Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 574 Until Tomorrow

Cash ground his teeth so hard it was a wonder they didn't crack. Fine. Laugh while you can. Once you're in that cave, we'll see if I can't blow you to pieces. Natalie caught the flash of red and blue in his face and felt a spark of satisfaction. That's right, choke on your rage. You really thought you could trick me with your toy bombs? Let's see how your nerves handle a little pressure first. Cash swallowed his fury, called for two men, and had them drag the unconscious pockmarked idiot out. Then, he turned to Natalie and said, "Miss, you can't just knock my man out cold like that. Doesn't seem like you're here to talk things over." Natalie blinked innocently. "I spared his life. That's me being civil." Her expression said it all: You've got some nerve lecturing me. Cash's jaw twitched. This woman is insane! Before he could retort, she continued, "And anyway, who said I wanted to ‘discuss' anything with you? Let's get this straight—you are the one squatting on our supplies. You think I owe you good manners?" Cash dropped the "there are no supplies here" nonsense and pushed back with swagger. "So what if the supplies are here? Your name isn't written on them. They were just lying around, unguarded. First come, first served!" His confidence grew as he went on. "What, you expect me to believe every stranger who strolls in and says, ‘that's mine'? I should just hand it over?" Cassian, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke. "It is written." "What?" Cash blinked. Cassian smiled faintly. "I said, the name's on it."The man froze. "Impossible ... " Cassian didn't even look at him—just turned to Natalie. "A lot of the crates inside are stamped with our company seal." Natalie nodded, gaze steady on Cash. "Got anything else to say?" Cash's eyes darted as he scrambled for a way out. Then, he smirked shamelessly. "So what if there's a company logo? That only proves you made the stuff, not that you own what's here! "What, I eat a steak and I've got to thank the rancher now?" His back straightened, tone smug. "Let's be real—you two probably caught wind of our stash and came here to scam us, trying to snatch my supplies." Natalie rolled her eyes. "Not only are the supplies ours—don't forget, the security mechanisms were built by us too." Cash's grin widened. "And just because you can open them, that makes them yours? Guess what? I can open them too." She was done wasting breath. Natalie raised her gun, voice crisp and cold. "Let's not pretend, shall we? You're not keeping our supplies." He understood perfectly. She wasn't leaving without them. After a moment of fake hesitation, he sighed. "Alright, fine. I'll take a small loss. How about we split it fifty-fifty?" Natalie lowered the gun. "Deal." "I know you don't really want to, but—wait, what?" He blinked, stunned. She gave him a slow, knowing smile. "I said—deal." He stared at her like she'd grown another head. When did she get so reasonable?"You're serious? Half and half?" She said lightly. "Sure. You found it, we'll share it. Fair's fair." His suspicion deepened. This woman didn't do "reasonable." He knew the truth—none of these supplies belonged to him. They were hers. But if she was so quick to give up half, something didn't add up. Unless ... maybe they weren't the real owners either? Maybe they'd just stumbled on the place and were trying to claim a cut before bolting? But then again, how could impostors know so much about the warehouse? While his mind raced in circles, Natalie tilted her head. "What's wrong? Changing your mind already?" He looked up, studied her for two long seconds. Then, his grin returned—greedy and vicious. Who cares who owns it? They'll both be ashes soon enough. He chuckled. "Of course not. It's settled, then." Feigning generosity, he added, "I've used quite a bit of the supplies already. To make it up to you, you can pick first. Whatever's left, I'll take." Then, he stepped aside, finally revealing the curtain-covered doorway behind him. "Please—after you." But once again, Natalie defied his expectations. "No rush. It's late. We'll come back for it tomorrow." Laifu froze, then quickly forced a laugh. "No problem! Move it tonight if you want. I've napped half the day—I'm wide awake." Watching him hurry them along made Natalie want to laugh. So eager to blow me up, huh? She said bluntly, "Don't flatter yourself. We're not staying because of you. It's just too dark. Hard to move supplies safely at night." She wasn't lying, either. Cash's smirk faltered for a second. "Right ... of course. My mistake." Then, with forced cheer, he waved them off. "Well then—until tomorrow."
