Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
Adam looked at me quietly, the tenderness in his eyes slowly fading. “Have you figured it out?” Bathed in moonlight, I tilted my head and asked softly, “Have you made up your mind?” “I have.” Adam stood up, one hand in his pocket. “I think it’s time I focus on my own career.” That made me genuinely happy; this big kid was finally starting to act like a man. “If you sign with Light Corp, then the agent we previously assigned to you obviously won’t be an option anymore,” I said seriously. Adam realized the same thing and turned the question on me. “Then, would you still be willing to be my agent?” As soon as the words left his mouth, he nodded and gave himself a pat on the head. “I almost forgot, my brother said he wanted you to be the vice president of Eclipse Corporation. You probably won’t have time to be my agent anymore.” He chuckled self-deprecatingly and sighed. “It’s fine. I’m sure the president of Light Corp will assign me a new agent when the time comes.” The whole thing was kind of painful to watch. He wasn’t wrong; as president, I was going to assign him a new agent. “Adam, do you know Simon?” Suddenly, it hit me—just a few days ago, Simon had asked me to introduce him to an artist. He’d been at Light Corp for days with no one to manage; he’d basically been sidelined in a supervisory role, which must’ve been stifling for someone as ambitious as him. Adam paused, then thought for a moment before replying. “Yeah, I’ve heard of him. Supposedly he’s really talented, but he’s never had much luck. Not a big name. He used to manage a female celebrity, but then he quit for some reason. Wait… did he join Light Corp?” The realization dawned on him, and his eyes widened. “Wait a minute—are you thinking of making him my agent?” I grinned and snapped my fingers. “Bingo. That’s exactly what I’m thinking.” Adam frowned, deep in thought. “But I heard Simon has pretty high standards. He only works with naturally gifted artists—he doesn’t waste his time on just anyone.” “Just anyone?” I shot him a helpless glance. “Adam, do you even know where you stand right now? Don’t forget, you were nominated for Best Actor. Your fan base is growing like crazy. Sure, your status isn’t quite A-list yet, but you’re solidly second-tier for now. If Simon takes you on, you’ll be a top-tier celebrity in no time.” “Well, alright then. Thank you.” I let out a soft laugh. “What’s with the thanks? It’s not that big of a deal.” If Simon found out that his first artist after taking the role was Adam, he’d probably be thrilled too. “Not that big of a deal? You got me into Light Corp, and now you’re helping me find a great agent. I should be thanking you properly,” Adam said, his face full of gratitude. Then, as if something just clicked in his mind, he turned to me with a puzzled look. “Raelyn, who are you exactly? Why was I able to get into Light Corp? Don’t tell me, you’re the president of Light Corp?” I nearly choked on my own spit. “What are you talking about? How could I possibly be the president of Light Corp? Have you ever seen a president running around outside every day?” The moment I said it, I felt a little embarrassed myself. When I thought about it that way, I really wasn’t a very responsible president. Pretty much everything had fallen on Jackson’s shoulders. I should be nicer to Jackson from now on. Stop snapping at him all the time. “Alright then,” Adam nodded, seemingly satisfied with that explanation. As the night deepened, sleepiness finally overtook Adam, and he bid me goodnight. I, on the other hand, felt more awake than ever. The things we talked about tonight stirred up waves in my heart. Aiden, oh Aiden… I really don’t get what’s going on in that head of yours. I looked up at the moon, murmuring to myself. “If you’re confused about something, you could just ask me—why are you avoiding me?” Aiden’s voice suddenly came from behind. “I’m not avoiding you.” I turned to look at him, forcing an awkward smile. “Then why didn’t you want to get engaged to me just now?” He stared at me, expression calm. I opened my mouth to explain, but the moment I met his serious gaze, everything I had said to Adam earlier vanished from my mind as if someone had wiped it clean. I couldn’t get a single word out. “Is it that you don’t really like me yet? Or maybe… you just realized you never actually liked me at all?” When I didn’t answer, Aiden’s tone turned a little anxious. “No, it’s not that. I just… it feels a bit fast, that’s all. I’ve never even been in a relationship before…” My explanation came out clumsy and awkward. “You’ve never been in a relationship?” Aiden froze, looking at me like he didn’t believe it. His stare made my face burn. “So what if I haven’t? You think less of me because of that?”
