mates and I groan out loud. The Squad and Aziza are staring at me and I just shake my head. “Yes, Mom. I remember those discussions and as I remember you never saw eye to eye on the subject with her.” Is my reply and when she tells me that my Aunt might have been right, I burst out in laughter. It takes me a few minutes to pull myself together and I ask her why Aunt Vivyanna might be right. “She met Prince Xandros and they both are experiencing what the researchers had uncovered centuries ago. They want to wait for the Full Moon to confirm it, but she is convinced that he is her Mate.” She keeps talking, but I barely register what she is saying. My mind is trying to process what she just said, but it is as if my mind is running in slow-motion. “Ragnar, I know you are busy, so I will hang up now. I just wanted to let you know that your Aunt was on to something.” We say our goodbyes and then I disconnect the call. Gunnar is the only one left in the office and he tells me that the others are in the Archive waiting for us. I slowly get up as Gunnar is half way to the door, my mind is still trying to catch up to the conversation with Mom and I know from past experiences that it will take a while before it will make sense to me. We go through file after file until Gunnar says it is lunch-time and with a sigh of relief we all get up to grab something to eat. As usual we are the only ones there and Chase asks Aziza for details on what the women told her. She tells us to check our tablets because she send us her notes on the conversation and once again I am amazed at the way she works. As we eat we all read through her notes, her demeanor when she entered the office finally makes sense. One of the women had told Aziza that Roger had been cruel growing up, taking after his Father in that regard. However he had became more and more cruel as the years passed and even though most had been done in secrecy it had become extreme when he was thirty-nine. Something had happened back then and it had changed him so much that most Packs started to keep their unmated females away from him. No one could prove anything, but the rumors had been bad. Another told her that after the death of his Mate , Meara, he had stopped hiding his violence against women and that he and the males in the Pack had shown openly what they did to women. One even recalled that Talon had shown up with his Mate one day and Roger had taken her in the hallway for all to see. Roger and Talon had made her watch as they “punished” a woman for disobeying her Mate. I notice that all of us have stopped eating as we are reading her notes, I know that I have lost my appetite and I push my plate aside as I continue reading. Donny roars out loud when I read her notes on Rosa and what Ayden did to her with the use of his Wolf. Roger’s P.O.V. Ever since Ynanna was called out of the Chamber, I have been wondering when she would come back and I was disappointed that an hour later the guards had walked me back to my cage. It has been over twenty-four hours since she left and I am starting to wonder what she might have heard from the Investigator, but there is so much I have done in my life that I have no idea what she might have been able to dig up. My Archive is a deliberate mess and I know that no one will go through it with a fine toothcomb. I never reported anything to the Council, no deaths, no matings, no births. That Investigator will never get any answers from the males and females in my Pack, especially the females will be to scared to say anything to the Investigator and my men will avoid her. Ynanna tricked me when it came to Perryn and she pissed me off to get the story on Sofia, but that is all they will ever get. My death will leave them with tons of unanswered questions.
