Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
Gilbert shot them a cold look. “A couple of days ago, I went one-on-one with her. I lost.” Wingstorm frowned. “One match doesn’t mean much; no one can guarantee they’ll never lose…” “Two matches,” Gilbert cut him off. “Damn, that’s impressive. Beating Gilbert twice in a row? Other than Gilbert in his prime, no one else could’ve managed it.” “But still, I want to see Raelyn’s real skills for myself.” Wingstorm’s eyes locked on me, scrutinizing. “Can I duel you? I’m the second-strongest in the club. If you beat me, I’ll acknowledge your strength.” I didn’t mind. I nodded. “Sure. Where do we play?” Wingstorm pointed with his right hand. “Right here.” “Okay.” I casually pulled out my phone. We both queued up for a one-on-one match. I knew exactly what Wingstorm was aiming for, he wanted to crush me. Beating me would mean he’d beaten Gilbert by proxy; who wouldn’t want that kind of bragging rights? Since I was supposed to fill the mage role, I chose a mage. I picked out a flamboyant outfit for her too, just to rub it in. A few rounds later, my mage’s spells were flying like fireworks, while Wingstorm’s character kept dropping dead on the ground over and over. When the word “Victory” flashed across the screen, his face went pale. We played five rounds. He didn’t gain an inch. For a pro player, that was unthinkable. “Want to keep going?” I asked. Wingstorm waved it off, completely convinced. “No. I give up. You’re the real deal.” “Beauty and skill all in one, why not start a livestream account? With your looks, voice, and gaming ability, you’d blow up as a top streamer in no time!” Radix chimed in, clutching his cheeks with sparkling eyes like some love-struck fanboy. I laughed outright. “You really do have an imagination.” “Of course! I’ve got a channel myself, plenty of followers, too.” He proudly whipped out his account. It showed five million followers. I smiled. “Impressive. You’ll hit ten million soon enough.” Aiden said flatly, “Don’t you feel embarrassed saying that to someone with thirty million followers?” It was true, under my online persona, Jennifer, I had plenty of fans. But I’d been fading out of the entertainment scene the last couple years; I hadn’t released any new songs. No way a bunch of game-obsessed boys in this club would recognize me. “Thirty million? Who are you?” Radix gaped at me, stunned. I saw I couldn’t dodge it anymore, so I answered honestly. “Jennifer. That’s my other identity.” Radix’s eyes went wide. “Jennifer? I love your songs. I listen to your track ‘Goodnight’ every night before bed—it’s amazing!” I twitched my lips. “Ever consider the possibility that my song is called Goodnight, Goodnight?” Wingstorm burst out laughing, clutching his stomach. “You fake fan!” Radix scratched his head sheepishly. “I just forgot. Bad memory, that’s all.” “A guy who remembers every single skill description in a game but forgets the name of his favorite singer’s song? Radix, with stanning skills like that, aren’t you embarrassed?” Suzie teased with a grin. Gilbert cut them off at the right time. “All right, enough. Let’s head into the training room and start syncing up.” The three immediately straightened. “Got it.” I glanced back at Aiden. “Are you coming in with us?” He shook his head. “I’ll wait here. You need a quiet environment to practice; if I’m around, I might be a distraction.” I couldn’t help but be touched. Aiden was unusually considerate and gracious today… “Kiss me before you go.” Right. I knew there had to be a catch. Everyone around us covered their eyes. “Go ahead—we’re not watching.” I shouted, “Radix, you’ve got your fingers spread so wide I can see half your face.”Radix chuckled, squeezing his eyes shut. Aiden tilted his chin. “See? Hurry up and kiss me.” My ears burned hot; still, I leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. “Sweetheart… that was too sweet. I’m a goner,” Radix’s voice rang out loud and clear in the quiet room. “Let’s go inside already,” I snapped, glaring at him. Radix shrank his neck back in fear. “Oh my, she is so scary when she’s mad.”
