Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I froze. “What happened?” Tammy’s eyes turned sorrowful. “After they investigated the drugging incident, they found out the culprit was someone from 'The Wolf’s Call' crew. Simon went to confront them, but they beat him up and tossed him out. They even warned us, saying our CEO is hated by everyone now, and that we should keep our heads down, or next time they’d kill him…” The Wolf’s Call… Geraldine again. “And why,” I demanded, my tone sharp with reproach, “didn’t you tell me sooner?” Tammy hesitated before murmuring, “Because… you were having a rough time too. And Simon said he was fine. He told me not to bother you with it.” “Where is he now?” I asked. “At the hospital.” Aiden and I went straight there. By coincidence, it was the same hospital where I’d stayed during my Spriteleaf allergy; I’d been there for days and somehow never crossed paths with him. We found Simon’s room, where Adam was at his bedside, holding a cup and helping him drink water. When I walked in, both of them stiffened, exchanging guilty glances. “Well, well,” I said coolly. “Still sipping water, are we?” Simon swallowed, then flashed me a sheepish grin. “Ms. Beck, what brings you here?” “If I hadn’t come,” I said with a thin smile, “I’d never have known that our great Mr. Simon was holed up here with one leg in the air.” His leg was suspended above the bed, looking utterly ridiculous. “Broke my leg,” Simon admitted. “So I’m resting up, hoping to recover quickly and get back to work before too much time is wasted.” As he spoke, he shot Tammy a look sharp enough to cut, as if silently asking why she’d ratted him out. “Don’t glare at her,” I said, exasperated. “If she hadn’t told me and I’d found out on my own, I’d have chewed her out too. Honestly, you people—what were you thinking? The moment I’m not around, you run off to pick fights? Were you not afraid of getting yourselves killed?”Both Simon and Tammy lowered their heads, looking thoroughly chastised. “Care to explain,” I said, crossing my arms, “why you went charging over there in the first place?” “Raelyn,” Simon said, his voice defensive, “you don’t understand. Before the police took her away, that woman kept saying it wasn’t her idea—that someone from another crew put her up to it. She said she didn’t know it would blow up this badly, so…” I frowned. “So you went there?” Simon rubbed his nose and said, “I couldn’t stand the thought of Tammy being slandered. Adrian went with me, actually. And let me tell you, that kid… youth really is something. Didn’t get a single scratch and even knocked a few of them flat.” “And you, Mr. Simon,” I said with a sharp look, “why didn’t you knock anyone down?” Simon swallowed hard. “I’m… not much of a fighter. But we did have the upper hand for a bit—until their bodyguards showed up and threw us out…” His words made my blood boil. “You two grown men, adults, and you’re still acting like children. Especially you, Simon, you’re a seasoned manager. Even your son would laugh at this kind of stupidity.” Simon coughed awkwardly. “My son already visited. He said I’m his hero.” Aiden, standing beside me, slid an arm over my shoulder and said coolly, “Our son wouldn’t be that foolish.” I nodded in agreement. Simon blinked at us, utterly baffled, but I ignored him. My expression hardened as I looked at his injured leg. “Was it them? Did they do this to you?” His foot was swollen badly, far worse than a simple fracture. “This…” Tammy started, but Simon silenced her with a sharp glare. Then, forcing a smile, he said, “It’s nothing, really. No big deal…” I turned to Tammy. “You. Say it.” Tammy hesitated, then blurted out, “It’s just… Mr. Simon twisted his ankle himself… after he got back.” Simon’s face flushed crimson. “Alright, alright—no need to air my dirty laundry.”I couldn’t help it; laughter burst out of me. Got through a fight unscathed, only to twist his ankle on the way home—now that was hilarious. My laughter set off the rest of the room; even the tension lifted as everyone chuckled. With the mood lightening, I let it go and didn’t scold him further. After catching up with Simon, Aiden and I returned to the hotel, while Tammy went back to the set with Adam to continue filming. “This has Geraldine written all over it,” I muttered darkly. “I won’t let her get away with this.” Aiden arched a brow. “And what exactly do you plan to do?” I tapped my chin, eyes narrowing. “I think it’s time that the crew learned a lesson.” His brow rose higher. “What kind of lesson?” “You’ll see,” I said, a dangerous smile tugging at my lips.
