The Rise of the Rejected Luna
Adira had a warm smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she made she way into the kitchen. Clothed in Nikola's long-sleeved shirt that stopped just below her thighs, she looked adorable. He was still in bed, and she wanted to make breakfast before he's awake. She'd planned on making some bacon and eggs. Checking the crates, she discovered they had just two left. "Damn it." She hissed slowly. Two was never going to be enough. She stood still in front of the cupboard for a while, thinking of what to do. But not until she feels his familiar hands wrap her from behind, pulling her into his embrace. "Nikolai!" She let a startled gasp and chuckled afterwards. She wasn't expecting him. "Hey, beauty." He planted a kiss on her neck. His hand snaked up to her boobs and gave them a little squeeze. "Good morning." Adira smiled, her cheeks wearing all shades of pink. "Trying to make breakfast?" He cooed. "Yeah. But unfortunately, we're out of eggs. I'll need to dash out to a grocery store." She turned to face him. "Huh? Make something else instead. We can just..." "Please....I really want bacon and eggs." It was a little crazy, tho. She felt she might run nuts if she didn't have them at the moment. Unfortunately, they didn't have helps to send on errands as Nikolai had wanted them to be strictly alone. Not even his guards were around. Although, they were in a resort that was well guarded at the entrance. But that was it. The guards were limited to the entrance alone. Nikolai was serious when he mentioned being alone with her. "Fine, I'll go get it for you." He opened his palms."What? Hell no. You and I know you need a lot of rest. Don't worry, I'll be fine." She kissed his lips and hurried into the room before he'd say something else. In a brisk, she'd slipped her legs through a pair of black pants, deciding to leave his shirt on. It looked cute anyway. She grabbed her car keys and found him in the sitting room. "Don't forget to take a guard with you." He dished out the usual instruction. "Come on, Nik. The estate is secured, remember? And the grocery store is just around." She rolled her eyes. "I'll be back soon, okay?" She gave him a final part on the cheek before leaving the resort. Once in her car, she sighed deeply and began driving out. The past one week hasn't been really easy for them, especially for Nikolai. They'd left home and came over to this big resort which was privately owned by Nikolai. Adira had no idea he had such a big property, guarded day and night just waiting for a time he'd privately need it - a time like this. She was thankful he was finally coming out of his shell and having a reason to smile. Since Ophelia's return a week ago, everything's been a little messy. The video had gone very viral and sparked a lot of reactions from people. While a lot of people expressed shock and wondered if Nikolai was really that evil, others questioned Ophelia's strange return and felt she was hiding something. 'It's very strange that she stayed hidden for ten years simply because she wanted to enjoy her poor life. That sounds like a lie.' some of the comments read. Nikolai was mute on the matter, and two days later, his legal team released an official statement, debunking everything Ophelia had said. Personally, Nikolai never wanted to say a word about it. He had been that hurt that he just didn't want to drop an opinion. But his legal team insisted it was necessary for the sake of protecting his image. Adira was equally pained, but she was thankful not so much damages was done to his name. She hated everything and wished they get punished for their sins. Especially Yvonne. It had broken her to know Yvonne was a spy all along. That explained why she was mostly going out of the house. At some point, Adira was beginning to wonder if she had a friend or some relatives out there. Mrs. Bellamy didn't stop beating and blaming herself for picking the young lady form the streets and deciding to give her a job. She cried for several days, insisting it was all her fault. Adira envisaged getting to lay her hands on Yvonne. If only she could set eyes on her, she'd beat her to a pulp and let her feel her wrath. That snake. Even Jagger was out of jail. He was released two days ago since Ophelia insisted he wasn't guilty. Although, Adira felt her mere words shouldn't have been enough to get him out of jail. She suspected some kind of connection must've taken place. She pulled over in front of the grocery store and vacated the car. It was just seven in the morning, so the roads were not really busy. And she liked it that way.Heading to the entrance of the store, the smell of roasted steak glided into her nostrils, making her freeze at once. Who the hell was making that so early? Damn! It smelt so good and she could only imagine how awesome it would taste in her mouth. For a moment there, she was tempted to look around for the source. She couldn't explain this strange cravings she's been getting for a couple of days now. Whatever it was , it wasn't doing much good to her. She decided to shut it off and proceeded into the store. There she was greeted with a warm smile by the store keeper who offered to hold her shopping basket for her. She declined. There were a few customers in the store. But thankfully, they weren't the type that usually fed on her with their eyes. She took as much eggs as she wanted and decided to get more supplies. So, she sauntered across different sections, picking out the things she needed. She came across a shelf that contained sanitary pads, and she became stock-still in an instant. Sanitary pads. It suddenly dawned on her that her period was a week late. Her cycle was mostly regular and has never been later than three days. So, what was this? She didn't have the time to accommodate the creepy idea that tried creeping into her head as someone showed up almost immediately. Someone familiar. She was with a friend and had laughter in her mouth as she looked at the shelf on her left. She walked towards Adira but didn't seem to notice her. Adira's blood boiled just by staring at her. It was none other than the witch - Ophelia. Adira threw obvious stares her way, it didn't take long before Ophelia noticed someone staring at her and looked in her way. The laughters seized from her lips, and her eyes hosted surprise. How dare she look so good - Adira thought angrily. How dare she look so happy after ruining Nikolai's happiness? She was simply clad in plain trouser and shirt and had few items in her basket."H-hey. You're Adira, right?" She chuckled - nervously. They were standings pretty close now. "You'll make a bad actress." Adira wagged her head. "It's always obvious when you lie, or try to pretend." Ophelia cast a quick glance around to be sure no one was watching. She and her friend tried walking away, but Adira reeled her back by the wrist. "It was much better when everyone thought you were dead. Trust me, even the earth hates that you're back." "Can you let her go?" The lady beside her said defensively, but Adira barely spared her a glance. Ophelia scoffed. "It's touching that you're trying to play the defensive wife here. But I find it dumb that you think I'm lying. Have you tried asking Nikolai about it? Does he also think I'm lying?" "He doesn't need to think. He told me everything. And I think you're really sick in the head for siding with the very man that made him pull that trigger." Adira griths her teeth now. "I don't care why the hell you did it. I don't care if he forced you or whatever. I just hope and want you to rot in hell. That's all I want." There was so much venom in her voice. Even Ophelia was startled for half a second. Forcefully, she fred her wrist from Adira's grip, shooting her a glare afterwards. "Stop acting like you're so special to Nikolai, okay?" She snorts. "How can you even act this way when you have barely two weeks to get separated from him?" A mix of shock and pain flickered through Adira's face. Ophelia decided to take advantage of that. "What? You think I don't know your marriage with him is all arranged? You're nothing special, Adira. So, quit this wifely duties if you can." Her friend sniggered beside her. She tried walking away again, but the next thing that tugs her back is a hard slap across her face. Hot and heavy.
