She Wore Many Masks, and Ruled Them All

Chapter 482 The Broken Bond

“Hahaha!” Dania’s laughter rang out, wild and unhinged, her hair flying loose around her face. “Beth, you’ll never have the real Tony again! The Lock of Emotion is gone—his memories will never—” Before she could finish, a navy officer struck the side of her neck with a precise hand chop, knocking her unconscious. Lucas and Kaizen rushed Tony back to the Oliver estate. “Dania destroyed the Emotional Lock Bell!” Lucas shouted as they burst through the doors. The Medicine Valley Master and the white-haired elder hurried forward to examine Tony. The Valley Master quickly lifted Tony’s eyelids and checked his pulse. Her expression turned grave. “His pupils are dilated—his spirit is fracturing!” She turned to the old man. “Master, I’ll need your skills!” The elder drew out a small sandalwood box from his robe. Inside were seven silver needles, each gleaming faintly under the light. “His soul is scattering,” he murmured. “I can stabilize him for now, but the rest… will depend on his own will.” Beth sat beside the bed, clutching Tony’s cold, trembling hand. “Miles, can you hear me? Please… it’s me.” Tony’s eyes snapped open—but the gaze that met hers was distant, cold, utterly unfamiliar. “Who are you? Where is this?” Then, as if something inside him shattered, he groaned and clutched his head. “Beth… run…” “Alternating amnesia,” the Valley Master said darkly. “The destruction of the Emotional Lock has caused his memories to collapse. His mind is trapped, torn between the truth and the false memories forced upon him.” Beth’s voice cracked as she asked, “Isn’t there any way to help him?” The old man exhaled deeply and sank into a chair. “Keeping him alive is already a blessing,” he said, weary but calm. Then his tone softened. “But… it isn’t hopeless.” Beth’s eyes lit up instantly. “Please—what can we do?” The old man stroked his beard slowly. “The Lock may be broken, but the bond of emotion remains. If his heart is led by true love, it may awaken what lies buried within him.” Sloane’s eyes brightened. “Master once said—no force in this world can overcome genuine feeling. Maybe Beth’s love is the key.” The Valley Master nodded in agreement. “Speak to him every day. Remind him of your memories together. Take him to the places you both loved. Let true feeling call to true feeling.” Beth reached out and gently touched Tony’s pale face. “Then I’ll bring him back. If it takes a day, I’ll stay by his side for a day. If it takes a year, I’ll stay for a year. No matter how long it takes, I won’t give up.” The others quietly stepped out to discuss their next move, leaving Beth alone at Tony’s bedside. Outside, the Valley Master’s expression turned serious. “Dania and her men may be captured, but whoever was behind her is still out there.” Mr. Gustin met her gaze. “Then we go to them—before they realize we’re coming.” The Valley Master nodded. “Agreed.” Mr. Gustin’s eyes hardened with resolve. “Don’t worry about me. Even if I have to break these old bones, I’ll see every last remnant of the Soul Guild destroyed.” “Master, let me come with you,” Sloane said immediately. She knew how dangerous the Soul Guild could be—and she couldn’t bear to stand aside. The Valley Master shook her head. “No. Mr. Gustin and I will handle this. You stay here and wait for good news.” Sloane had no choice but to obey. She hurried to prepare their travel packs. Kaizen quickly arranged for the Oliver family’s private jet to take them where they needed to go. Moments after the plane departed, Sloane and Lucas returned to the manor—only to see Shawn rushing in, carrying a bloodied man over his shoulders. “Sloane! You have to save him!” Shawn shouted, panic in his voice. Sloane and Lucas hurried over—and froze. The man Shawn was carrying, bruised and bleeding, was none other than Dr. Grayson—the same doctor who had once helped Sloane and Beth with the paternity test.
