Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 514 Natalie's Anger

Scarlett pretended to be a happy couple while quietly taking control of the family assets. She planned to confront Jacob and then go their separate ways once everything was in place. Thanks to the loyal employees Jacob had quietly placed in the company before, he quickly noticed what his wife was doing. He realized that if they ever fought, he couldn't win against her. So he deliberately increased the amount of aromatic candles in the house and even replaced Scarlett's heart medicine with useless vitamins. Then he had Lillian act desperate and send Scarlett private videos and filthy messages over and over, trying to make her angry, wrecking her mood. When Scarlett was in terrible physical and mental shape, Jacob acted fast. While she was sleeping, he played extremely loud music that scared her so much her heart almost stopped. He had hidden her emergency heart medicine, too. In less than a minute, Jacob removed one big threat, and Natalie lost her mother forever. After that, Natalie had already figured out most of what happened. After the funeral, Jacob brought Lillian into the house, angered Scarlett's sick mother to death, and then kicked Natalie out. From that point, no one would know the truth about Scarlett's death, and no one could take the family assets from him. If the apocalypse hadn't happened, Jacob, Lillian, and Rosalie might have lived rich and happy lives. Hearing all of this, Natalie tightened her fists. She had thought Scarlett didn't know about Lillian and Rosalie. No wonder there was a time when Scarlett looked so pale and distracted, often not even hearing her when she spoke. She had foolishly assumed it was just work stress, some problem at the company. She never guessed Scarlett had been facing everything alone—a cheating husband, humiliation from the mistress, physical pain, financial problems, and still having to pretend everything was fine, hiding it all from Natalie and her grandmother to keep them from worrying. Natalie's eyes turned red. Her heart ached like it would break. Scarlett—the one she loved the most—had been killed by her own father. And she was sitting in the house Scarlett had left her, waiting for the killer who had thrown her out to come and take her home. Even in this second chance at life, she had held back because Jacob was her father. She hadn't chased revenge for him letting her die before. She had only planned to go her separate ways and live her own life. If Scarlett could see her from above, how sad and cold would her heart feel? Natalie shook with anger. For a moment, she felt connected to Scarlett from years ago, feeling the same grief and fury. Jacob—the bastard who killed his wife! He deserved to die miserably! Right then, Jacob was weak from blood loss and didn't notice Natalie's angry glare. He mumbled to himself, "I've said everything. You have to keep your promise and help me with the treatment and bandages. "I was wrong about your mom's death. I really regret it. If I had known Lillian would betray me, I would have just lived a proper life with your mom. "If it were Scarlett, she wouldn't have taken my things and run off with Derek. I'd still be living in those nice villas on the hills, comfortable. "But she wasn't completely innocent either. If she'd learned from Lillian, learned how to be a gentle woman, I wouldn't have gone the wrong way. "Nat, I know you're angry, but we're father and daughter. Let's stop fighting and try to get along. I promise I'll treat you right and give you the motherly love you missed." Hearing his silly words, Natalie's anger boiled over even more. She lifted her hand and slapped him hard. A martial artist's slap hits like a hammer. Jacob suddenly came to his senses a bit and shouted in disbelief. "Are you crazy? Slapping your dad?!" Without a word, Natalie swung her hand again. "That is for Mom! Then another slap. "This is for Grandma and Grandpa." One slap wasn't enough. She kept going, left and right, hitting him over and over. "Take that for being ungrateful! "Take that for being shameless! "That's for never changing." Natalie looked so much like Scarlett. Jacob, dizzy and weak from the blood loss and the hits, blinked and thought he was seeing his dead wife slapping him. Jacob growled, "Scarlett! You're not a good wife! How dare you hit your man?" Hearing him insult her mother again, Natalie hit him with a few more strong slaps. She kept going until he passed out, spat at him, then dropped back into her seat, breathing heavily to calm down.
