From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever
Maya had no idea she'd already fallen right into Jaylee's trap. Jaylee never imagined that the person secretly taking photos of Athena was Maya! Even though she was surprised, she didn't forget to snap a few shots and a video of Maya sneaking around outside the office. Maya, meanwhile, was completely absorbed in her plan against Athena and Elijah, not noticing that she was being watched. After Maya finished taking her photos, she slipped away from the scene. Jaylee quickly sent the video and photos she'd just captured to Athena. She said excitedly, "Dr. Hall, the one spying on you this whole time was Maya!" Athena pretended to stay focused on her conversation with Elijah, but her eyes flicked to her phone. As soon as she saw Jaylee's message, even she couldn't hide her surprise. It was Maya! I never would've guessed ... Athena had never suspected her. She'd thought the culprit was either Elijah or someone he'd hired, so this completely caught her off guard. Elijah caught her surprised expression and asked, "What's wrong? Did something happen?" Athena locked her phone and replied, "Nothing." She smiled at Elijah and said, "If Mr. Elijah doesn't want to clear things up, I'll do it myself. And ... thanks for your cooperation." With that, Athena turned and left the office. Elijah stood frozen for a moment, only then realizing what had just happened. Did she just use me as a pawn? But instead of getting angry, a faint smile crept onto his lips. He was actually interested to see how Athena would handle things. Athena didn't rush to release the evidence after getting Jaylee's video and photos. If she did, who would really believe Maya was the one spying on her? If Maya denied it, Athena wouldn't have any solid proof. So she waited for Maya to make her move first—then she could use the evidence against her. Athena had expected to wait a few days, but Maya just couldn't help herself. Right before the end of the workday, Maya's burner account quietly slipped into the hospital group chat. There were so many people chatting in the group that nobody noticed Maya at first. But Athena was watching her closely. She didn't miss a single move. Maya's alt account joined the group, planning to smear Athena just like before. Once inside, Maya posted the photos she'd just taken and typed, "Athena's sneaking around with a man again—this time during work hours. She clearly had no respect for the rules. I really feel bad for Zaden." The photos caused an instant uproar in the group. People stopped talking about work, turning all their attention to Athena. The insults and speculation started flying. "Athena's way out of line, isn't she?" "Right? Even if she doesn't care about her fiancé, she shouldn't do this at work." "She's already been exposed once. You'd think she'd learn, but now she's even worse." Even though Elijah was technically in charge now, the hospital was full of different cliques, and no one felt any need to defend him. With Elijah absent from the chat, people said whatever they wanted about him.Everyone had an opinion when they saw the photos. Inside the office, Athena and Jaylee watched as the chat exploded. Jaylee knew Athena had evidence, but seeing her wait to use it made her anxious. "Dr. Hall, look at how they're tearing into you. They don't even know what's going on. "If they knew the truth, it'd shut them up." Athena's lips curled into a cold smile. "No rush. I'm just taking notes on who's the loudest. That'll make it easier to deal with them later." Most people played it safe, but there were always a few who took things too far. Their words stuck with everyone, even swaying the opinions of others who didn't join in directly. Athena knew those who were the most vocal were Maya's people. She wanted to see how much support Maya really had at the hospital. Once things quieted down, Athena finally started to type. She calmly wrote, "You're all making accusations with zero proof. Isn't that a bit reckless?" As soon as she spoke up, the people who'd been most active immediately went on the attack, mocking her. "Athena, you must be guilty if you're getting so defensive. If you can do things like this, you should expect people to talk. You think you can cheat on your fiancé and get away with it, just because Mr. Elijah's in charge now? Shameless!"
