The Rise of the Rejected Luna

Chapter 329

Adira found it extremely boring staying alone in the hotel. She couldn't make it to the office as she wasn't in the right frame of mind to work, and she didn't have any friends to call over either. She felt so depressed, alone and exhausted. She had thrown up twice that morning, and her head wouldn't stop banging. The pregnancy symptoms were getting serious. When it was evening, she tried calling Lancelot, but like the first time, his line was switched off. Did the bastard intentionally dump his phone just to ignore her? Well, he should keep doing that for as long as he could, because she was never going to stop trying. She was too enraged, she decided to go over to his house and meet him instead. Perhaps, if she could get him to talk while secretly putting it on record, it could serve as an evidence that he had really set her up. That way, she'd be able to get Nikolai back and also get the bastard arrested. Making use of her car, she drove straight to his house, her hands gripping the steering tight. Unfortunately, when she reached, she was informed by the man at the gate that he wasn't home. Looking from the windows, the lights in the house were out, causing Adira to believe he might truly not be home. Even if she had her doubts, she couldn't force her way in and create a scene. So, she had no option but to believe the man. "When do you think he'll be home?" She inquired. "I have no idea, ma'am. He hasn't been home for two days now." This got Adira more infuriated. Indeed, the bastard knew what he was doing. He was intentionally avoiding her. She returned to her car, seething with rage. Just as she was about turning on the car, her phone trilled beside her. She glanced at the screen and discovered it was Mrs. Bellamy. Oh, God. The woman had called earlier that morning, but she was too depressed and couldn't speak with her. Perhaps, it was time to finally explain things to the woman. Possibly, she could find a way to help. Taking the call, she closed her eyes placed a hand over her head. "Good evening, mum." "Adira. Where are you?" The woman's voice was breaking, indicating she was in tears. Adira's eyes jolted open at once, anxiety shooting through her body. "M... Mum, is there a problem? Why are you..." "You need to come over to the hospital. Nikolai just had a terrible accident." **** She's never driven that fast before. Her eyes were bloody red, her hands shivered on the steering and tears dropped from time to time. Mrs. Bellamy's words haunted her, she lost count if how many times has beat traffic rules. She didn't care anymore. They could track her later on all they wanted, Nikolai was the only one in her mind.'Nikolai just had a terrible accident.' the woman's words bounced off in her mind, making her heart sink every damn time. Her Nikolai. Nothing must happen to him. Nothing at all. She finally got to the hospital and wasn't even sure she locked the car before stepping out of it. Asking the first nurse she saw, she was directed to Nikolai's room, and the moment she got to the floor, it was easier locating it. Every member of the Kensington was there - except for Mr. Thatcher. They were all outside the room, few of them having tears and pity in their eyes. Bellamy was being comforted by Mr. Vincent, Na-ri stood alone, crying, while Finn's wife had tears in her eyes. Why were they all crying like he was dead already? Adira thought fearfully. She slackened her steps as she walked towards them, her heart drumming in her chest. Finally, she got to the large window and fear slithered through her, all the way to her toes. Her hand went over her mouth, muffling a gasp. Her entire body vibrated, she almost didn't feel alive. Was that her Nikolai? Looking so lifeless? Having so many tubes in and out of him? And even on oxygen support? How on earth could be that her Nikolai? "Oh, my God..." The soft cry broke through her throat, her tears falling freely. Her entire life, she's never been that hurt. She didn't even feel that way when Lancelot cheated on her, or when he threw divorce papers in her face, or when Nikolai yelled at her just the previous day. Not even during her moments of torture from her family. No body or thing has ever caused her the amount of pain she was feeling at that moment. It was unbearable. "He insisted on driving." Bellamy whimpered, her head on her husband's chest. "His guards tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen. He was drunk and he..." She sobbed more. "Why would he even do such a thing? He was so drunk and..." The words got lost in the woman's throat again. Adira was even more broken. He was drunk? Obviously, he had been drinking because of her. Becuase of what happened. "It's all her fault." Na-ri spoke angrily. Turning slowly, she looked at Adira. Her eyes were filled with nothing but rage. "Adira cheated on him and that's the reason he broke down. She's the reason he got drunk and got into this mess!" Everyone was shocked. Eyes turned on Adira like she had just done the most outrageous thing. "Seriously?" Kalina scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "You cheated on him?" "Of course! That's the reason THIS happened! Why else do you think she's been away from the house? Why do you think Nikolai had a break down for the first time in a long time and drove out of the house in that manner? It was all because of her!" She pointed at Adira like she was a witch. "She caused this! She brought this ruin upon Nikolai's life! From the very first day she stepped foot into his life, things have never the same!"An angry tear slipped her cheek. Adira was too broken and focused on Nikolai, she almost didn't hear the words being thrown at her. "Adira, is ..is that true?" Bellamy asked, astonished. "Did you really... cheat on Nik?" Tearfully, she shook her head. For the first time, she didn't know how to respond to a false accusation. Her heart was in pieces. "You cheated on my son?" Mr. Vincent growled. "How ungrateful can you be?" "I didn't." She mumbled, shaking her head. "I didn't." "Oh! Stop lying. You know you did. I know everything." "I said I didn't!" Her words came out in a roar this time around. She looked at Na-ri, her eyes throwing rage and hatred. Her fists clenched, she ambled towards her. "I've always and will always love Nikolai." Her tone was both broken and hateful. "There's never been a day that I disrespected him. I was framed just yesterday, setup so he'd think I cheated on him. But I didn't. I'd never do that." Na-ri took an instinctive step back. She's never seen Adira that way before, and she knew right there, that she was dangerous. Adira got so close that their feet were nearly touching. Na-ri swallowed every other thing she had to say to her. She didn't have the strength for a fight. The tension between them became too serious. When nothing else was said, Adira stepped away and walked out of the passage.
