From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever

Chapter 342 Where's Athena?

Zaden couldn't help but laugh when he heard Athena's remark. "I'm really afraid that you might run away. What would I do then?" Athena sighed helplessly. "Fine. Then come pick me up after work." Zaden finally released her hand. "Have a good day at work," he said. Athena nodded, opened the door of the lounge, and walked out. Only then did the tightness in Zaden's chest ease. At least that's over. Women could be terrifying when they got angry. He didn't leave the hospital right away. Instead, he went straight to the person in charge and asked her to assign Ariana a new attending doctor. The person didn't dare delay and followed his orders immediately. Once everything was arranged, Zaden finally felt at ease. Athena had been hurt badly this time, and the guilt weighed on him. He didn't want her to suffer any more because of Ariana. He waited for her in the office until her shift ended. Meanwhile, Ariana had just returned to her ward after her checkup. She hadn't meant to push Athena earlier. It had been an instinctive reaction, born of the resentment she felt toward her. When she remembered the pale look on Athena's face and the way her brows furrowed, a pang of guilt struck her. Did Athena get hurt? Ariana turned toward the maid standing respectfully beside the bed. "Clara, when I pushed Athena earlier, she didn't look well. Do you think she got hurt?" "Mrs. Ariana, I haven't heard anything about her being injured," Clara replied quickly. "Perhaps nothing happened."Ariana exhaled in relief. Then, hesitating for a moment, she asked softly, "Clara, do you think I'm unreasonable? Someone everyone hates?" Clara almost laughed. She knew Ariana well—tough on the outside, soft on the inside. Once Ariana accepted someone, she would defend them fiercely. Right now, she disliked Athena, which explained her coldness. But if her feelings changed, everything would be different. "Mrs. Ariana," Clara said gently, "you're overthinking it. You didn't mean to push Dr. Hall. It was just an accident, maybe with a little too much force. I'm sure she's fine. Don't dwell on it too much." Even with Clara's comfort, Ariana's frown didn't fade. She still couldn't shake the feeling that Athena might have been hurt. Seeing that her words weren't enough, Clara continued, "If you really feel guilty, then when Dr. Hall comes to check on you again, you can apologize to her." "Apologize to her?" Ariana's face immediately darkened. Clara could only smile helplessly. "Didn't you just say you might have hurt her and felt bad about it? If you don't apologize, it'll keep bothering you. You won't be able to sleep tonight, and it'll be bad for your health." Ariana let out a long sigh upon hearing that. "All right, you have a point. I'll apologize when she comes." Clara smiled to herself. Mrs. Ariana claimed she was standing up for Ms. Maya, but now she's feeling guilty for hurting Dr. Hall. At this rate, it won't be long before she stops disliking her altogether. Clara didn't realize how soon her thoughts would come true. Just as they were talking, a knock sounded at the door.Ariana immediately looked toward Clara, silently asking if it was Athena. Clara nodded. Ariana straightened up, mentally prepared herself, and stared expectantly toward the door. "Come in." The door opened, and a middle-aged man in a white coat entered instead of Athena. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Ariana. I'm your new attending doctor, Kevin Lynch. You can call me Dr. Lynch. If you have any questions or discomfort, please let me know at any time—" Ariana didn't hear a word after that. The moment she saw him, her eyes widened in shock. "What? Why is it you?" she exclaimed. "Where's Athena? She's my doctor! Tell her to come—I don't want you to treat me!" Kevin had already heard about the situation. He knew that Athena was Zaden's wife, and that she had been wronged here. It was only natural for Zaden to intervene on her behalf. Keeping his tone polite, he said, "Mrs. Ariana, Dr. Hall is injured and won't be able to treat you for the time being. Please don't worry, you're in good hands. I'll do everything I can to help you recover."
