Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 148 Adam's Confession

Raelyn's POV I really had no energy to deal with that moody, jealous iceberg right now. When I got to the hospital room and saw Adam lying there with his eyes shut and lips pale, a wave of guilt rose in my chest. If I hadn’t sent him that message, Adam would probably still be bouncing around a film set right now, not lying here motionless on a hospital bed. Thankfully, I used the latest witch stone Tempest gave me. Adam should wake up soon. Just as I was thinking that, Adam’s fingers twitched slightly, and a moment later, his eyes opened. “Raelyn…” I leaned in quickly. “What is it?” Adam stared at me for a while, then gave a small smile. “Nothing. Seeing that you’re okay is enough for me.” I rolled my eyes at him. “That’s still no reason for you to nearly get yourself killed saving me. You’re a grown man, can’t you take better care of your body? Why would you risk your life for someone who doesn’t have anything to do with you?” Adam suddenly grew serious. He grabbed my hand. “What do you mean we have nothing to do with each other? Raelyn, you’re just as important to me as my parents. I may seem careless on the outside, but I’ve always been serious about you. I really like you.” His sudden confession caught me completely off guard. I forgot to even pull my hand away. “Alright, you clearly haven’t fully recovered yet, so your brain’s still a little scrambled. We’ll talk about this later once you’ve rested. Are you thirsty? I’ll go get you some water.” I had to dodge the subject for now. I pulled my hand away and got up to leave, only to see Aiden standing outside the door the moment I opened it. He looked pissed, face dark as a thundercloud. “Keep an eye on Adam for me. I’ll be back in a bit.” Feeling a little awkward, I held up the cup in my hand and slipped past him out the door. Aiden's POV Now it was just me and Adam left in the room.I looked at him and blurted, “I heard everything you just said.” Adam looked at me with a lazy grin. “So what? I just confessed to the girl I like. It’s not like I forced her to be with me. Why are you so upset?” “You know damn well she’s your future sister-in-law. Midnight Pack’s future luna.” Adam smirked, a bit of sarcasm tugging at his lips. “Maybe I would’ve believed that before. But after seeing how down she’s been the last few days because of you, I realized backing off back then was a mistake. Raelyn will never be happy with you.” “How do you know that?” “I watched you hugging another girl with my own two eyes. Raelyn saw it too. And while she was in the hospital, how many times did you visit? Adrian told me your new design director even used Raelyn’s hospitalization as an excuse to come provoke her. What, are things already heating up between you two?” My face darkened immediately. “That’s not what happened.” “Maybe not, but what I do know is Raelyn needs me now. And you? All you do is make her miserable.” Adam snorted. “She sent her SOS to me first. One day, I’m going to matter to her more than you do.” I let out a breath. His words sounded childish, but he was dead serious. There was no point arguing. I didn’t feel like fighting him anymore, so I got up and left the room. Raelyn's POV I came back with the water and saw that Aiden was gone. “He left?” I asked. Adam looked smug. “Yep. I gave him a piece of my mind, and he left feeling all embarrassed.” “Alright then. Just don’t get out of bed these next few days. Get some rest. I’ll be taking care of you until you’ve fully recovered.” Adam looked at me like he’d won the lottery. “You’ll be taking care of me? But don’t you have work?” The word “work” brought a wave of annoyance. That whole messed up company? No thanks. Still, I didn’t want to complain in front of Adam, so I said casually, “Nah, I don’t have a job right now. They already replaced the design director, so I’ve got time and energy to take care of you.”“I knew it. Aiden’s useless.” Adam was clearly on my side. “You can just relax and stay here for now. Actually, since you’re not working right now, I’ve got an idea. Want to hear it?” I raised an eyebrow. “What kind of idea?” Adam grinned. “My agent’s dealing with a family emergency and just took a month off. So… how about you step in as my temporary agent?”
