The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 416 I Have Handled Lance for You

Her chest tightened as she quickly ducked her head, trying to slip away unnoticed before Marilyn see her. If Marilyn saw her, she would surely insist that she stay in Lance's room. "Addison, come here. I need to talk to you." But Marilyn's sharp eyes had already spotted her. That commanding voice rang out behind her, and Addison turned around with resignation, forcing a polite smile. "Marilyn, what is it? Do you need something?" "I heard you plan to stay in the servants' quarters? "What's going on? Has Lance been treating you poorly or giving you attitude?" Marilyn took Addison's hand. Her tone was warm and full of concern, with a hint of gentle persuasion. "No, not at all." "I just ... " She didn't even get to finish her sentence before Marilyn's voice softly continued in her ear."I gave Lance a proper scolding earlier. "I've already spoken to him, and now he wouldn't dare show you any attitude. Go ahead and sleep in the master bedroom with peace of mind." Marilyn's warm, genuine eyes stayed fixed on her, her soft smile unwavering as she spoke in her usual gentle manner. "Wh-what?" For a brief moment, Addison was stunned. Marilyn had actually spoken to Lance? "You silly girl ... " Marilyn said with a touch of resignation, lightly flicking Addison's forehead with her finger. "I said you can rest easy and sleep in the master bedroom. I've handled Lance for you." Before Addison could react, Marilyn pushed her straight toward the master bedroom door. Addison tried to resist, but Marilyn was too quick. Before she could take more than a couple of steps, Marilyn had already knocked on the door. The door opened from inside, revealing Lance's sharp, cold features. It was obvious that Lance had just showered.A loose white bathrobe hung on his body, the V-neck plunging deeply and exposing a significant portion of his chest. Beneath the neckline, his smooth, alluring skin was visible, with water droplets clinging to it and trailing down the defined contours of his muscles. The stark contrast between his icy gaze and his exposed skin was utterly captivating. Addison froze in place, staring at the man in front of her. Had Marilyn not been standing nearby, she might have instinctively covered her eyes. Marilyn noticed the faint redness creeping up Addison's ears and couldn't stop herself from grinning inwardly. This was exactly the reaction she had hoped for. "Addison, hurry up and get in there to sleep," Marilyn urged, pushing Addison forward. "Lance, you'd better take good care of Addison. If you don't, I'll make sure you regret it." Marilyn's push sent Addison stumbling a few steps forward, straight toward the man's chest. As the sight of his bare skin came into view, she frantically shook her head internally. Noway ... I can'tletthishappen! She absolutely couldn't crash into Lance! In that split second of danger, Addison's eyes widened as she summoned every ounce of strength to halt her momentum, her hand quickly coming to rest just in front of Lance's abs. She stopped mere inches from him and let out a long breath of relief.
