The Replacement He Never Wanted
"Really?" Matthew was initially shocked, then appeared doubtful. "How can that be?" He struggled to accept that there could be another place besides the Daves where Greenhill ornitongue existed. "I definitely saw it last time," Tobias said with confidence, his tone firm and unwavering. Matthew still couldn't accept it, shaking his head. "You must have made a mistake." He was so sure because Greenhill ornitongue had very specific growing needs, and there were hardly any places in the country where it could thrive. It seemed impossible for anyone to successfully cultivate it outside of Herbs Valley. Noticing his continued disbelief, Tobias smiled. He then rubbed his hands together, patted his shoulder, and said with assurance, "I'm certain I didn't make a mistake! "The plant looked exactly like Greenhill ornitongue. With my sharp eyes, I couldn't have been wrong." Tobias wasn't someone who had never experienced the world. Even though he didn't have Greenhill ornitongue in his possession, that didn't mean he hadn't seen it before. He might not have eaten caviar, but he had certainly seen it! Upon hearing such a firm promise, Matthew's face grew serious. Could such a genius really exist? Someone capable of overcoming such difficult growing conditions and successfully cultivating Greenhill ornitongue? If a person like that truly existed, they would be exceptionally skilled. His interest was piqued, so much so that he forgot the fan in his hand. Due to the greenhouse effect, the temperature and humidity in Herbs Valley have been fluctuating. As a result, many valuable medicinal plants there have become delicate and easily affected by the changing climate, with some rare species nearing extinction. Even the herbs the Daves have worked so hard to cultivate are not immune.Because of this, Matthew has devoted himself to studying how the growing environment of medicinal plants has been shifting in recent years. But in the middle of his research, he hit a major obstacle and couldn't find any new leads. When he heard that such a genius actually existed, he knew he had to ask more questions. He stroked his beard, raised an eyebrow, and looked at Tobias. "Do you recall where you saw this tea?" Tobias frowned, focusing hard on trying to remember. "Where did I see it?" After a brief pause, he hesitated before speaking, "I think I saw it in a hospital in Halton." "Halton?" Matthew's expression grew more intense at the mention of Halton. "Yes, it was Halton." Tobias' voice shifted from uncertain to confident as the memory came back to him. The last time he visited Halton, he was there to discuss a partnership with the hospital. The director had been so thrilled that he pulled out an entire jar of Greenhill ornitongue from the cabinet. He had been stunned at the time, amazed that a tea so rare and hard to find had become so easily accessible. This surprise left him with a lasting impression of that hospital. Matthew showed no emotion on his face, but deep down, his thoughts were in turmoil. Halton is the place where Addison resides. Back then, Addison insisted on marrying into the Johnstons, and yet she hasn't even returned once since then. In his mind, Halton is not known for having a strong medical field. The only family in Halton worth admiring is the Johnstons. If Tobias' words are correct, then the person with exceptional abilities must come from the Johnstons. Tobias knitted his brows, still trying to recall. "But I can't remember the name of the hospital in Halton." "You didn't remember?"Matthew's expression briefly showed disappointment. "Did you really forget?" he asked once more, pressing the matter. "I really did forget." Tobias laughed awkwardly. "Do you think if I knew, I wouldn't tell you?" He honestly couldn't recall. Matthew nodded quietly. Is it related to the Johnstons? He felt a mix of emotions. "But why are you asking about this?" Tobias raised an eyebrow, looking a bit curious. Matthew dismissed it with a wave. "It's nothing. "I just figured that someone who can get Greenhill ornitongue must have some talent." His tone was relaxed, yet it seemed like something was on his mind. If it is someone from the Johnstons, it would mean that the Johnstons are stronger than he had imagined. Maybe Lance really is as skilled as they say. As they were speaking, a waiter rushed past, looking like something urgent had come up. "Mr. Matthew, is this the White Tasselroot you were talking about?" The waiter, dressed in a suit, was holding two lively grass plants. The grass had an unusual color, a mix of white and black, making it look gray overall. The plants were pulled out with their roots intact, and the rhizomes still had soil clinging to them, looking very fresh. The waiter hurried over to Matthew, holding the two grasses in his hands. "What do you think you're doing?" Tobias yelled, stopping the waiter. "How dare you be so disrespectful? Do you even know who's in front of you? You can't just make a scene like that! "You won't be getting your paycheck for this month."The waiter, reprimanded by his boss, froze with a smile plastered on his face, unsure whether to put the grass down or not. "I ... " "What do you mean 'I'? Get out of here, now!" Tobias' expression was fierce, as though he might slap the waiter at any moment. The waiter's face turned pale immediately. Seeing things were escalating, Matthew quickly raised his hand. "Young man, put down what you're holding." Even though he had spent an hour searching for medicinal herbs, what he found wasn't White Tasselroot. The young man in front of him had been so focused on helping, not even noticing the dirt on his face; he was a decent person. Matthew dedicated his entire life to researching different medicinal plants and helping those in need. He was generally warm-hearted and treated those around him with great kindness. As expected, he preferred not to be strict with others. In contrast, Tobias was clearly the type of businessman with a short temper. "Drop the items and leave." The waiter, who had just begun to relax due to Matthew's calm demeanor, immediately became frightened and began to shake. This kind of reaction was clearly familiar to him, as Tobias often scolded him. In this tense moment, another bodyguard unexpectedly entered from outside. He was about to speak when he said, "Outside ... " However, he quickly sensed that something was off in the air. Tobias shot him a glance, causing him to swallow his words. After a brief pause, he leaned closer to Tobias and whispered, "Mr. Berg, there's someone outside who wants to speak with Divine Healer." "Who?" Tobias narrowed his eyes, his voice sharp."Lance Johnston from Halton." Lance Johnston? Tobias' eyes flashed with a trace of mockery. Where did the Johnstons even come from? He had never heard of it before. How dare someone so insignificant request to meet Divine Healer? Did they not understand their own position? Divine Healer wasn't someone anyone could simply visit on a whim. Tobias' expression grew stern, and without a second thought, he snapped, "Tell him to leave." "Understood." The bodyguard never questioned his boss' commands and immediately left to carry out the order. "Hold on." Tobias seemed to recall something and signaled for the bodyguard to return. He stroked his chin thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing. "I don't recall sending an invitation to the Johnstons. How did he manage to get in?" The bodyguard hesitated. "I ... I'm not sure ... " Tobias' gaze hardened as he fell into deep thought. After a brief pause, he said, "Tell him to leave for now, and let him know that the Divine Healer isn't someone anyone can meet!"
