From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever

Chapter 338 Teach Athena a Good Lesson

Hearing Jaylee's words, Ariana's expression stiffened. She, a dignified lady of a prestigious family, had just been lectured by a young girl. It made her sound reckless, unreasonable, and utterly lacking in manners! Athena turned to Jaylee and said gently, "Alright, don't be angry. It's not worth upsetting yourself." Then she lifted her gaze toward Ariana, her tone turning cold. "Mrs. Ariana, my assistant is right. If you don't trust my ability and refuse my treatment, then please request another doctor. I'm afraid I'm not fit to serve you." Without waiting for Ariana's response, Athena took Jaylee by the arm and walked out of the room. Ariana stood rooted to the spot, her face dark with anger. Athena isn't an easy one! No wonder Maya hadn't been able to get the better of her! Just then, one of the attendants stepped forward with a phone. "Mrs. Ariana, it's Ms. Maya calling." At the mention of Maya, Ariana's expression softened slightly. She took the call. "Hello, Maya. What's the matter, dear?" "Grandma, why did you go to Storm Hospital?" Maya sounded surprised. "Don't we have our own hospital? Wouldn't it be better for you to stay there?" Ariana let out a cold snort. "You're the one who's always running off to Storm Hospital. Why can't I come here too?" Maya fell silent, feeling a bit frustrated. The real reason she had gone to Storm Hospital before was to find a way to reconnect with Zaden. Their fallout had been ugly, and he had refused to see her since. She couldn't approach him through Storm Group, so the hospital had become her only possible connection. "Alright, I won't tease you anymore. You said Athena is very capable, and you've suffered quite a few losses under her hand, didn't you? The last incident was such a scandal—if our family hadn't stepped in to suppress the news, your reputation would've been ruined!" At the reminder, Maya's face turned grim. She hadn't expected to lose so badly. Athena's victory had been complete. What hurt the most was that her brother had turned against her. That was something she could never accept. Ariana continued with a snort, "So, I came to Storm Hospital specially to see her, and to settle the score on your behalf." Of course, she didn't mention that she had already been outmaneuvered by Athena earlier. "Alright then, Grandma, just be careful," Maya said sweetly. Her heart warmed at her grandmother's words. Even if Preston had betrayed her, she still had her grandmother on her side. With Ariana stepping in, dealing with Athena should be a piece of cake. Ariana huffed. "What, you think I can't handle it?" "No, Grandma," Maya replied quickly, her tone full of flattery. "You're amazing! I've always admired you! I know you'll teach Athena a good lesson." Ariana smiled in satisfaction, her heart swelling with pride. "I know you still care about Zaden," she said softly. "Don't worry. Grandma will help you this time." "I knew it! You are the best, Grandma!" Maya said in a sweet, coaxing tone.... Meanwhile, Zaden, aware that Athena was angry with him, was doing everything he could to make amends. That day, he even pushed back his work schedule to visit her at the hospital in person. But after searching the wards, he couldn't find her anywhere. When he asked a nurse, she told him Athena had taken a patient for a checkup. A patient? Zaden had thought Athena was still getting settled into her position, so he hadn't expected her to have patients already. It seemed she really was busy, not just using work as an excuse. He couldn't help but feel bad for Athena. He made his way toward the examination room and unexpectedly ran into Ariana. The Rices and the Storms had been long-time acquaintances. Even though things had ended badly between him and Maya, proper courtesy toward her elders was still due. "Mrs. Ariana," Zaden greeted politely, giving a respectful nod. "What brings you here?" Ariana replied, "I heard the doctors at your hospital are quite skilled, so I came to see for myself." Zaden didn't comment. Her answer clearly wasn't the full truth, but he had no reason to object to her being treated there. He was about to find an excuse to leave when Ariana suddenly said, "Zaden, you and Maya used to be so close. I thought for sure you'd end up as our family's son-in-law." Zaden's eyes turned cold as he replied, "It seems I don't have the luck for that."It was a graceful answer and free of any mention of the past.
