Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 24 Aiden Actually Blushed

I glanced at him, my expression calm. "Mr. Alex, what do I owe the pleasure?" "Just checking in on you, Raelyn," Alex replied with a smile; half sincere, half unreadable. I thought to myself, I've barely interacted with you, Alex. A weasel wishing a chicken Happy New Year? Probably up to no good. "If you've got something to say, just spit it out. No need to dance around it," I said. Alex curved his lips. "Well, what if I said I'm a little interested in you?" I couldn't help twitching the corner of my mouth. "Do you even believe what you're saying?" He leaned in slightly, his grin growing wider. "You don't believe me? That really hurts, you know." I leaned back a little and said coldly, "Keep your hands to yourself." Alex acted like he didn't hear it. "What are you so afraid of?" Just then, Aiden walked through the door and immediately spotted the supposedly "intimate" moment between me and Alex. His gaze darkened. "Am I interrupting something?" Alex glanced at me, lips curling into a smirk. "Not at all. Just here to visit Rae." I shoved him off to the side right away. Rae? Who gave you the right to call me that? The way it sounded made my skin crawl. Aiden turned his face away, gave a faint grunt, and walked out. After that, Robin ordered me to be admitted to Andrix's hospital. It really wasn't necessary to make such a big deal out of it, but since the Alpha of Eclipse Pack gave the command, I couldn't exactly refuse. So I reluctantly agreed to stay for a bit. Honestly, I didn't mind the rest. Before long, Robin knocked on my hospital room door and walked in. "Rae, how are you feeling now? It's all those useless kids' fault for not taking better care of you. Got you hurt like this!" Robin looked at me with soft, fatherly concern. I felt a wave of warmth in my chest. "Alpha, this was my own fault. I wasn't careful—it had nothing to do with them." "Don't worry, Rae. Whoever marries you, I'll give him twenty percent of Eclipse Pack's shares and twenty villas in Capitol. No one will ever dare mistreat you."That was a solid promise from the Alpha of Eclipse Pack–and it genuinely moved me. Robin had always been good to me. Dad, you can rest easy now. From what I knew, Robin had only given each of his five sons five percent of Eclipse Pack's shares. Yet marrying me would grant someone twenty percent and twenty villas? That was pretty generous. Robin gave a few more reminders, then rushed out after taking a call. Andrix came in right after. The moment he saw me, his gaze softened. He walked over and gently pressed on my ankle. "Does it still hurt?" he asked softly. I felt oddly uneasy for some reason and instinctively pulled back a little, forcing a smile. "It feels much better now, not as painful." Andrix smiled warmly. "Good. If anything comes up, don't hesitate to call me, alright?" His thoughtful care caught me off guard. This was the same Andrix who used to keep his distance. Why the sudden concern? I shook my head. "It's fine, I can handle it myself." He chuckled indulgently and ruffled my hair. "I've told you, don't shoulder everything on your own. You're just a girl—you should learn to rely on others." His syrupy tone made my skin crawl. I quickly pushed him away. Just a few days ago, Andrix told me he wasn't interested in me. Now, all of a sudden, he's being all attentive? After Andrix left, I sat there in thought. He probably overheard Robin's offer earlier. This was starting to get interesting. While I was in the hospital for those few days, Aiden never once came to visit. Things at Eclipse Corporation had stabilized, so he likely wasn't swamped with work. After thinking it over, I figured he was just avoiding me because of what happened last time. His brothers were fawning over me while he stayed away. That wasn't the dynamic I wanted. So, on the day I was cleared to return to work, I made sure to ask specifically to ride in Aiden's car. "You're such a nice guy. You don't mind giving me a ride, do you?" I said as I hopped into the passenger seat and buckled up without waiting for permission. Aiden's gaze flickered and his voice turned cold. "Why not take Alex's car?" I laughed lightly. "I just like yours. Come on, we'll be late." Aiden had no choice but to drive me to work. I didn't talk to him on the way; just looked out the window. The breeze felt perfect on my face, cool and relaxing. Then Aiden spoke in his usual even tone. "What's going on between you and Alex?" I turned to look at him and blinked playfully. "Nothing." "Then how come you two seemed so… close that day?" "Relying on secondhand gossip? That doesn't sound like something the intelligent Aiden would do." I was already laughing inside. Looks like he is jealous of his own brother. Aiden froze for a moment, then his expression relaxed. I held back a chuckle and teased him with interest. "You seem awfully happy… Aiden, if you care so much about who I hang out with, could it be that you like me?" His face went stiff immediately. "You talk too much." I burst into laughter. "Aiden actually blushed."
