Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Luckily, this villa had an air filtration system installed before. Once it was turned on, it could filter out the trace amounts of toxins in the air. Villa 1. Cassian was in the theater room watching a show. The three little ones were curled up obediently at his feet, dozing off. Just as Lucky could not hold out any longer and her eyelids slowly drooped, she suddenly caught the scent of her master. In an instant, she perked up and ran excitedly to the living room. Cassian saw her reaction, curved his lips slightly, and stood up too. After being gone all night, Natalie finally appeared. However, before she could even take a step aside, Lucky pounced on her and knocked her onto the sofa. "Hey! Don't lick! Calm down, I just took a shower!" Lucky seemed to understand her scolding. She reluctantly pulled back her tongue, no longer licking her master's face, but her tail kept wagging like crazy. The other two little ones, blocked behind by the domineering dog, barely managed to show themselves in front of their master before Lucky shoved them away. Natalie could not help but laugh, reaching out to rub Lucky's head. When she looked up, she saw Cassian in a black silk robe, the collar slightly open, walking toward her unhurriedly. Her eyes drifted to the faint outline of his chest muscles, and she swallowed hard. This man is trying to seduce me again! Cassian came over, easily lifted the hundred-pound fat dog, tossed her aside, and then sat down next to Natalie. "Well? Satisfied?" Lucky let out a soft whine but did not throw a tantrum with Hottie like she usually did with Cash and Baron. Instead, she just ran back and curled up quietly at their feet. Natalie, on the other hand, answered happily, "Satisfied! So satisfied! Now the space can last for six hours!" Earlier that day, she and Cassian had stayed inside for half an hour, and Lucky for another half hour, making it a total of one hour. Then she had gone in alone at 6:30 p.m., and now it was 11:30 p.m.—a full five hours. Which meant the space had just leveled up by four hours at once. Natalie knew the further it went, the harder it would be to upgrade the space. So even though she had gathered quite a bit of emerald, she had not expected the time extension to be that great. She thought maybe she would get two or three more hours at most, but to her surprise, she got four. If only it worked like phone data plans, where unused hours could roll over to the next month—that would be perfect! At that thought, Natalie laughed at herself for being greedy. Really, wasn't six hours a day to hide in the space already a huge blessing compared to other survivors who had nowhere to run? Unlike Natalie's excitement, Cassian's expression stayed calm. "When I asked if you were satisfied, I didn't mean the time." Natalie blinked. "Huh? Then what did you mean?" Cassian pointed to his chest. "I meant, are you satisfied with what you see?" Natalie rolled her eyes. "I'm talking about something serious, and you're teasing me?" Cassian sighed lightly and tugged at his loose collar. "You've been staring nonstop, so I figured you liked it."Natalie quickly turned her eyes away. "Don't talk nonsense. I wasn't." But then she could not help sneaking another glance. Cassian chuckled. "Nattie, do you know what your biggest weakness is?" Weakness? Natalie raised a brow. How could a woman like her have a weakness? She perked her ears and asked seriously, "What weakness?" Amusement flickered in Cassian's eyes. "You're lustful." Natalie gasped. Her lips twitched, about to argue, but Cassian pointed down at Lucky. "Just like her." Natalie looked down and saw the dog grinning widely, gazing at Cassian in bliss, drool dripping all over her chin. Natalie arched a brow. "You silly dog ... " Before she could finish, Cassian suddenly leaned in and pressed her down on the sofa. Startled, Natalie instinctively pushed against him, but her hand landed on his chest. Wow, solid. She swallowed again without thinking. Then she wondered, was she really that lustful? Back in school, it was not like there were no good-looking boys who liked her, but she had never been swayed by appearances. Yet when it came to Cassian, she always lost control somehow.Natalie blinked, watching his face magnify in front of her. Even this close, she could not spot a single flaw. "Nattie, it's been five hours." Natalie closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his lips brush against hers. Her heart pounded wildly, every pore of her body opening up, her senses heightened. In her previous life, she lived until twenty-six, and in this one, she had already gone through nearly three more years—so inside, she was actually a twenty-nine-year-old woman. Two lives lived, and only recently had she begun unlocking these new, intense feelings. Cassian held her tightly, their bodies pressed close together. In that moment, she was struck with sudden clarity—today, they had almost died under that giant boulder!
