Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 666 A Hidden Key

Natalie felt even more embarrassed. She pushed his hand away. "I was talking nonsense. I deserved that." Cassian's eyes curved as he smiled. "It was just a few words. What are you afraid of? You're not Poseidon. You can't cause a tsunami just by talking." Natalie kept looking away. "I'm a jinx..." Cassian was quiet for two seconds. Then, he restarted the car. "Then, hurry up. Collect everything, and let's go." The car soon stopped in front of the clubhouse building. Natalie put the car into her storage space. She followed Cassian inside, with Lucky, Cash, and Baron close behind. The place had already been ransacked by survivors. Everything was a mess. But the thick layer of dust showed that no one had been here for a long time. Even so, the old luxury was still easy to see in the design and décor. As Natalie walked, she looked around. "This clubhouse is much better than the one in Northlorn." Natalie didn't really like golf. But her parents often played with business partners, so she had gone along a few times. The environment and facilities here were clearly much better than the ones back home. Why didn't Cassian build a good course near his place? Why come all the way out here? Cassian explained, "People here spend more. The facilities are better, and the profits are higher." For a businessman, the answer was simple. You invest where the money is. Natalie nodded. She followed him past several VIP lounges, all the way to the very last room.As soon as they entered, Cassian lifted the carpet in the center of the room. He found a floor tile and pried it up with ease. Natalie stared in shock. "You really love hidden setups. You build them everywhere, don't you?" Cassian smiled. "It's not a real trap. Just a small hidden compartment." He reached inside and took out a red beryl, about the size of a Rubik's Cube. He handed it to Natalie. Natalie looked at it closely, pleasantly surprised. "An emerald?" Cassian nodded and said, "Red beryl." Natalie didn't put it into her storage space right away. She asked carefully, "Is this the key to the southern warehouse? Where's the entrance?" She had seen shows where you put a special gem into a special slot, and a hidden door opens. Cassian shook his head. "It's not a key. It's just a decoy. Go ahead and feed it to your storage space." Then he reached into the now-empty compartment and felt around. Soon, he opened another small compartment inside it and pulled out a key. "This is the key we're really here for." Natalie glanced at the compartment inside a compartment. "You're really careful." With the setup like this, even if someone noticed a hidden space under the floor tiles, their attention would be pulled to the emeralds. They wouldn't think to check the small compartment on the side. Natalie clicked her tongue and put the red beryl into her storage space. As expected, the bracelet on her wrist didn't change at all. Her storage space had become extremely picky. It was getting harder and harder to upgrade.Judging by the size and quality, this red beryl was easily worth over a hundred thousand dollars, yet it still barely moved the upgrade meter. Cassian saw the disappointment on her face and tried to comfort her. "It was only meant to be a decoy. It's not worth that much anyway." Natalie hummed and casually asked, "So how much does this cost?" Cassian answered honestly, "Probably a bit over 200,000 dollars." Natalie puffed her cheeks. He calls this stone not worth that much?! This man and her storage space were the same, both ridiculously generous with money. After getting the key, Cassian led Natalie and the three little ones out of the building. Natalie asked curiously, "The warehouse entrance isn't in this building?" Cassian nodded. "No. Too many people around here. Not convenient." He then pointed in the distance. "It's not far. It's in a villa over there." Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Then, why don't you hide the key in that villa?" Cassian replied, "This way is safer." Even if someone found the key, they wouldn't know what it opened. Natalie gave his cautious thinking a thumbs-up. Then she took the Knight XV out of her storage space. The two of them and the three little ones got back into the vehicle. From where they were, the villa Cassian mentioned wasn't visible. But after driving for a few minutes, a small standalone villa came into view. Natalie looked around. The house was still inside the estate grounds. "You live here?" she asked.Cassian nodded and said, "Yeah. I come here often for business trips." Natalie sighed with feeling. "This spot feels better than the hillside." Living here, the view outside was a wide stretch of green golf course. From the top floor, you could probably even see the ocean. Compared to Hillside Villa 1, the view was much more open. Of course, during Frostfall, it looked far colder and lonelier. Cassian agreed, "The surroundings are better than the hillside, but the house itself can't compare." Natalie nodded and said, "True. This place isn't even half the size of Villa 1."
