Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
After some small talk, Robin took me to see my room. The space he arranged for me was spacious and bright, exquisitely decorated, and fully furnished with everything I could possibly need. "Rae, do you like the room? If you don't, I'll have someone redo it." "I like it, thank you." As I looked at the Alpha of Eclipse Pack, a mix of emotions rose in my chest. I had met Robin many times when I was a child. He'd always treated me kindly. Back then, he and my father were as close as brothers, and the members of our two packs often went hunting together. The memories stirred something in me. I thought of my late father, and a shadow passed over my expression. "You must be tired from the trip. Get some rest for now. I'll call you when it's time for dinner." I nodded and obediently returned to my room to unpack my things. After dinner, Robin sat with me on the couch for a bit and handed me a bank card. "Rae, take this card. Tomorrow, I'll have the boys take you around Varken. Buy whatever you want." "Mr. Robin, thank you for your kindness, but there's no need." As soon as I finished speaking, I caught Regina's displeased expression from the corner of my eye. She immediately chimed in with a mocking tone. "Tsk tsk, pretending to be all high and mighty. Didn't you come to Eclipse Pack for the money?" "Regina!" Robin's voice rang out, clearly laced with anger. "Am I wrong? Why are you yelling at me?" she snapped back, though there was a flicker of fear in her eyes. Still, she didn't back down. I let out a small sigh. I didn't even know what I'd done to offend this Luna. She just seemed determined to make trouble for me. After repeatedly declining, I finally managed to refuse Robin's kind gesture. Just then, my phone rang. I picked it up, and Louis Grande, my Beta, came through the line. "Alpha, the Shadow Pack companies made a profit of 382 million this quarter. The money's been transferred to your account," Louis reported. "Got it." I curled my lips into a slight smile. Money? I really didn't lack that. … The day passed uneventfully. The next morning, when I woke up, the butler informed me that Robin had already gone to the office for work. When I came downstairs, the five Salvatore brothers from Eclipse Pack were eating breakfast. As soon as I sat down, Aiden, the eldest and heir, said in a low voice, "I've got a meeting at work today. The other four will take you out." Then he put down his utensils and walked off without another word. The remaining four exchanged glances, then followed up one by one. "Sorry, Raelyn. I've got a shoot today. Can't take you." "I have two surgeries scheduled at the hospital." "I'm out of town for a business trip." "I've got class." I was speechless. One by one, the five handsome men left the table. I rolled my eyes in disbelief. I casually finished my breakfast and then spent the rest of the day in my room. Around dusk, my phone on the table started ringing. An excited voice came through the speaker. "Raelyn! Are you in Kingsland?" "What do you want?" I answered coolly. "You came to Kingsland and didn't even tell me? That's cold! I don't care. You're coming out for dinner with me. Now." "Not going." "If you don't, I'll show up at Eclipse Pack and drag you out." I paused. The voice belonged to Jackson Gilbert, the heir of Storme Pack. Two years ago, when I was at the height of my success, Storme Pack had nearly collapsed due to business losses. Because I'd known Jackson since we were kids, I decided to lend a hand and invested in several of their companies, helping to revive their business. Since then, Jackson had practically worshipped me. He treated me like a sister and would do anything I said. Now, Storme Pack was a formidable force in both wealth and power, definitely not to be underestimated among the major werewolf packs. Of course, compared to my Shadow Pack, they still had a long way to go.That was why Jackson, the heir, had always dreamed of merging our two packs into one dominant force. I kept turning him down. In the end, to shut him up temporarily, I agreed to a joint venture between our packs. About thirty minutes later, after dressing up a little, I told the butler I was heading out and left the Eclipse Pack estate on my own. After Jackson treated me to a lavish dinner, he practically dragged me to an upscale bar in Varken. "Raelyn, nobody's bullying you at Eclipse Pack, right?" Jackson poured me a glass of red wine. "Who could bully me?" I let out a cold laugh, loosening my Alpha aura just a little. Jackson immediately flinched and gave me a sheepish smile. "Yeah… right. No one would dare mess with Raelyn. They'd have to be out of their minds." Once he recovered, he looked at me cautiously and asked, "So, are you really going through with the engagement to someone from Eclipse Pack?" "I don't know." I took a sip of wine and replied nonchalantly. If it weren't for my father… I wouldn't have come here at all. Now, I could only take it one step at a time. The wolves of Eclipse Pack didn't like me, and honestly, that was fine. Hopefully, that meant I could get out of here sooner.
