The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 219 Georgina Hamilton

Virginia stumbled toward the car, her steps shaky. Samuel, watching the woman slip away right under his nose, tightened his grip on the rope in his hands, desperately trying to pursue her. He couldn't afford to let the woman get away. After all, he had worked so hard to catch her—how would he explain it to Troy if she ran off now? But the bodyguards trailing behind him were proving too difficult to shake off. They weren't attacking him directly; they were simply holding him back, clearly trying to buy time. No matter how much he tried to break free, he couldn't get rid of them. The moment he dealt with one, another one appeared, sticking to him like stubborn gum. All he could do was watch as Virginia made her way toward the car. Dragging her injured leg, leaving a trail of blood behind her, she limped toward the vehicle, step by painful step. The young woman sitting in the car, seeing her struggle, felt a pang of sympathy. When Virginia was about a short distance away, that woman couldn't bear it any longer. She wanted to get out of the car to help Virginia. Just as she was about to rise, a bodyguard stopped her. "Ms. Georgina, it's too dangerous outside. You cannot go." "But she's in such a bad state!" the woman replied, her voice full of urgency. She wanted nothing more than to bring Virginia into the safety of the car. "Don't worry. She won't be harmed. Please stay seated." But the woman wasn't having any of it. She insisted, "She's hurt. Her leg is bleeding, and she can't walk fast enough." The bodyguard tried to reason with her. "It's already dangerous enough that you're trying to rescue someone. If you get hurt, how will we explain it to Mr. Hamilton? "Just stay in the car, please."There are so many bodyguards around, there's no need to worry. But if something happens to you, we won't be able to explain it to your father." The woman's face showed a flicker of hesitation, but she clearly wasn't willing to back down. She had been asked by her father to go to a medical consultation to deliver some documents to Leon. Her family had a favorable relationship with the Daves. Both families possessed equal power. A strong partnership could create something greater than the sum of its parts. At first, she hadn't wanted to go, but Curtis Hamilton promised that if she did, he would buy her the sports car she had always dreamed of. The opportunity to get her hands on her dream car for free was too good to pass up. And since she was already in Halton, it was practically on the way. So, she agreed. But before she even arrived at the medical consultation, she witnessed a group of cruel men dragging a girl into a car. It was a kidnapping! She hated injustice with all her heart. How could she stand by while such a thing happened in front of her? Naturally straightforward and with a strong sense of justice, she wouldn't allow something so vile to go unchallenged. Without hesitation, she ignored Jim and the bodyguards' attempts to stop her and gave the order to rescue the girl. They followed the group of men to the abandoned warehouse, but unfortunately, she was too late. The poor girl was already injured. Georgina Hamilton's eyes stayed fixed on Virginia, worried she might suffer further harm. Finally, Virginia reached the car. "Jim, go help her. She's hurt, and she won't be able to get in on her own." An elderly man, Jim Hamilton, turned to her voice. He glanced at Virginia, who was a mess—her hair disheveled, clothes dirty, her pants covered in blood. She looked pitiful. They didn't even know who this woman was, and there was no need to help her. From the way she looked, she must have made enemies. Getting involved in rescuing her might end up causing trouble with someone they couldn't afford to upset. He sighed, helpless. "Ms. Georgina, you're too kind," Jim said, his tone resigned. "Please hurry up, Jim! You're the best!" Georgina pleaded, grabbing his arm in a tone full of pity. "We've come this far; let's see it through. And look at her. That girl is about the same age as me, and she's been through this horrible treatment. It's heartbreaking." Heartbreaking? People who seem pitiful often have their own faults. Ms. Georgina is just too kind—she couldn't judge a person by their appearance alone. "If you don't go, Jim, I'll go myself!" Georgina said, pulling open the car door to step out. "Hey, wait!" Jim called after her, sighing again. "I'll go, Ms. Georgina. Please sit down." What else could he do? She was the heiress to the Hamilton fortune; he had no choice but to spoil her. Jim got out of the car and went to assist Virginia. When Virginia saw someone coming down to help her, she quickly thanked him. "Thank you." Jim noticed the muffled sounds of her gratitude. He turned and removed the cloth gag from her mouth. After being silenced for so long, having the gag removed almost dislocated her jaw. "Thank you!" Virginia exclaimed immediately, her voice filled with overwhelming gratitude.Jim helped her into the car. Once inside, Virginia looked at the face of the woman who had saved her. It was an extraordinarily beautiful face. She was a stunning beauty. Her beauty was different from Virginia's pure, innocent look—it was a stunning, almost seductive beauty. The woman had thick, silky hair and fair skin. Her mesmerizing peach eyes seemed to capture every onlooker's soul. Her crimson lips were utterly captivating. "Jim, hurry up and drive!" Georgina called urgently as Jim finally sat in the car. "Alright, I'm driving now," Jim responded. Though his voice was light, he kept a watchful eye on Virginia through the rearview mirror, signaling the bodyguard with a glance. The bodyguard understood. He moved closer to Georgina to be ready in case the wounded woman tried anything. Virginia pressed her lips together. She wasn't foolish—she could sense the bodyguard's hostility. Turning to Georgina, she suddenly felt a sense of wariness. She had never met this woman before. Why did she want to help me? Am I jumping from one dangerous situation into another? ... At the medical consultation. As Addison expected, she sat by a booth, watching the crowd of people coming and going. It wasn't until nightfall that the crowd finally thinned out. Meanwhile, Lance had been standing there all day, waiting in line without ever being able to make it to the front. She raised an eyebrow as she watched Lance endure the cold wind as he waited for his turn."Mr. Johnston, would you like some water?" Isaac had been standing with Lance all day, braving the strong wind. Even he was starting to feel the chill. "No, thank you," Lance waved him off. Isaac pulled his hand back, still holding the water. "Are you hungry? Should I get you something to eat?" Isaac offered again. "No," came the same reply. Isaac hesitated to speak his mind as he watched his boss stand so stiffly. There were so many doctors that worked with his family; why was he bothering to wait in line with all these people? It was already dark, and they still hadn't gotten through. Wasn't this just asking for trouble? As he was pondering this, Lance waved him over. Isaac's face brightened instantly, and he rushed over. "What is it, boss? Are you hungry? Should I get something for you?" "I'm not hungry," Lance replied, his face impassive. "Then what do you want?" Isaac asked, confused. "Go to Grimwell Restaurant and order the takeout for all the doctors at the medical consultation, one per person," Lance instructed. "Dr. Leon and Addison's orders need to be special; get them the best dishes from Grimwell." "Huh?" Isaac blinked in confusion, not understanding what his boss was trying to do. That was Grimwell Restaurant, known for its outrageous prices. He had never even eaten there himself. Yet, his boss was ordering meals for all the doctors? For a moment, he found himself wishing he could be one of those doctors. "Go," Lance's icy gaze swept over him, and with that single word, Isaac knew his boss had lost patience. "Right away, boss!"
