The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 542 Do You Need Our Assistance?

Lance seemed a little dissatisfied. He swayed as he sat upright and began pouring himself another drink. "You can't drink anymore." Addison quickly tried to stop him. She wanted him to drink, yes, but not to the point of overdoing it. If he drank too much and got completely wasted, there'd be no way for her to ask him any questions. Lance smiled at her. "Just one more glass." With that, he picked up the glass on the table. This time, he didn't down it all in one gulp like before but instead lowered his head and sipped it slowly. Addison glanced at him, noticing his deliberate sipping. The words she was about to say remained unspoken. Although Lance didn't look entirely sober, sipping lightly shouldn't hurt, right? She decided to let it go and picked up her small wine cup, taking slow, delicate sips. Lance sat beside her, the two of them close enough that she could feel his quiet presence. The man kept his head down, sipping his drink in silence, like a faint, delicate silhouette against the stillness of the room. Not long after, he slumped back onto the table, seemingly falling into a deep sleep. This time, Addison truly felt relieved. She set her cup down on the table and was just about to stand up when a knock suddenly came from the door. "Who is it?" "Ma'am, I'm the restaurant manager." "What's the matter?" "There's a minor issue ... Would you mind opening the door?" Addison frowned and glanced back at Lance, who was slumped over the table and half-asleep. She hesitated for a moment, then decided to open the door. "What's the matter?" A middle-aged man in a black suit appeared at the door. He wasn't the same younger manager from before—the one who had been so scared by Lance that his legs were trembling.Addison raised an eyebrow immediately. Did they switch people? "Hello, I noticed someone at your table seems to have had too much to drink. Do you need our assistance?" Her frown deepened. She still had to get information out of Lance. If the restaurant staff took him away, how would she manage that? There was no way she could let them help—she needed a private, uninterrupted space. "No need." However, the manager still looked a little worried. "Are you sure you don't need any help?" Addison picked up on his concerns and immediately shifted her demeanor, softening her expression and letting a gentle smile curve her lips. "Don't worry. Nothing's going to happen. "If something does come up, I'll make sure to find you immediately. "And if by then, you're unwilling to help, I'll still make sure your restaurant steps in."Addison's smile was gentle, radiating an irresistible warmth that exuded an innate charm, making it hard for anyone to refuse her. Faced with the beauty's radiant smile, the previously stern-faced manager instantly fell silent. He lowered his head in immediate surrender. "Alright, then. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call us. "Enjoy your meal." "Thank you," Addison replied politely. Once the door to the private room was fully closed, the smile on her face faded completely. Addison pulled a chair over and sat across from Lance. Her eyes fixed on the man slumped over the table. "Lance, wake up." She called him three times before Lance slowly stirred awake. His gaze lifted lazily to meet hers. Addison clenched her hands tightly. Her voice trembling as she began, "Lance, there's something I need to ask you."
