Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I was a professional at putting people in their place; I knew exactly what they cared about, and I always went straight for the weakest spot. The female werewolf shot to her feet the moment my words landed, voice sharp. “Who are you calling ugly?” But then her eyes fell on my face, and her bravado wilted; her voice shrank to a timid mutter. “As if you’re any better, you’ve had plenty of work done on that nose and face, haven’t you?” Tammy’s eyes blazed. “Do you even know who you’re talking to?” “Who could she be? She’s not one of the leads, just another supporting role like me…” the woman said carelessly. “She’s our investor; the president of Light Corp, Raelyn!” The color drained instantly from the woman’s face. She went pale, stammering, “Ms. Beck, I’m so sorry—I was too arrogant. Please don’t hold it against me; I’ll do whatever you ask, I swear.” I narrowed my eyes. “Anything?” “Yes, yes!” She nodded frantically. Flipping through the script, I found her character’s ending, the villainess overdosed on pills and died. “Swallowing pills is boring. Since she wants to make a show of herself, let her fall into the lake instead.” Her complexion turned ghostly white. “In this cold weather… falling into the lake would mean catching a terrible chill…” she stammered, her voice trembling. She trembled, fear written all over her face. I arched a brow. “What’s this? Didn’t you just say you’d do anything? And now you can’t even manage a little plunge into the water?” At that, the woman broke into tears. “I’m sorry, Ms. Beck, I’ll never step out of line again. Please, don’t make me do that!” Her crying grew so desperate she almost fell at my feet. But her gaze kept darting toward Mr. Idris' assistant.I followed her eyes and saw him signaling to her behind his back. Everything clicked; she must have had some kind of under-the-table arrangement with him to land this role in the first place. No wonder she’d been so brazen. I shifted my gaze to the assistant, smiling lightly. “Tell me, sir, do you happen to have anyone else who could take this role?” His eyes flickered; his mouth opened with a ready refusal. But I let a sliver of my aura spill out, fixing him with a hard stare. He flinched and quickly changed his tune. “Yes, yes, of course we do.” He went to the extras and pulled one forward. She was young, fresh-faced, with crimson lips and sharp, striking features; the perfect look for a wicked supporting role. “There we go, much better than this misshapen excuse of a face,” I said coolly. Casting a glance at the trembling woman standing nearby, I added, “Please escort her off the set.” And just like that, with a single sentence, I ended her future in the production. Her eyes burned with hatred as she shot me one last venomous look before storming off in a fury. From then on, filming went smoothly. After that, filming ran smoothly—no one dared test the investor’s patience again. By noon, Tammy was out of costume and tugging me away to play. She said the crew had given her a two-hour lunch break, and she wanted to show me around. “You’ve never been to a place like this; let me give you a tour. Honestly, if you ignore the filming, it’s actually really beautiful here.” The set had been purpose-built for shooting. I’d heard that before but never experienced it; stepping outside, I found myself facing grand buildings styled after ancient architecture. It was… surprisingly impressive. Seeing my interest, Tammy dragged me straight in. Inside, they were filming a drama. The leads were dressed with elegance grace. Tammy started off curious, wandering closer—but after just a few glances, her face darkened. She grabbed my hand. “Let’s go; I don’t want to watch this.”Her sudden change caught me off guard. I looked toward the set and understood immediately. Of course. Geraldine was there. “Why not? It’s not like she owns the place,” I said with a shrug. Tammy pouted. “It’s just… seeing her reminds me of the things she said last night. Acting all high and mighty—like she’s anything special. She’s not even the real girlfriend, so what’s she strutting for?” Tammy had always had a fiery temper, but since she rarely had reason to lash out, it didn’t show often. Now, all of that fire was aimed squarely at Geraldine; it made her come across downright fierce. “It’s fine. I’m curious about her acting anyway. Let’s stay and watch.” Reluctantly, Tammy agreed. We strolled inside casually, and of course, Geraldine spotted me right away. She was still mid-scene, so all she could do was glare daggers at me. I couldn’t help but laugh. “Tammy, what do you think of Geraldine’s acting?” Tammy tilted her head, thought for a moment, then said, “Not bad, I guess.” I shook my head. “I think she’s average at best. Honestly, it’s just that face of hers—it hides a lot of flaws in her performance.” I’d never acted a day in my life, but I had a good eye for people. Tammy blinked in surprise. “Really?” “Just watch her posture, it’s forced; too much effort, and the poise isn’t there.”
