Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
In the restaurant, Aiden and I sat across from each other. I took a sip of my drink and grinned. “Aiden, just now Geraldine mentioned that Andrix wanted to meet up with her. Since when has Andrix ever cared that much about a woman? Tell me, did Andrix, actually like Geraldine?” Aiden thought it over before answering. “Before I dated Geraldine, Andrix often found excuses to take her out. But then one time, he came back looking stormy, and after that, he never went out with her alone again.” He paused, frowning. “If I’m remembering right, Andrix probably did like Geraldine. He just never showed it clearly. I suppose all his resentment and defiance must’ve been building from that point on.” I nodded thoughtfully, about to press him further, when a familiar voice burst out behind me with a laugh. “Well, if it isn’t my dear brother and Raelyn.” We both turned to see Andrix swaggering toward us, Geraldine right at his side. Perfect timing, just as we’d been talking about him, he showed up. Watching them walk in shoulder to shoulder, I couldn’t help clicking my tongue. If I ignored Geraldine’s designs on Aiden, she and Andrix did make a rather fitting pair. “It’s been a while. Why don’t we sit together?” Andrix said smoothly, then slid into a chair without waiting for an answer. Geraldine was about to follow when I cut her off. “Did we say you could sit?” There was no way I believed Andrix was here just to make nice. I’d stolen his Spirit Fruit last time; chances were, he was still plotting payback. But Andrix ignored me completely, glancing past us with a smile. “You’re here, come join us!” I followed his gaze and nearly choked. Coming in behind him were the other three young masters of Eclipse Pack. What the heck? Why were they all here? Geraldine explained with a gentle smile, “Back when I was with Aiden, the other young masters of Eclipse Pack were always very kind to me. Since I’m back now, I thought it would be nice to invite everyone out, catch up over dinner…”Adrian, quick-tempered as always, sneered the moment he saw Andrix. “And why is this traitor here?” Alex smiled thinly, but his words were sharp. “And it’s not like everyone at this table belongs to Eclipse Pack.” Geraldine looked perfectly prepared for their hostility, still smiling sweetly. “Andrix isn’t exactly how you think he is. I asked you all here partly for a reunion, but also to ease the strain between brothers…” Her sanctimonious, peacemaking act was too much. I snapped, “Eclipse Pack business is family business. How would an outsider like you know anything about it?” Geraldine ducked her head in wounded silence. “I only meant well. Besides, Raelyn—you’re an outsider too, aren’t you?” At that, Aiden’s expression darkened instantly. “She’s my fiancée. Do you really think you can compare yourself to her?” The words dropped like a stone; the whole table fell silent. Geraldine was the only one who reacted—she blinked in shock, then her face crumpled and tears began to spill. “Aiden, even if you don’t love me anymore, what we had was real. Why do you have to be so cruel?” Watching her pitiful act, I couldn’t resist. “Ms. Geraldine, you’re crying over old flames in front of his girlfriend. What do you think makes him so heartless?” “I…” Geraldine lowered her head, but hatred burned in her eyes. Andrix stepped in as the peacemaker, smiling mildly. “The past should stay in the past. Aiden’s with Raelyn now, and Geraldine only wishes them well.” Geraldine nodded quickly, wearing a look of gratitude. Andrix went on, “Father’s birthday banquet is coming up. I plan to return home and pay my respects.” Adrian’s fists clenched tight; he barked, “Go back? Andrix, how dare you show your face after what you did last time? I haven’t even settled that score, and now you want to walk right in?” Alex shot him a cold glance. “Why waste your breath? With a face thicker than city walls, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks.” It was clear—the son of Eclipse Pack had no respect left for Andrix.Andrix, however, acted as if he hadn’t heard a word. He smiled with calm composure. “Then it’s settled. If that’s all, I’ll be going. See you in two days.” With that, he rose and left. Only after Andrix walked out did the other young masters relax. Geraldine, desperate to salvage her standing, quickly speared a piece of steak with her fork and placed it on Adrian’s plate. “Come on, don’t just sit there. Adrian, I remember steak was always your favorite…” Adrian, caught off guard, opened his mouth and blurted without thinking, “Thanks, sister-in-law.”
