Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
When we got home, Robin was sitting in the villa’s living room watching TV. The moment he saw me, he looked ready to get up and leave again. I stepped forward and blocked his way. “Mr. Robin, what’s going on with you?” Robin forced a thin smile. “Nothing’s wrong, Raelyn; don’t overthink it.” Raelyn. Even the way he addressed me had changed. I watched this Alpha retreat as if fleeing and, helpless, went back upstairs to my room. But Aiden was called into Robin’s study. The walls were thick and soundproof—I couldn’t hear a word. Yet the next morning, Aiden’s attitude toward me had shifted entirely. He barely spoke; his silence weighed heavier than words. Noticing the change in his expression, I asked, “What’s wrong with you?” Aiden shook his head. “I’m heading to the office. If you’re free, maybe you should spend more time at Bluewater Corporation.” “You mean, you want me to go back to my company?” I froze. How could he be so normal yesterday, and then this morning act like I was a stranger? Aiden pressed his lips together and said nothing. A faint ache welled up inside me. “Aiden, if something’s wrong, just tell me; don’t keep me in the dark.” “I’m fine. There’s work at the company—I have to go.” He tossed out the words and walked straight out the door. This wasn’t right; something must have happened. I followed him in secret, all the way to Eclipse Corporation. Once inside, I realized all my things had been cleared away. My old desk had already been given to the new design director. I stepped into his office, watching him work as though nothing were out of place, and the tightness in my chest grew sharper. “Aiden, can you please tell me what’s going on with you?” He lifted his head; his eyes carried emotions I couldn’t name. “I’m fine. It’s just… you shouldn’t stay at Eclipse Corporation anymore.” I gave a bitter laugh. “Then what about what you told me before? That as long as I was with you, Eclipse Corporation was mine too. Was that a lie?” He shook his head. “No.” “Then what does this mean?” Aiden let out a heavy sigh. “If you really want to keep working here, I’ll clear out another space for you.” I blinked, taken aback, then nodded faintly. Until I knew the truth, I had no intention of letting go. But I could also see it—Aiden had his reasons, things he couldn’t say. I wouldn’t press him too hard. He set up a new office for me, tucked away at the farthest end from his desk. The new office was bigger and prettier than my old one, but all I could feel was the distance. By noon, it was time to eat. Normally, Aiden and I would have lunch together. But when I glanced into his office, I saw Geraldine sitting on the sofa, waiting for him. The scene was too familiar, Aiden working at his desk, Geraldine sitting nearby like she belonged there. There were no overly intimate gestures this time, yet his silence—his quiet acceptance of her presence—stabbed straight through me. “Raelyn, what are you doing here?” Geraldine asked in surprise. “I came to see Aiden. Not that it has anything to do with you,” I replied flatly. Geraldine covered her mouth with a giggle. “Oh, if you came to invite him to lunch, you’re too late. Aiden already promised to eat with me.” I looked at him in disbelief, my voice low. “Aiden… is that true?” He didn’t answer; his silence was an admission. “See, Raelyn? Don’t humiliate yourself. You’re just making things harder for Aiden,” Geraldine said sweetly, with poison laced beneath. At last, Aiden spoke, voice faint. “This is Alpha’s decision.” “Aiden, am I still your girlfriend?” My throat burned; tears stung at the corners of my eyes, but I forced them back. “Raelyn, I—” He faltered, looking pained. Geraldine tilted her chin proudly. “Raelyn, I told you before—Mr. Robin has always liked me best. You’ll never measure up.” I turned my gaze back to Aiden, searching his eyes for something, anything—but he kept avoiding mine, refusing to look at me. So I shifted my attention to Geraldine and let out a cold laugh. “What’s next? You want to tell me to take the hint, to leave Aiden alone so the two of you can pick up where you left off?” Her face froze. “I never said that—” I laughed again, sharper this time. “Sorry, but I’m Aiden’s girlfriend. Until he breaks up with me, don’t even think about setting your sights on him.” As long as he hadn’t ended things, I wasn’t about to hand him over to this pretentious little viper. “Then I’ll just take Aiden to lunch. Raelyn, why don’t you come with us?” Geraldine asked with mock politeness. “Sure. Where are we eating?” I shot back instantly. “You…?” Geraldine stared at me, stunned. She hadn’t expected me to actually agree. For a moment, she stood frozen, caught off guard. “So, where’s lunch?” I asked again, tone cool. “Bluebell Restaurant…” Geraldine finally answered, her voice catching as reality sank in.
