The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 257 Never Find Another Man

"Lance, what are you doing?!" Addison exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at her reddened wrist from his tight grip. The throbbing in her wrist reminded her that not only had he not loosened his grip, but he was actually tightening it. "Lance, have you lost your mind?" Pain shot through her, and Addison, no longer concerned with politeness, spoke with an angry tone. If he kept squeezing like this, Addison wouldn't be surprised if her wrist broke at any moment. There is no need to continue attending this symposium, just go to the hospital directly. "Let go, you're hurting me! If you don't let me go, I'll call security!" Lance snapped back to reality at the sound of her angry shout. He raised his eyes, and the emotions in them seemed ready to overwhelm him. Was it possessiveness, jealousy, or maybe just frustration? Lance didn't understand his own feelings, nor could he control the emotions rising inside him. All he knew was that he wanted to hold the woman tightly, to crush her and press her into his body. He wanted to make sure she couldn't move, to make sure she would never find another man. Seeing that her angry shout had no effect on him, Addison felt a twinge of panic and quickly began thinking of another way to handle it. She couldn't let her wrist keep hurting. Clenching her teeth, she glanced around. The atmosphere was lively, and there were many people, all wearing smiles and politely raising their glasses to toast each other. Despite the liveliness, there was an underlying sense of loneliness and a pretense. With no other options, Addison had to resort to shouting for help, hoping someone would come to her rescue. "Help ... " She barely managed to get the words out when he quickly sensed her intention and reached out, covering her mouth with his palm. Lance's hand was large and cold. The icy touch pressed against Addison's lips, and his fingers gently traced her smooth, delicate face, evoking an indescribable sensation. In a swift motion, the man swept Addison into his arms. Forced by the man, Addison was compelled to walk forward. The atmosphere around her suddenly turned gloomy, and cold breezes brushed against her face. In just a few seconds, the two of them were back on the platform. Addison felt a sense of hopelessness, unsure of what to say for a moment. She was stuck, with no one to turn to. Lance was so close to her, his body practically pressed against hers, and her breath seemed to brush against his neck. The scent was familiar, yet strangely unfamiliar. Altough they were only inches apart, it felt to Lance as though everything was slipping beyond his control. His heart was pounding, his fingertips were twitching, his legs were trembling, his ears were ringing, and even his neck was twitching ... His hand, tightly gripping hers, was also trembling ... "Let me go." Addison's voice suddenly cut through the tension, interrupting him. "Let you go? So you can go off and have your secret rendezvous? "You even put the shoes by the door on purpose, didn't you? Was that to make sure I saw them? Was it meant to upset me?" Addison looked at him in shock. "I put them there on purpose?" She took a deep breath. "Why would I want you to see them?" I'm not crazy. Why would she put the shoes on the rack? That was practically begging Lance to notice that she was living with Dr. Daves. Then Lance would know she was a Daves. "Mr. Johnston, you should understand that we're no longer involved. There's no need for you to keep pulling me around here."Virginia is here too. It wouldn't be good for her to see this," Addison said with a cold tone. Lance gritted his teeth as he listened to her, his gaze fixed on her. Out of nowhere, he spoke, his voice low and harsh, "Addison, you're becoming more and more capable." Addison turned to look at him, only to realize that his eyes were bloodshot, almost completely red, veins crawling across his gaze. Through the bloodshot surface of his eyes, there was a cold, piercing gaze that seemed as if it could cut straight through Addison. She had never seen him with such an expression before, and for a moment, she was taken aback. Unconsciously, she lowered her voice. "Let me go ... " "Let go?" The man scoffed. "I let go, and then you go back to that man you're living with? "To have you carry the title as my wife's while you're fooling around with another man?!" What does Addison take me for?! I'm still alive! Addison shook her head, twisting her wrist and using all her strength to try to break free. "What are you talking about?" The man before her looked frightening. Although she had seen Lance angry before, this was nothing like those times. She had even seen Lance angry with Virginia before. His face was incredibly tense, and his brows were furrowed. But no matter how angry he had been with Virginia ... He had never seemed so visibly out of control like this before. "What am I talking about? Can't you understand what I'm saying?" Now, Lance's eyes were filled with a dark and terrifying intensity, as if she'd touched some untouchable spot inside him. It was clear he was on the edge of breaking down. Addison's face paled slightly. She didn't understand why Lance had suddenly become like this. Did she say something that upset him? But as she thought it over carefully, she realized she hadn't said anything wrong ... had she? What's going on with him? Is it possessiveness? Or does he feel like me living with another man is somehow damaging to his pride? ... Georgina, pulled along by Virginia, found herself in the crowd. Just as Virginia had said, she was indeed walking ahead of Georgina. With her delicate, soft figure, she squeezed through the crowd, using her slender shoulder to open a path for Georgina. Georgina silently followed behind her, but her eyes never left the platform. "Ms. Hamilton, is there anything specific you wanted to see? We've got a bunch of drug trials going on. Just let me know if you want to check one out," Virginia said, looking back at her. Georgina nodded. "Oh ... Okay ... " But before Virginia had taken more than a couple of steps, Georgina suddenly called out to her. "Ms. Dolton ... " "Yes?" Virginia turned around, her gaze soft. "What's wrong?" Georgina hesitated for a moment, then said, "Um ... I suddenly need to use the restroom. Can you wait for me here?" "Suddenly need to go to the restroom?" Virginia looked innocent, nodded without suspicion. "Do you want me to come with you?" "No, it's fine," Georgina quickly replied, waving her hand. She gave Virginia a look that said she was fine, then left, glancing back every few steps as she walked away. "You stay here and wait for me. I'll be back in just a moment." Virginia nodded with a firm look of trust in her eyes. "Okay!" Once she left Virginia behind, Georgina didn't hesitate. She made her way straight to the spot where Addison and Lance had been standing earlier. However, as she hurried over, she found that neither Addison nor Lance was in sight. Huh? Georgina glanced around, but they were indeed gone ... Where did the two of them go? Wasn't Lance just running around begging for invitations to cure Mr. Johnston's illness? How had Addison arrived, and just like that, both he and his focus were completely swept away? Had he really forgotten about his own grandfather so easily?
