Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 201 Head to Head

Last time I met Max, I thoroughly investigated the entire Imperial Pack. The man in front of me was Wesley, known as a noble playboy in the Capital City elite circle—Mr. Greg’s second grandson. Mr. Greg had two grandsons. The older one, Gilbert, was a legendary gaming genius who'd held the number one spot in the werewolf gaming scene for years, but since he spent most of his time at the club, he wasn't widely known. Wesley, on the other hand, was the real deal when it came to the spoiled rich kid image. Any werewolf in Capital City had at least heard of his name. Unfortunately, he had a cold, distant personality that made most people unwilling to approach him. But that didn’t stop plenty of girls from throwing themselves at him, racking their brains to marry him. That wickedly good-looking face—other than Aiden, no one could really compare. As if sensing someone had entered the car, Wesley slowly opened his eyes and gave me a faint, mocking smile. “So you’re the long-lost granddaughter my grandfather’s been talking about? Hope you’re not some fraud.” That first sentence lit a fire in me. “How many damn dogs has the Goldberg family raised? I swear I heard barking all the way back in Kingsland.” In the werewolf world, being called a dog was a major insult. But Wesley didn’t even get angry. The disgust in his eyes just deepened. “You really don’t know how to behave, do you? With an attitude like that, even if you returned to the Imperial Pack, you’d be useless. I have no idea why Grandpa even sent me to get you.” I scoffed, smirking. “Save it. I’m already accomplished enough. If you didn’t want me to come back, why’d you bother showing up?” “Accomplished… What, because you can sing, draw design sketches, and run a company? Bluewater Corporation is just ranked top three. Do you have any idea how many times bigger our Jiang Group is in market value?” His barrage of questions almost made me laugh. “So what? What does any of that have to do with you, Second Young Master of the Goldberg family?”Wesley’s face turned green. We finally arrived at the café. I sat down and kept my tone calm. “I really don’t have the time right now.” The steward, seeing how completely unmoved I was, couldn’t exactly force things in public. He gave a helpless smile. “Sir, please, could you talk to Ms. Beck?” Wesley didn’t want anything to do with me. “You talk to her. I don’t care.” “See that? The Goldberg family clearly doesn’t want me. Just go back and tell Mr. Greg I won’t be returning.” I said that while throwing a smug look at Wesley’s sour face. The steward quickly bowed and pleaded, “Sir, please don’t make this harder than it already is. Help us convince Ms. Beck. This is the Alpha’s order. If we fail, we won’t be able to explain ourselves.” Wesley sighed in irritation but finally gave a nod. “Fine.” I looked at him, amused. “Well? What grand speech is Mr. Wesley about to give me?” “Not gonna talk you into anything. Just come with me.” I shot back, “Is that how you ask for a favor?” “Raelynn, I’m not asking you.” He looked like he was on the verge of snapping. “Alright, fine, I’ll stop teasing. Why are you guys so desperate to bring me back?” I wiped the smile off my face. Wesley rubbed his forehead. “Grandpa wants to see you.” “That’s it?” I asked, arching an eyebrow. Wesley waved his hand. “Actually, he wants you to change your last name to Jiang, return to the Imperial Pack, and be part of the family.” Then he looked at me like I was a walking disease. “I seriously don’t get what he sees in you. Keeps going on about how accomplished you are, saying you’re a true member of the Imperial Pack.” I smiled faintly. “High praise. Mr. Greg clearly has a good eye, unlike someone who judges people with his nose.” Wesley hated that comparison. He shot me a glare. “So? What’s your answer?” “I’m never going back to the Imperial Pack. My last name is Li.” My father worked so hard to raise me—how could I ever turn my back on the Shadow Pack? Even if the Imperial Pack was more powerful or wealthy, it didn’t matter. Wesley looked at me, slightly confused, though the icy edge in his expression had softened. He sighed. “Then you should tell Grandpa yourself.” Seeing that we weren’t reaching an agreement, the steward stepped in. “Ms. Beck, please don’t make things harder for us. We’re just following orders. If you still refuse to come with us, I’ll have to take other measures.” I didn’t flinch. “What, are you planning to kidnap me?” The steward smiled gently. “Of course not. You’re far too important for that. But Eclipse Pack… might have to suffer a little instead.”
