From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever

Chapter 350 Zaden Bakes?

Athena would know the result soon. She was determined to find out whether Teri was really Maya's child or not. ... The next morning, Athena opened her eyes. As soon as she got up, Teri woke up, too. After washing up, they went downstairs and found Zaden sitting in the dining room, drinking coffee. "Morning, Daddy!" Seeing Zaden up so early, Athena paused for a second, then greeted him too. "Good morning." She felt a little guilty. Teri had come out with her last night, and after Teri fell asleep, Athena had heard Zaden open the door and come in. But she pretended to be asleep, too scared to face him, afraid he might bring up that topic. Luckily, Zaden didn't try to wake her. Zaden looked up at Athena, and she guiltily looked away. I hope he doesn't figure it out. Last night, he had gone to check on Athena. He'd planned to ask her to come back to their room to sleep. But seeing Athena and Teri cuddled up, he decided not to separate them, worried Teri would wake up and think he was stealing her mom. After sitting down, Teri said to him, "Daddy, Mommy promised to come to the school event today!" Zaden looked at Athena.Athena snapped out of it then. She nodded lightly and said to Zaden, "Yeah, I promised Teri last night." Zaden looked down and said, "Every parent has to bring a dish for the event, either store-bought or homemade. Have you prepared anything?" Athena was taken aback. Teri never mentioned anything about food. She'd only asked Athena to be there. What should I do? Is there still time to make something? Zaden said, "It's fine if you didn't. I already made something." Athena looked at him in surprise. He made something? Was that why he got up so early? Zaden stood and went into the kitchen, pulling out a baking tray. Athena's eyes widened when she saw a batch of cookies in different cartoon shapes. Zaden actually bakes? Didn't this mean he's just too talented? Just as Athena was gasping internally, Zaden seemed to read her mind. He said in a deep voice, "What are you thinking? I didn't make them. They were just store-bought cookie dough. I only popped them in the oven." Athena was amused and embarrassed. She had thought Zaden made them. She'd been impressed, turns out they were just half-finished products! Still, she had to admit that Zaden had done a great job baking them, and he seemed experienced, like he'd done this many times before. She told Zaden, "Since you've already prepared everything, I won't hesitate, I'll take them." After breakfast, Athena and Teri helped pack up the cookies nicely. Then, the two of them headed out for school. Zaden wanted to drive them there, but Athena didn't want to bother him. She told him to go to work instead, saying she could take Teri herself. Zaden didn't insist and agreed. They arrived at the school gate. Just as Athena was holding Teri's hand and about to walk in, she saw a familiar figure. Her whole body went on high alert. It was Maya! Seeing Maya, Athena was visibly caught off guard. Why is Maya here—at Teri's school? Maya's expression darkened when she saw Athena and Teri. A look of calculation in her eyes. Both women fell silent for a beat. Then, Maya quickly hid whatever she was thinking. She looked Athena up and down, noticed her confusion, and smirked. "Well, well, Athena. What a coincidence running into you here." "It is quite a coincidence, Professor Rice." This was the first time they'd spoken since their last confrontation. The last time they saw each other was when Maya visited Ariana, but Athena hadn't said a word to her then. While they didn't get along, they still had to maintain some surface level friendliness since they both worked at Storm Group's hospital. Athena didn't mind saying hi. Maya smiled faintly and said, "I'll go in first. Catch you later." Then, she held her head high and walked arrogantly toward the school entrance. Athena squinted, still puzzled. She still didn't get why Maya was even there. She didn't have a kid with her, so she probably wasn't here as a parent. Not being able to figure it out, Athena just let it go.She was only there as Teri's mom for the event; she wouldn't have anything to do with Maya, let alone fear her.
