Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
Raelyn's POV Because I'd done a good job, Aiden handed the entire project over to me. After being punished, Kendall started keeping her head down around me. But judging from the dark look in her eyes, I had a feeling she was plotting something. Not that I cared. Afraid of her? That's not who I am. I'm Raelyn. During a break, I unexpectedly ran into Alex by the coffee machine. He gave me a wink and raised an eyebrow. "Word is Aiden gave Kendall a slap on the wrist just for you. Must mean you're pretty important to him." Why did that sound so off? I kept my tone calm. "Jealous? Upset that I stole your big brother's affection?" Alex's smile stiffened. "Ms. Beck sure likes to joke." "You were the one joking first. I'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine." I calmly grabbed a cup of coffee. If he wanted to get snarky, he'd picked the wrong opponent; I never lose at this game. "Ms. Beck really is something else. No wonder Aiden the workaholic treats you differently." He kept that smile on his face, but every word he said dripped with barbs. "Thanks. But I think you're talking a little too much." I shot back without missing a beat. His expression faltered slightly, though he forced a smile. "Fine. I'll let you enjoy your coffee then, Ms. Beck." He turned and walked away with his cup. I watched his back, thoughtful. The two top executives of Eclipse Pack definitely had some deep-seated issues with each other. My project was well received by our partners, and the quarterly profits looked great. Eclipse Corporation decided to throw a celebration party to honor the company's growth. And to uphold the Eclipse Pack's reputation, Aiden decided to take me to pick out a dress. Having learned from last time, I went straight for the dress I liked and tossed it to Aiden to pay. "Aiden, I love this green one. I'll leave it to you." He looked at the emerald-green gown, detailed with turquoise and a breezy, bright vibe, then shook his head. "This one suits you better." He reached into the rack and pulled out a burgundy gown with a rose-inspired hem and glittering diamond accents trailing down one side."If you hate me, just say it. Why bother making me wear something that screams streetwalker?" I'd never worn anything that red. My style was always clean and minimalist. Aiden didn't appreciate my sarcasm. His eyes darkened. "If I hated you, would I be here picking out dresses with you?" I looked at his serious expression and grinned with interest. "So you're really taking this dress picking seriously? Aiden, don't tell me you're actually falling for me. That would explain why you care so much." "You're overthinking it." He tossed the dress into my arms. "You're no fun." I shrugged and headed to the fitting room with the dress. A few minutes later, I stepped out in the burgundy gown, the skirt flowing around me like a rose in full bloom. I'd pinned up my hair to make it easier to wear, exposing my slender neck, something that clearly left Aiden stunned. "Lost your mind?" I waved a hand in front of his face, amused. Aiden quickly looked away, pretending to be unfazed. "I just find it hard to believe a project designer with such sharp ideas has no taste in clothes." That jab was clearly aimed at my fashion sense. "Why are both you brothers so damn snarky?" I rolled my eyes. Aiden's gaze flicked back to me, his voice a little curious. "What, did Alex talk to you?" "Nothing major. We just ran into each other and chatted a bit. But your brother's words are like needles; he knows how to stab where it hurts." Aiden looked helpless. "Alex's always been that way. You'll get used to it. Just don't take it personally." His eyes fell on my dress again and he nodded. "This one's it then. The party starts in half an hour. We can't be late." "Alright." I shrugged, not fussed either way. We returned to the company, only to find the entrance swarmed with reporters. Seeing me and the Eclipse Pack's heir arriving together, the press surged forward. "Are the rumors true? Are you two secretly dating?" "Is the RaeDen ship real?""Can we get a direct comment from the both of you?" … Aiden's cold gaze swept over the crowd, instantly silencing everyone. Taking advantage of the moment, he led me inside the building. The party turned out to be a small business gathering. Aiden, as always, was the center of attention. People gathered around him nonstop, trying to pick his brain. Meanwhile, I snuck off to a quieter lounge area and started sampling the desserts. Not long after I sat down, Kendall sashayed over. "Well, if it isn't our leading lady, Raelyn. Why aren't you sticking to the CEO's side?"
