From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever
Athena had been desperate to know whether Teri was really Zaden and Maya's biological child. But now that she had actually submitted the test, she felt nervous and anxious instead. She didn't know if she was worried the results wouldn't be what she wanted, or afraid something unexpected might happen. Thinking about these emotions, Athena couldn't help but laugh at herself. Anyway, now that she'd started, no matter what the final results were, she could only face them head-on. Zaden had been called back to the Storm Estate for dinner by Drake today. He didn't bring Athena with him, so after work, Athena could only go home alone. When she reached the hospital entrance and was about to call a cab, a car suddenly pulled up in front of her. Athena watched as the car window rolled down, revealing half of a man's face. That familiar half-smile tugged at his lips. Elijah looked at Athena and said, "Where are you headed? Need a ride?" Hearing Elijah's familiar tone, Athena remembered what he'd said to her today. She had many questions she wanted to ask. But thinking about how Zaden had been wronged today, and how Elijah stood on the opposite side from Zaden, she didn't dare to get too close to Elijah, afraid it would make Zaden angry. Athena said distantly, "No thanks. I already called a cab." Seeing Athena's distant attitude, Elijah sighed helplessly. "You don't really need to avoid me. After all, we'll be seeing each other often from now on." Athena pressed her lips together, not knowing how to answer this question. So she simply said nothing at all. A few minutes later, Athena's cab arrived. She jumped in as if escaping. Only after the driver pulled away did Athena breathe a sigh of relief. Finally, she'd gotten away. But Elijah seemed to be right. They would still see each other in the future. Thinking about how they might meet frequently, Athena felt a headache coming on. She couldn't shake the feeling that Elijah seemed to have ill intentions. Was it just because she was Zaden's woman? After returning to the villa, Athena pushed down the thoughts in her mind. At this time, the maid had already picked up Teri and brought her home. Right now, Teri was watching TV in the living room. When she saw Athena come home, she immediately got up and ran toward Athena, smiling sweetly. "Mommy, you're home!" Seeing Teri come to greet her, Athena felt like her heart was melting. At this moment, all her emotions seemed to vanish into thin air. Suddenly, a thought popped into her mind. Even if the test showed that Teri was Maya's child, she wouldn't give up this child. Teri looked curiously behind Athena and asked, "Mommy, where's Daddy? Why isn't he back yet?" Usually by this time, Zaden would have already come home. But now it was so late and there was still no sign of Zaden. She didn't know where he'd gone. Athena reached out and touched Teri's head, saying softly to her, "Teri, your daddy has to work late tonight. Is it okay if I have dinner with you?" "Okay, let's eat together!" Teri wasn't unhappy at all. She cheerfully took Athena's hand and they walked to the dining table together. In the past, Athena used to cook, but now because her work at the hospital was especially busy, sometimes she even had to work overtime. So Zaden hired a maid who would prepare meals before they got off work and also pick up and drop off Teri. When Athena got home, there was already food to eat. It was quite nice. The two ate dinner together. Athena put the dishes in the dishwasher, helped Teri take a bath, then watched her do her homework. Just then, her phone suddenly rang. Athena picked it up with a puzzled expression. The call was from the hospital. "Hello, Dr. Hall. Sorry to bother you so late. Do you have time right now? There was a multi-car pileup earlier with quite a few injured. Some hospitals can't accommodate them all, so they've been sent to our hospital. We might need to trouble you to come in for some overtime." When Athena heard this, her expression immediately grew serious. She said, "Okay, I understand. I'll be right there." Teri saw that Athena's expression didn't look good. She stopped writing and looked at her curiously. "Mommy, what's wrong? Who called you?" Athena shook her head and said to Teri, "It's nothing. I need to go to the hospital. I'll have Harriet come keep you company, okay?" Teri was also a sensible child. She knew Athena needed to work and didn't want to complain. So she nodded and said obediently, "Okay, I'll be good and listen to you." Athena called Harriet and told her about the situation. Half an hour later, Harriet arrived at Athena's house. Athena gave her a few quick instructions, then drove herself to the hospital.
