Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
The innkeeper thought of something and looked worried. "You just absorbed someone a few days ago. Your body can handle absorbing two more so soon?" The innkeeper's wife looked at herself in the mirror, stroking her cheek and admiring herself. "It's fine. If you want to be beautiful, you have to suffer a little. Isn't plastic surgery at a hospital even harder? Besides, this kind of nourishment works from the inside out. It's not just about changing your appearance." The innkeeper grinned and reached out to cop a feel. "That's true! My wife even smells sweet when she breathes now." "Alright." The innkeeper's wife pushed him away. "Not now! Focus on business!" She turned around and pulled out a packet of powder, an empty small bottle, and a glass jar containing two red worms from the drawer beside the bed. She carefully instructed, "You must remove the heart-binding cursebugs first before putting in the beauty cursebugs. Otherwise they'll fight inside the body. "Sprinkle this powder on the two girls' faces, and the heart-binding cursebugs will crawl out of their nostrils on their own. Collect them in the empty bottle, then put the beauty cursebugs near their ears. These little guys will burrow in by themselves." The man nodded, carefully storing the items, then went to find the knockout drug. The woman sat at the table, rested her chin on it, and sprinkled some white powder on herself. Then she opened her mouth wide and waited quietly. After quite a while, a large rainbow bug resembling a venomous spider slowly crawled out of her mouth. Once it crawled onto the table, the woman straightened up and stroked it affectionately a few times. "Flora, sorry to trouble you again!" The rainbow spider shook its body in response, then after a moment laid several transparent offspring. The woman happily collected the newly laid servant bug into the small bottle, praised Flora a few times, then bent down again and opened her mouth, allowing it to slowly crawl back inside. The man beside her, even though he'd seen this scene countless times, still felt his scalp tingle. He clicked his tongue. "Honestly, I'm always afraid that when we kiss, it'll crawl from your stomach into mine." The innkeeper's wife didn't speak, afraid of accidentally hurting the cursebug she was raising. After quite a while, she finally straightened up and rolled her eyes at the man. "You wish. Flora recognizes me as its owner. No one else can take it. Even if I died, it wouldn't live on alone. It's completely loyal!" The man's lips twitched. "I don't want your bug." How terrifying! That big bug crawling in and out of your mouth. With everything ready, the two were just about to leave when the innkeeper's wife suddenly sneezed several times in a row. She couldn't help but complain. "This weather is way too cold!" She'd already put on layers of thick clothes until her entire body had swelled into a round ball. She couldn't fit another piece of clothing on but still felt unbearably cold. The man beside her felt the same. He pulled out two blankets. "Let's wrap ourselves in blankets before going out." The innkeeper's wife took the blanket from his hand and reminded him, "Pay attention to those two girls' condition. The beauty cursebugs need time to take effect. Don't let them freeze to death too quickly." After speaking, her body shook. "It's all that crazy girl's fault. Making me do this all over again in this freezing weather." The innkeeper complained, "It's also your Flora that's not pulling its weight. As a master bug, it can't even sense the state of its servant bugs. If it could sense them, you wouldn't have to go through the trouble of feeding them cursebug again." The innkeeper's wife was displeased that he was criticizing her precious pet and said irritably. "Flora has laid so many offspring. If I could sense every single one, I'd have conquered the world by now. Stop criticizing it. If it weren't for Flora, would you have your good life today?" Seeing she was unhappy, the innkeeper quickly laughed awkwardly and coaxed her. "You're right. It's all thanks to you and Flora." Then he suddenly thought of something. "You think maybe it's because there are too many servant bugs out there that the effects have weakened a bit?" The innkeeper's wife pulled the blanket tighter around herself. "I don't know! Whatever the reason, I'll just send more servant bugs over." And she could see that man in person and deal with him while she was at it. Thinking of Cassian's handsome face, the innkeeper's wife instantly felt motivated. She didn't feel cold anymore and was even in a good enough mood to hum a tune, happily preparing to open the door. Watching her cheerful behavior, the man felt jealous again and reached out to stop her. "That excited to go take care of that pretty boy? Huh?" The innkeeper's wife blinked innocently. "What are you thinking? I'm not!" The man wouldn't let it go. "Then why are you humming?" The innkeeper's wife silently cursed. I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut. Why am I humming? But outwardly she still looked completely justified. "You always think about this stuff. I'm happy because we're about to have a big windfall." The man was stunned. "What do you mean?" The innkeeper's wife explained, "Think about it. Those two clearly haven't gone hungry. Even their three pets are fat and well-fed. But with just those two backpacks they're carrying, how long could that last them?"
