Nikolai's face morphed into a mask of cold fury, his eyes blazing with anger. The thought of Vesper laying his hands on Adira hit him like a thunderbolt and made the air around him cackle with his emotions. How could he? How could he lay his hands on his Adira? He visualized him ripping off her shirt and making her scared. How dare he? His breathing was ragged, and his chest heaved with the depth of his emotions. Lowering his gaze to his desk, he asked in a low and dangerous voice: "Did he... succeed?" "Not at all, sir! He stopped as soon as I stepped in. Thankfully, I arrived just in time. I promise, he didn't go far," Yvonne answered quickly. Then, in a swift move, Nikolai stood up, grabbed his car keys and stormed out of the room. Yvonne was frightened. Where was he going? She followed him out of the room but couldn't throw questions at him or run after him. Nikolai got out of the house and into one of his cars. His body guards ran after him. "Sir! Are you heading out?" They inquired, but he didn't even look at them. And before he'd drive away, they jumped into the backseat. ****†****†****† Nikolai sped down the winding roads, the engine roaring with power and as he pushed it to its limit. His bodyguards at the backseat were tensed and silent as they fixed their eyes on the road ahead. They knew that Nikolai was not in a good mood, and the reckless speed at which he was driving only made them more worried. The car careened around a sharp bend, the tires screeching against the asphalt as it hugged the curve. The guards held on tight and braced themselves for the worst. Finally, they drove into the mansion and Nikolai screeched to a halt. He stormed out of the car, along with his guards, and marched towards the house. "Where is he?" He asked frantically as he marched into the living room where his parents were. "Nikolai!" Mrs Bellamy's skin prickled with fear at the sight of him. He looked so furious, she's never seen him that way in a long time. "Son, what's..." "Where is he? Where is Vesper?!" He bellowed at them, his eyes throwing a thousand daggers. His parents had gotten to their feet. "Nikolai, calm down. What's going on? What happened to..." Before Mr Vincent could get the rest of the words out of his mouth, Nikolai was already taking the stairs. "Nikolai!" They called and ran after him. He sought after Vesper's room and found him trying to step out. The moment Vesper noticed the fierce-looking Nikolai coming towards him, he tried retreating to the room, but Nikolai was quick enough to stop the door from going shut. He bursted into the room and gripped Vesper's collars immediately. "How dare you?" He gritted. "How dare you raise your filthy hands on her?" Vesper was terrified. At that point, it didn't feel like he was being gripped by his younger brother. "Hey, man! What're you doing? Let me go!" He struggled with his grip, and instantly, Nikolai punched him hard in the face. The force of the blow sent Vesper reeling backwards, his eyes wide with shock and pain. Before he could even recover, Nikolai went after him and pummeled him with a fury that was both terrifying and awe-inspiring. His fists were like hammers, raining down blow after blow on his face and body with a sickening thud. Vesper tried to fight back, but it was like trying to stop a freight train with a feather. Nikolai was too strong, too fast, too furious. His parents and bodyguards came running in immediately, and his parents flinched at the sight on the floor. "My goodness! Stop it!" Bellamy cried out. The guards thought of interfering, but seeing that their boss was the one in charge, they decided to stay back. Moreover, they were certain he had a good reason for initiating the fight. Nikolai grabbed Vesper by the collars of his shirt, dragged him up and pushed him against the the wall with a force that was almost superhuman. Vesper gasped for breath, his head spinning and his body racking with pains. Nikolai kicked him in the legs and brought him down to the floor again where he released more punches on him. "Nikolai please!" Bellamy went after him and held him back, her eyes teary. "You're going to kill him! Please!" Nikolai glared down at Vesper and still had the urge to punch him more in the face. He wanted to watch him suffer. But when his mother held him, he forced himself to stand back. His dark gloves were already stained with Vesper's blood and staring at it gave him satisfaction. He gave Vesper a final kick on the chest before stepping away. "Nikolai, what is the meaning of this?" Mr Vincent snapped at him. "How can you just walk in here and do this to your brother?" Coldly, he turned to his father. "You should ask your miserable son why the hell he tried to force himself on my wife." Bellamy clamped a hand over her mouth and gasped. Mrs Vincent's eyes melted as well. Vesper was still on the floor, battered and broken and could barely lift a finger. Saying nothing else, Nikolai flounced out of the room. *** A While Later *** Mr. Vincent was troubled. Seeing Nikolai react that way had gotten him very concerned, he couldn't get some sleep during the night. He understood the fact that Vesper was very wrong for trying to force himself on Adira, but Nikolai's reaction was way out of it. He's never seen him react that way to anyone before, and the thought of it alone frightened. 'My marriage with Adira will only be for two years,' he recalled Nikolai's words to him a year ago. 'At the end of two years, I'll divorce her and get married to Na-ri.' They only had a couple of months left, yet Nikolai was already acting that way towards Adira. What if something goes wrong and he decides to change his mind? He couldn't let that happen. Mr Vincent was in his study room when he took out his phone and dialed the line. His fingers drummed the table as he listened to the beep, and finally, the call was answered. "Father!" Na-ri's cheerful voice called from the other end. "Na-ri. How're you doing?" Mr Vincent asked. "Of course, I'm fine, father. Korea's just fine." She beamed. "Good. I called because I feel there's a problem. You might need to come over, Na-ri, and stay by Nikolai's side."
