Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Natalie used to stress about not having enough time to stay in the storage space. Back when she fought the wild boar, she could only hide there for an hour at most. If the enemy stayed any longer, she'd have no choice but to face them head-on. But now, everything had changed. She could just slip into the storage space and pop out somewhere else—right behind an enemy if she wanted. She could make an instant counterattack just like that. Natalie was so hyped that she nearly cheered. Lucky was just as stunned. She curled up in the corner of the living room, watching Natalie pop in and out all over the place. If Natalie added some flickering lights and a white dress, the scene could be straight out of a horror movie! Finally worn out, she flopped onto the couch, her mind racing. Right now, she could teleport three feet in and out. If she kept collecting emeralds, could she push that distance even further? How far could it go? 15 feet? 30 feet? 300 feet? There was no way she could teleport out of the country, right? Natalie rubbed her chin, thinking. Probably not. It'd likely cap at some point, like the storage space itself. Even three feet was already more than enough. She couldn't imagine how much more fun life would be if it got any more upgrades. Right now, she felt a lot more confident about the future. That night, Natalie slept soundly. The next morning, Olivia had just gotten up when she heard knocking at the door. She opened it and saw Natalie standing there, looking radiant. "Morning, Olivia!" Olivia stared at Natalie in shock. What was going on? She'd never seen Natalie so happy. "Morning, Natalie. You look so joyful today." Of course, Natalie wasn't about to spill the storage space secret. She just winked and said, "Oh, nothing special. I had a steamy dream last night, so I feel extra refreshed and full of energy today." Olivia stared in disbelief. Did you just say those wild words out loud?! Natalie stayed chill. "Have you packed up? If you're ready, let's head out."Olivia nodded, still stunned. Natalie ran upstairs to call Harold. It was market time, and Natalie was super pumped to see if there were any emeralds left. On the way downstairs, they passed Olivia's old place on the 13th floor and sneaked a look inside. Sure enough, the door had been forced open, and the place trashed. Olivia shivered. Good thing she'd moved to the 14th floor early like Natalie suggested. ... Today, Natalie was driving the inflatable rescue boat again, loaded with crocodile meat. Harold sat on the boat. Looking at Natalie, he asked Olivia, "Did you guys eat something tasty last night without me? Looks like Natalie is in a great mood today." Olivia blushed. "Mind your own business! Don't ask stuff you shouldn't!"How could she explain that Natalie's good mood came from an unspeakable dream? That was embarrassing! Harold looked confused. What exactly was off-limits to ask? Natalie usually kept her emotions in check and rarely showed much. But she could teleport and walk through walls now! That was as good as suddenly inheriting 30 billion dollars! Thirty billion now would just be worthless paper. It couldn't buy superpowers! She was smiling just a bit more than usual, trying to keep it low-key. Seeing Harold's curious face, she grinned and teased, "It's nothing. I just dreamed of five handsome guys with eight-pack abs showing up at my house." Harold froze. Idol, I didn't know you were that bold! Olivia was speechless as well. That's why I told him not to ask! The three of them soon arrived at the floating market again. Natalie had a clear goal this time—emeralds. She wanted to grab every piece she could find, eager to try teleporting 30 feet. But after circling the market, she didn't find a single emerald. Harold and Olivia, on the other hand, managed to trade for lots of stuff. Their needs were pretty simple. Working like a mechanic, Harold enjoyed collecting all kinds of strange metal scraps like iron rods, forks, and anything he could carry home. He also traded for snacks and spices, remembering his mother always complained about missing ingredients for fondue. So anytime he spotted someone selling spices like fondue mixes or marinades, he'd trade some of his meat for them. They already had a ton of fish at home, so anything extra was for trading. If it could make life a bit easier, he'd go for it. Olivia kept things super simple. She only went after the most useful stuff. She traded for easy-to-store dry foods, salt and sugar cubes, basic seasonings, and cooking fuel. Since the market was now overflowing with seafood, crocodile meat wasn't as hot a commodity as it used to be. Still, they had plenty of it and managed to swap for a bunch of handy supplies.
