Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 261 Public Opinion Turns One-Sided

Aiden’s sharp gaze swept across the room. The director instantly hunched his shoulders. “No, I didn’t mean it like that. I just thought Raelyn’s acting is so good, it’s a pity if she doesn’t take the role, so I spoke without thinking…” “I put in 40 million to make sure Geraldine could film in peace; now you want Raelyn to take over? Are you saying you don’t want that 40 million anymore?” Aiden’s voice wasn’t loud, yet every word carried weight. Hearing him say that made my chest tighten with sadness. So in the end, Geraldine was still the one he cared about. “Aiden, what’s wrong with you? Helping your ex-girlfriend bully your current girlfriend, what kind of trashy man does that make you?” Tammy’s accusation didn’t so much as ripple across Aiden’s face. “Was anything I said wrong?” He looked straight at Tammy, his tone icy. She froze. Because he wasn’t wrong. He had invested the money for Geraldine. If she couldn’t get the role, then to him it was a financial loss. But to me, the more I thought about it, the less I understood why he had to treat Geraldine so well, so much so that he deliberately neglected me just to favor her. Was Geraldine right all along? That he had never gotten over her, and now that she was back, he wanted to push me away with cold indifference? I lifted my eyes to meet his. His gaze was still, as frigid and unyielding as stone. But for a fleeting instant, something unreadable flickered across his eyes—gone in a heartbeat—leaving me wondering if I had imagined it. Under the force of his presence, Tammy had begun to tremble. I let out a sigh and took her hand. “Tammy, let’s go.” As much as I didn’t want to believe it, staying here served no purpose. At least we had managed to curb Geraldine’s arrogance; that in itself wasn’t a loss.I pulled Tammy away and we returned to our own set. No sooner had we arrived than the director called Tammy over to film a scene opposite Adam, leaving me alone to sit and stare off in a daze. Simon, ever the watchful agent, had been hovering nearby. Seeing me lost in thought, he asked, “What’s wrong? You don’t look like you’re in a good mood.” I shook my head with a wry smile. “Nothing.” “Come on, don’t give me that, I can tell.” Simon gave me a knowing look. “I’ve been young too; is this about heartbreak?” I rolled my eyes. “It’s all over the news; anyone can see it, alright?” Now that Aiden and Geraldine were spending time together—and with her being a public figure—nothing could be kept under wraps. Simon gave an awkward chuckle. “I’m just trying to comfort you. Listen, the Moon Goddess never shortchanges any werewolf who believes in love. You’re amazing—finding someone better than Aiden won’t be a problem. Why waste your tears on a jerk?” I smiled faintly but stayed quiet. Of course, I understood that; but that knot in my chest refused to loosen. Even if we split, I still wanted Aiden to give me an explanation. “Alright, alright—read a novel, put on some music, take a walk, clear your head. It’ll all feel lighter soon enough,” Simon said, trying to reassure me. I nodded and let my gaze drift off into the distance. Simon sighed and shook his head, pulling out his phone. But the moment he glanced at it, his face hardened. “Raelyn, did you just go confront Geraldine?” His tone made me tense. I quickly unlocked my phone and opened the news. “Raelyn Boldly Provokes, Aiden Rises in Fury to Defend Geraldine.” The headline itself dripped with mockery. In the photo, I was standing alone, facing off against Aiden and Geraldine, looking furious and domineering. Meanwhile, Geraldine had been photographed to appear meek and aggrieved—like I had really bullied her.Tammy returned from filming and leaned over to check the news. “What happened?” The moment she saw the headline, she burst out swearing. “This has Geraldine written all over it. She set this up to crush you! What do you mean you provoked her? She was the one who came over to stir things up!” I patted her shoulder. “It’s fine. Let them say what they want—it isn’t the truth anyway.” “You’re way too easygoing. If it were me, I wouldn’t let it slide.” Tammy jabbed a finger at the photo of Aiden, her face full of disdain. “Look at him, publicly siding with Geraldine in front of everyone. Isn’t that just deliberately snubbing you? What on earth is Aiden playing at?”
