From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever
Otherwise, if she remained unaware of this and went to work at the hospital, she would have to face countless curious and judgmental eyes. She might even naively think that everyone believed she had performed well in surgery. The messages in the group chat had already been lost. If Zaden hadn't told her, and if she hadn't checked, she would probably still be unaware of everything happening around her. Before long, Zaden's phone buzzed with a message from Tommy. Athena hurried over, asking, "How's it going? Have you found anything yet?" Zaden opened the message and looked at it with Athena. "Mr. Storm, all the surveillance footage has been deleted." Athena felt her stomach drop at that. The more she thought about it, the more it actually added up. Whoever pulled this off would've cleaned up everything—no way they'd leave any clues lying around. Zaden frowned, replying to Tommy, "What about the fake account in the group?" "It has already left the group and deleted the account." So, everything was a dead end. If Athena couldn't clear her name, that ugly rumor would stick to her for good. Noticing her downcast expression, Zaden tried to reassure her. "Hey, don't stress. I'll find another way to figure this out." He kept quiet about what his grandpa had said. Athena already looked crushed—she didn't need more on her shoulders. He needed to handle this properly. A determined look appeared in Athena's eyes as she said to Zaden, "I think we should be careful. This person will likely continue to take sneaky photos of me. We should set a trap and wait for them to fall into it."When she thought about it more, Athena started to feel a little better. Instead of freaking out and running around for nothing, it made more sense to just wait for the culprit to slip up and come to them. Zaden glanced at her, impressed. She wasn't someone who broke down over one problem. Maybe that was why he liked her. Zaden nodded. "Okay, I'll handle it." Athena looked up at him and said quietly, "Thanks for trusting me." Zaden let out a small laugh. "Obviously, I trust you. You're my wife, remember?" ... After dropping a big bombshell, Maya was in high spirits. She even went to bed smiling and stayed that way all night. In her dream, Zaden totally turned against Athena, got a divorce, and ended up back with Maya. But when she woke up, she realized none of it actually happened. She wasn't disappointed, though; she felt everything would come true soon. Maya headed downstairs and spotted her mother eating in the dining room. Since it was the weekend, her father usually didn't have work, but he was nowhere to be seen. She asked, "Mom, where's Dad?" Patricia answered, "Your grandma's in the hospital, remember? He's been super busy and hasn't had a chance to visit. Since he has the day off, he went to see her." She remembered Athena worked at that same hospital and started wondering if Fabio might run into her there. Patricia really didn't want Fabio and Athena having any contact at all. Unfortunately, Fabio was so stubborn that he would rather divorce than compromise. There was nothing she could do about that. Their relationship was already strained, so she tried to avoid provoking him. Even so, she was sure Fabio wouldn't pretend he was visiting Ariana just to sneak off and see Athena. Patricia looked at Maya and said, "Maya, I heard Peyton came back with a kid, and on his first day back he already took over the hospital the Storm Group owns. Honestly, you don't need to be so focused on Zaden. Our family's doing just fine, too. How about I get in touch with the Storms and see if you can meet him?" Maya looked at her mother in disbelief, almost thinking she had misheard. Mom actually wants me to go on a date with Elijah? Is she out of her mind? Maya immediately rejected the idea, saying coldly, "No, Mom! Do you even know what you're saying? I'm not going out with Elijah. I want Zaden!" She'd put in so much effort already, even messed up Athena's reputation at the hospital. If she quit now, all of that would've been a total waste. Besides, she didn't want to be with Elijah at all. Maya wasn't even going to think about what her mother said. She had no clue why her mother would suggest that and didn't want to talk about it anymore. She told Patricia, "Mom, just drop it. I'm not doing that."
