Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
"Man, can we talk about this? Chill with that wild energy! That's my wife!" But the guy was no match for Cassian. He tried to grab his arm, only to be thrown down so fast the sound of impact filled the room like a dull thud. Cassian didn't even blink. He knew exactly how to handle the situation. If he wanted to get to both of them, all he had to do was beat the woman. One look at the husband's horrified face told him it worked. Every hit she took tore him apart inside. It was killing two birds with one stone. With Natalie's voice playing in the background, Cassian kept going, using the woman like a training bag, each strike sharp and relentless. The wife's screams only made him hit harder. Natalie eventually looked out the window, saw the snow picking up again, and decided it was time to move. She muted her mic, dug a water bottle out of her backpack, and took a drink. Cassian stopped right away. He took the bottle from her, drank deeply, and exhaled. Both of them seemed calm, almost content. The only one broken was the shop owner's wife. Her nose was crushed, her face swollen, blood dripping down her chin, and her body trembling like her bones might shatter at any second. The husband, who had been thrown aside earlier, scrambled over and pulled his wife into his arms. Tears streaked his face as he stammered, "Babe! Are you okay? Say something!" The woman pressed her face into his chest and broke down sobbing. She had never felt such humiliation in her life. That lunatic's obsession was too much for anyone to take. Cassian watched her without emotion. His voice came out low and even. "No idea why, but I can't stop wanting to hit you." The woman screamed and hid behind her husband, shaking. "Stay back! Please! I'm married! Don't come near me!" So she remembered she had a husband? Then why curse Anthony with that twisted spell? Cassian didn't bother replying. He looked at Natalie. "Ready to go?" Natalie nodded. "Yeah. Let's move." They had no clue when the blizzard might start again, so they needed to get out fast. But before they could reach the door, the beaten woman suddenly shouted, "You're leaving already?" Cassian turned, his expression flat. Did she want another round? She met his eyes and immediately shrank back, her voice trembling. "You can't just walk out like that." Cassian raised a brow. "You just told me to stay away from you." Her jaw clenched, rage boiling behind her bruised face. Oh, so now he follows orders? She had told him to stay away, sure—but she hadn't meant the girl too. If both of them left, she'd lose everything. She'd wasted all those heart-binding cursebugs, slaved over them for days, and gotten beaten half to death for nothing. And now, with her face ruined, there was only one thing she could do. She had to take that girl's beauty for herself, using the beauty cursebug. The store owner's wife forced herself to breathe evenly. The handsome man's way of showing affection was far too intense, but his feelings after being infected by the cursebug were real. She needed to use that to her advantage and find a way to keep them there a little longer. She quickly put on a fragile expression and said softly, "If you both leave now, it'll just be the two of us here. It'll be so lonely." Natalie froze for a moment. "Selina and Guinevere already left?" The woman nodded. "They left as soon as the snow stopped." Natalie didn't answer. She thought Selina really didn't waste time. When she made a decision, she followed through. Then she looked at Cassian. "We should go too." Before Cassian could respond, the couple started to panic. The man forced a friendly smile. "You've only stayed one night out of two. Leaving now means you'll lose money." Natalie arched a brow. "Wow. Didn't think you'd be so generous. You're actually gonna give me a refund?" She paused, her voice sharp. "That's funny. I could've sworn this place was a scam." The man's face twitched. "I didn't say anything about a refund..." Natalie sighed and rolled her eyes. "Then you're wasting my time. Move. Don't block the door. You can keep the money for the extra night." The man's face darkened, angry at the insult. "You! You—" He choked on his words, his face flushing with anger. He was used to controlling people with cursebugs. Without them, he couldn't fight back, not even with words. His wife ignored him and looked at Cassian with false tenderness. "Are you really leaving? Just like that?" Cassian frowned. "What's wrong with your eyes?"The woman froze. Was he made of stone? He couldn't take a hint to save his life. She was about to try again when Cassian said flatly, "You're making me want to hit you again." The woman flinched and stumbled backward, her heart pounding in fear. So much for seduction. That plan was useless.
