From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever
News from Vlephia didn't reach Athena right away. When Harriet called to tell her, she couldn't hold back any longer. She quickly turned on her phone's data and opened the app to see what Maya had posted. To her shock, the first thing she saw was a video of herself performing the surgery simulation in the lab. Athena's brows tightened. How did Maya even get her hand on this footage so fast? She scrolled down to the comments. Just as she expected, the section was full of nasty remarks. [Are you kidding me? She can't even hold the scalpel steady. Would you trust her to operate on you?] [Athena took Professor Rice's challenge. Guess she's trying too hard to prove herself.] [This is ridiculous. Is that a real surgery or a simulation? If it's real, that poor patient's doomed!] [Let's file a complaint to the hospital. They can't keep a doctor like that around!] Then another message popped up from Harriet. "Have you seen it? Maya just leaked your simulation video online. You're overseas and can't defend yourself. She's using this to stir public opinion. If too many people protest, even a hospital owned by Storm Group won't be able to keep you." Reputation was everything to a doctor. Once it was ruined, no patient would ever come to you again, and that meant your career was over. "I think Maya's trying to mess with your head," Harriet added. "She wants you to panic and make mistakes later. Athena, you've got to stay strong."Harriet did worry a bit about Athena's hand and whether she was genuinely healed. But after a moment's thought, she decided to trust her. Since Athena was confident, Harriet decided not to interfere. Athena replied calmly, "This is just the beginning. Don't worry. I'll handle it." After setting her phone down, she sat quietly for a moment, deep in thought. Athena wasn't upset about Maya's post; it didn't bother her emotionally. What troubled her was how Maya got the video in the first place. Today was her first day at the research institute, the first time she'd held a scalpel again. Yet, somehow, every move she made had been sent straight to Maya. Someone must have leaked it. Was it the receptionist? Athena remembered how that woman had looked at Zaden with far too much interest. Maybe she was the one who secretly passed on the video. But that didn't make much sense. The receptionist hadn't been inside the lab; it would've been difficult for her to access the security footage. Athena frowned deeply, lost in thought. Besides Roxanne, there had been several assistant doctors present during the session. She didn't know who among them had betrayed her, but she was determined to find out. Tomorrow, she would expose whoever did this. Not long after, Zaden arrived. He had changed into a black suit, looking calm and elegant. When he glanced at her from the driver's seat, her heart skipped a beat. Athena muttered inwardly, With that smoking hot look, no wonder that receptionist couldn't stop staring. She grabbed her bag and got into the car. Zaden looked at her, noticing the tension in her face right away. "Did today's surgical simulation fail? Or did something else go wrong?" Hearing Zaden's concern, Athena's bottled-up feelings welled up again. She wasn't weak, but in that moment, having a shoulder to lean on felt really good. "Maya posted it on Instagram. Did you see it?" Zaden looked surprised. "No." He added, "Show it to me. I don't really use that stuff." Athena wondered if he was brushing it off because of what happened before, but she didn't argue. She opened Maya's Instagram and handed the phone to him. "See for yourself." Zaden stared at the screen. His brow tightened. "How did Maya know we were abroad? How did she get those videos?" Athena sneered. "That's the question I want to ask you. "Did something go wrong with your arrangement?" She pushed. Zaden's face darkened at her words. He had personally chosen that place for Athena. The hospital director was a close acquaintance of his, and they had ongoing partnerships with his company. There shouldn't have been any problems. "I'll find out who did this," he said quietly. "Don't worry." Athena leaned back in the chair. "I'm not worried. I'll find the person behind this tomorrow."
