The Replacement He Never Wanted
In truth, Virginia had never seen Lance shower before. Whenever he was in the bathroom, she wasn't even allowed to get close, let alone enter. "Ms. Dolton, didn't you say you were going in? So, why haven't you moved?" Addison's calm voice broke through Virginia's daze. "Are you suddenly feeling scared?" Addison added with a hint of teasing. Virginia quickly raised her voice in protest. "No way! Who said I'm scared? I was just thinking about something!" As she spoke, her hands moved to the doorknob. Outwardly, she appeared calm and composed, but only Virginia knew how fast her heart was racing. After all, she had never dared to do something as bold as barging into Lance's bathroom. With a mix of excitement and nervousness swirling in her chest, she took a deep breath and slowly pressed down on the doorknob. However, just as Virginia was about to open the door, a hand reached out from the other side and pulled it open first.Standing before her was Lance, now dressed in his usual dark-toned loungewear. His sharp, chiseled features, paired with his cold expression, made him look like he'd just walked out of a snowstorm, frozen and unapproachable. "What's this? You said you didn't want to, but now you're even trying to peek while I change?" he remarked. Lance didn't bother to check who was outside and simply assumed it was Addison pulling at the handle. It was obvious his comment was meant for her. "Lan—Lance ... " Virginia stammered. She was startled by his sudden appearance. I hadn'tevenfullyputpressureonthedoorknobyetand Lance had comeoutsoabruptly. It'sterrifying. The soft, timid tone of her voice instantly caught Lance's attention. Something felt off. Addison's voice was always calm and gentle, with an underlying strength. This voice, however, was completely different.Lowering his gaze, Lance finally noticed Virginia standing there, her face as delicate and sorrowful as ever. "Virginia? What are you doing here?" His tone held a hint of surprise. Virginia being here could only mean one thing—Addison was gone. The realization made Lance's expression darken. Without thinking, his eyes shifted toward the bed in the bedroom. Sure enough, Addison was nowhere to be seen. For some reason, his mood turned stormy. The coldness already etched into his features deepened with faint traces of anger. "Lance ... what's wrong? You suddenly look upset ... " Virginia tried to follow his gaze, noticing that he seemed to be looking in Addison's direction. "Lance, did Addison do something to upset you?" she pressed on. She was desperately trying to keep his attention on her. But Lance ignored her completely, brushing past her as he strode toward the door.Had Addison leftwithoutmypermission? Does shethinkshecouldjustleavewhenevershewanted? I had beenfartoolenientwithherrecently. Lance quickened his pace as his mind was focused entirely on how he was going to "catch her". However, before he could get far, he spotted a figure at the corner of the hallway. He stopped in his tracks, and as he took a closer look, he realized it was Addison. She stood leaning casually against the wall, looking slightly tired, perhaps due to the late hour.
